    [PokeCommunity.com] Screensavers!

Who remembers these things? From 3D Maze, to 3D Pipes, screensavers were surely the thing to have on your monitor for idle time back in the days of Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP.

Did you ever have a screensaver on your computer, or maybe you still do? What is your favorite screensaver?

I miss old screen savers. My Hackintoshes still use them (because I'm too lazy to turn them off), and my Linux desktops is a still image and they date/time.

i actually keep forgetting about screensavers until fairly recently. :c it's kind of a shame because i actually liked some of them and how you can customize them...

Not gonna lie I completely forgot these existed.

^ yeeeaah p much. if im putting my computer to sleep i just close my laptop and don't really bother with a screensaver. might be more use for a desktop pc, though.

lmfao screensavers still exist? Do modern computers even need screensavers anymore? I know screen burn was only a problem w/90s computers... anyway, no, can't say I'm using one now. My parents use bubbles on their computer, though.

Screen burn-in is still very much a modern device concern. I managed screen burn in on my previous Pixel XL. Windows 10 by default has a slideshow for your lock screen, though, which serves the same purpose.

As for mine, I don't use a screensaver from the screensaver control panel. I do, however, use a Love Live fanart album for my lock screen slide show.

I think screensavers have gradually become replaced by Sleep mode. IIRC, sleep mode wasn't quite a thing on CRT monitors until just about the 2000s or so, and constantly turning them on and off could really wear on the capacitors.

this, pretty much. i suppose for those people who do miss the screensaver animations, the setting itself is still technically a thing, but it defaults to off (and i believe it has done so for quite a while now, so it might've slipped under people's noses that sleep mode took priority over screensavers).
