RPG Games, Your Favorite?

What roll-playing games do you enjoy most/have you enjoyed in your past?

Old and new, dating to the NES to the PS3/XBOX360? Which ones did you like and why?

Role* Anyways, I love the RPG games from PS1. It was the best ones.
But to be exact, my favorite RPG is before Final fantasy is Chrono cross.
That game is very puzzled and awesome. I barely defeated the game with
easy difficulty. I just love PS1 RPG's. Brings back memories.

I really like Borderlands 2 (its a combo of a FPS and a RPG)
Its so level based in the case of the loot, the enemies and missions. You also have 6 classes to play as. If your level isnt high enough for a gun you cannot use it, or if a enemy is 3 levels higher than you you might wanna avoid it. Borderlands 2 is so much besides a RPG.

For starters, any Pokemon game. :P

I love Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, it's one of my favorite games ever. Great story, cool villains, awesome settings, and excellent soundtrack.

I'm also a fan of the .hack//G.U. series for the PS2. I believe it's quite underrated. The story is really good, I personally think the characters are very likable and relatable, and of course, like any .hack game, it has amazing settings and soundtrack.

My all time favorite RPG series would be the Shin Megami Tensei series and it's remarkable spin-off series, the Persona series. The Disgaea and God Eater series are also on my favorite list.

The World Ends With You, also deserve a spot for it's unusual setting, unique battle system and wonderful soundtracks, a well-worthy RPG. Probably one of the most underrated RPGs during it's life span.

Almost exclusively the Mother series. I like that the first two have a sense of childhood whimsy, while the 3rd is about familial love as opposed to the cliched boy meets girl story.

The first two Paper Marios are probably next, though I don't tend to think about them often. The first Paper Mario shows its age a bit, though, and I never finshed the second but it did seem better all around. It's been so long, though, that I may have to start the game from the beginning again. So long black Yoshi.

I play Pokemon but I'd hardly consider it a favorite in the grand scheme. The only thing it has going for it for me is the Pokemon. Under any other circumstances I wouldn't even touch it.

Well, I obviously like pokemon, but most games I like are RPGs aaround the SNES era.

To name a few:
Earthbound
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy VI (III in the states)
Lufia II
Illusion of Gaia
Terranigma
Super Mario RPG: Legend of The Seven Stars
Dragon Quest I & II (Japanese)
Fire Emblem: Monshō no Nazo (Fire Emblem: Mysery of The Emblem) (Japanese)

There's tons more, but I don't want to take up the entire page :P

I honestly think Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne (Luicfer's Call in Europe) is about the best RPG you can find. Addictive RPG mechanics with its press turn system and great level design and pacing, you'd be hard pressed to find a very challenging yet greatly designed RPG like it. Hell, I think it does Pokemon better than Pokemon itself. It even makes Persona seem shallow. (And it is, the mechanics in SMT3 blows Persona away so much...and it actually has level design!)

I'm about to start Earthbound for the first time ever tho, so let's see if it lives up to its legacy. :)

Classic favorite RPGs

Paper Mario
Chrono Cross
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy III
Paper Mario
All of the Mother games

I don't play s many RPGs now but I'd have to say some of my favorite are Fallout, Borderlands, Dragon Age, Kingdom Hearts, TWEWY and Blue Dragon.

I'm going to go with the standard answer of Final Fantasy VI for my favorite RPG. The story's great, the characters are amazing, and the mechanics are fun and simple while also being interesting. That was the game that started my enjoyment of RPGs, so it will forever hold the title of my favorite.

Also, I enjoy the Mario & Luigi series for the GBA/DS/3DS (although I haven't played the recent one yet). They're a little more on the simple side for me when it comes to RPG mechanics, but I appreciate that when I want to play a RPG but don't want to get fully involved. The stories and dialogues are also hilarious, which gives them a certain charm that I enjoy.

Chrono Trigger deserves the top spot. I love all the Final Fantasy's before and including six. Earthbound/Mother are a great series of games aswell.

I have quite a few favorites actually.

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
NieR
The World Ends With You
Demon's Souls
Fallout: New Vegas

I also really like when games successfully implement RPG elements with their gameplay, but oftentimes they end up making RPG elements little more than Skinner boxes.

Mine are Final Fantasy 6, FF10, Pokemon series, Elder Scrolls/ Fallout.

More recently Ni No Kuni

I think that my most favourite RPG of all are the Fire Emblem series of games. They have a great way to invoke your strategic thinking on commanding your units! It's like, these units have personality, and so that you've grown a bond to each character that you wouldn't let them die.

If I had to pick my favorite RPG game, it would be Mass Effect 3. Despite how it ended, I can't discount how much I loved the rest of the game, the way decisions of the previous games could drastically change how the game played through, the real emotional ties I had with Shepard's squad, and just how plain emotional the game could make me, especially the opening mission of the game. Mass Effect 3 will always have a special place in my heart.

I got into RPG's via Pokémon, began to love them thanks to the two first Paper Marios and the Mario & Luigi series, and all that lead me into becoming a Tales of addict. As they say, be careful with starting RPGs, who knows how you are going to end, kids!

Also looking superforward to Bravely Default.
