Wow, I might actually get to 3x the mean! Usually around 10,000 encounters I'm all like,
"Darn, this hunt is taking a long time!" :pink_laugh:
Wow, congrats on all those shinies, Weyoun! You've got a bunch of the coolest Alolan Pokes there!
Congrats on those shinies!! You don't hear too many people with a shiny Doduo - it seems like one of the more overlooked Pokemon that not many people hunt for, so it's pretty cool for you to have found one! Some of my favorite shinies are the ones that not many people have.
*high-fives shiny Hitmonlee*
*goes to high-five shiny Heatmor, but backs off at last second after seeing its claws*
Welcome to the SHC, KokoroT! Sorry to hear about your lost shiny - I hope you can find another one soon!
Dead battery shinies are legitimate, as long as you don't use the same frame. Like, the first shiny you find in the game is a perfectly random one, since you don't know beforehand which frames bear shinies. I'm hunting in Emerald right now with the game plugged in and left on all the time so I get all sorts of new frames, so there are ways to get around the dead battery/broken RNG problem! :)
That's a great topic idea! But you did it backwards - instead of sending people from this thread out to other places, you should send everyone here for shiny topics and discussion!! :pink_tongue:
Before I started my current hunt, my answer definitely would've been Diamond. That was my main hunting game for many years, and I've even sent a few of my GenIII ones up there when I had to restart games (my link cable still works, but none of my GBAs do, "lol").
But a couple of years ago, I fired up Emerald and have left it plugged in and running to have new RNG frames, and so I've been exclusively hunting there for the past two years to get all the shinies out of there while I still can! It's like a frantic, last-minute evacuation to save all of the shinies and get them out before my game turns off and I'm stuck with repeat frames, haha.
When I turned Emerald on two years ago, I had four shinies in my last PC box: Electrode (which was originally caught in Ruby, but traded to Emerald a really, really long time ago, probably in like 2004-2006), Slugma, Shuppet, and Spheal. Since I started this hunt, I've caught 13 shinies, so now I have more than half a box full of shinies!! :littleo:
Congrats on the shiny!! Those are my favorite games to hunt on; there's nothing cooler than having your shinies walk around Johto with you, haha!
HG/SS spoiler:
Yes, exactly!! I'm on a grand quest to find all the Ghost shinies and all the shiny starters! I was doing pretty well with the Ghost one, but new games keep coming out and pushing my objective further and further back, "lol." I have taken a two-year break to do my Emerald Quest, so both of those are kind of on hold for now. There was actually a third quest - the Path of the Dragon - but I took that out of my sig since that's a really long quest to get shiny Rayquaza (THE COOLEST SHINY OF ALL TIME!!!) that's going to take a while since I'm focusing on the other two for now. But I'll get around to it! :P
The Ghost one isn't that far from completion, but I still need to breed a 1/8192 shiny Snorunt in GenV and find a 1/81920 shiny Sableye in that postgame cave, which will take like 5 forevers (are they multiplicative? 'cause that would be twentyever! :littleo:)! The Pumpkaboo, Phantump, Frillish, Ghastly, and GenVII ones should be more straightforward.
*is reminded that he hasn't updated his sig for the new GenVII requirements*
*hides*
Congrats on the new shinies, Maserati! Some day people are going to look back at this era and call you the greatest shiny hunter of all time!
Good luck, Lrachelr5!! Hope a shiny hatches for you soon!!
Sweet, congrats on all those shinies!! You're on a tear, Le?mhann!! "lol" at all those Chansey - it definitely makes it easier to lose a shiny if you already have three of them (and then you go get a fourth, haha!)!
It popped out of all those balls with 1HP while asleep!?? Wow, that's one resilient Chansey!! {D:}
I'm glad to see that you were using Heal Balls and Premier Balls; those are my favorites for catching shinies!!! The Premier Ball just oozes a vibe that it was built to catch shinies, haha. And the Heal Ball probs has the coolest bling! :pink_boogie:
I'm really looking forward to my next play of HG (when I finally start walking the Path of the Dragon!) to check out all those other cool balls that I've forgotten about but know are super-duper cool!
Welcome to the SHC, Flan!! That's some entrance, throwing open the doors of the SHC saloon and strutting in with a shiny Reshiram and a shiny Zekrom, haha. What a terrific start - I hope you find many more shinies!!
It's even cooler that you were able to get such good natured/IVed ones! That's like quadruple-luck, haha! {XD}
And your pictures are fine - as long as they're in spoiler tags, they're good! :pink_nod:
That's also the first time I've ever heard anyone make an Ultra Ball sound cool. I'd always relegated them to the bottom of the "cool Poke Ball" barrel, using them only because they made catching easier and avoided risks like Struggle and stuff. I had always considered them to be the lamest Ball type, but now I'm going to have to reconsider that and take another look at them, keeping in mind that they match Hoopa's rings!
*vindicates all past shinies that had been caught in Ultra Balls*
Welcome to the SHC, Piney! You're already off to a great start as a shiny hunter with all those awesome catches!
Also, your text color looks really, really cool with Quilava's Glacation, haha. {XD}
Congrats!! Cutiefly's one of my favorite GenVII Pokemon - its typing is so cool!!! And the speed makes it an awesome Pokemon to use too, haha.
And you're making terrific progress with your living dex!!
Congrats on the new shinies! I've never thought to hunt with Shadow Tag leads; that's a great idea!

Spoiler:
Haven't been here in a while. In the last 4 months, I've managed to MM a shiny Decidueye, Palossand, Dhelmise, Beedrill, Vikavolt, Tauros, Eevee, 2 Alolan Sandshrews, and just tonight I hatched a shiny Drampa.
Also managed to hatch an accidental shiny Charmander somewhere in the middle of all that as well.
That's 11 shiny hatches in 4 months.
Edit: I just hatched a second shiny drampa. That's 12 hatches now in 4 months.
2nd Edit: Add a shiny munchlax to the list now.
Wow, congrats on all those shinies, Weyoun! You've got a bunch of the coolest Alolan Pokes there!
Caught a shiny Shinx from Pokeradar chaining. I might try and get another shiny Shinx later which I'll evolve into Luxio. I already have a shiny Luxray in my collection.
Edit: Caught a shiny Doduo from Pokeradar chaining.
Edit 2: Another successful chain has got me a shiny Natu. I was going to try and get a second one for Xatu, but I accidently broke the chain after I caught the first one.
Congrats on those shinies!! You don't hear too many people with a shiny Doduo - it seems like one of the more overlooked Pokemon that not many people hunt for, so it's pretty cool for you to have found one! Some of my favorite shinies are the ones that not many people have.

used to have a shiny mudkip/marshtomp/swamped but my brother reset made a new save file so I'm stuck just looking for more :)
Also that shiny mudkip was with a dry battery so that post at the beginning is false.

hey guys, why don't you share your thoughts on which game you found the most fruitful for shiny hunting?

Things and stuff
Spoiler:![]()
I never keep track of numbers because I'm bad so I can't tell you how long it took
But I was going with 3 DSes + 3 games at once to make it faster, would have been really funny if I got a shiny on two games on the same reset or something.
Just need Chikorita now, which makes things easier because I can just press A twice on the machine to show Chikorita and then reset right away without bothering to look at the other two. Might potentially miss a shiny that way but I don't particularly care for duplicates.
After that I guess I need to go for Treecko still... can only really do that on Sapphire though unfortunately, that or I guess I can have two DSes running Ruby and Emerald alongside, and restart their save files every hunting session to make up for dead battery/broken rng, lol.
Congrats on the shiny!! Those are my favorite games to hunt on; there's nothing cooler than having your shinies walk around Johto with you, haha!
HG/SS spoiler:
Spoiler:
You can get the Hoenn starters in HG/SS!! There's a postgame thing where you can pick one of the three and SR for it; I got my shiny Mudkip that way. So you don't have to worry about any dead batteries or broken RNGs to get your shiny Treecko!
I have a question. What's the "Path of the Ghost" and "Path of the Starter"? Is it a shiny hunt for a shiny form of every starter Pokemon and a hunt for a shiny form of every ghost Pokemon?
Yes, exactly!! I'm on a grand quest to find all the Ghost shinies and all the shiny starters! Today I hatched a Shiny Lickitung in 877 eggs. It's my 3rd Masuda Method shiny, and it's almost been a year since the first 2 Ralts and Miltank.

On the 2nd I found a shiny Roggenrola in 1992 horde encounters. Then that same day I found a shiny Nosepass in 180 hordes. It was unfortunately the one I didn't want on that route as I had found 2 in FS before.
Right now I'm trying again for a Nidoran and I'm breeding for a Caterpie.
To the person who got 3 Chansey. I've gotten 3 of the same Pokemon back to back in FS multiples of times. Meditite, Palpitoad, Abra, Teddiursa, Tangela, Vullaby and Bibarel.
The 3 Palpitoad were in 3,500 encounters total. The first Vullaby was 277, second was 1,916 and 3rd was 73. The Bibarel was fun, 1st at 963, 2nd at 899 and 3rd at 1828.
Congrats on the new shinies, Maserati! Some day people are going to look back at this era and call you the greatest shiny hunter of all time!
I'm currently at 300 eggs for a shiny chespin that I am breeding in Sun for a tournament
Good luck, Lrachelr5!! Hope a shiny hatches for you soon!!
After 1168 Friend Safari encounters in search of a shiny Teddiursa I got a shiny Chansey! Will edit this post later after I getthe photo proof uploaded to imagur. But anyways I'm excited but still want that shiny Teddiursa before I get that shiny Seviper!
WHOA! Second shiny Chansey at 34 encounters!
Spoiler:![]()
What the heck?!?!? I'm not against getting shinies but three shiny Chansey in a row? And at 108 encounters? WHY?!?!? Give me my shiny Teddiursa! I want my green teddiebear!
Spoiler:![]()
FINALLY something other than Chansey! I got a shiny Audino after 700 FS encounters give or take (my calculator kept getting reset by accident.
Spoiler:![]()
Ok so I woke up this morning and started off the day with a little shiny hunting for my shiny Teddiursa. I had gotten off the day before at 450 encounters content that I would find a shiny close to that number the next day. I was not disappointed cause I found my fourth shiny Chansey after 17 encounters at 467 FS encounters. Sadly however it killed itself with a Take Down after doing the nearly impossible and breaking out of three heal balls and a premier ball at 1 HP and with the sleep status. Needless to say I was as angry as a Mankey until I found my fifth shiny Chansey 70 encounters right after that. It also broke out if a lot of Pok?balls and kept spamming Soft Boiled (WHY DO THESE MOVES EXIST?!?!?). But I caught it and named it Irritating just cause of how irritating it was to catch and how irritating it would be to kill it if I trained it correctly.
Sweet, congrats on all those shinies!! You're on a tear, Le?mhann!! "lol" at all those Chansey - it definitely makes it easier to lose a shiny if you already have three of them (and then you go get a fourth, haha!)!

Today while watching The Bachelorette with my mom (because we're both trash lol), I was stunned to see that a Shiny Reshiram had dropped down from Hoopa's ring. I had just started hunting Reshiram along with Zekrom about a week ago, although today was the only day that I've actually dedicated real time to SRing, so I can't highlight enough how shocked I am. It's got to have been less than 500 SRs total, and that's without the aid of a Shiny Charm.
What's more is that this Shiny Reshiram is Modest (thank God for my Synchronize Ralts!) and its IVs are great, with a spread of 30/26/25/31/31/31. At first, I wasn't sure whether to catch it in a Premier Ball or Ultra Ball, so I ultimately opted with an Ultra Ball to match the golden rings. I'm so happy, and this is a really good way to have ended May. Now I'm more motivated to hunt Zekrom! I'm crossing my fingers for Adamant, but I guess I can't be too greedy, haha.
Get ready for picture spam. I hope these aren't too large or long lol.

So after only around 10+ hours combined of SRing in the past couple days, I was somehow able to catch myself an Adamant Shiny Zekrom in AlphaSapphire tonight. I'm stunned because I don't have the Shiny Charm, so I didn't expect to get Zekrom this soon, plus I didn't think that the Synchronizer would work yet again! I'm very used to the Synchronizer failing me, so I can tell that my luck has definitely run out for the next couple months, haha. I'm so excited though--I never thought I'd be able to own these two Shinies legitimately and with good natures and IVs!
I'm not sure what to go for next, although I'm eyeing Entei and Raikou to potentially start a double-hunt in OR/AS. Here's some pictures of my encounter with Shiny Zekrom! Hope they're not too large.

Hiya! I'm kinda new to actually post and I love to catch shinies (I love to PokeRadar on Pokemon Y) so I might as well join!
The shinies I've caught are the following!:*Most of these are evolved to the following
- Shiny Pelipper (Random Encounter / W2)
- Shiny Exploud (Random Encounter / AS)
- Shiny Galvantula (DexNav (Chain for Eevee with search level of 542) / AS)
- Shiny Sylveon (DexNav (Chain for Eevee with Search level of 583) / AS)
- Shiny Arcanine (Friend Safari / Y)
- Shiny Pyroar (Roke Radar / Y)
- Shiny Raichu (Roke Radar / Y)
- Shiny Riolu (Roke Radar / Y)
- Shiny Skiddo (Roke Radar / Y)
- Shiny Kadabra (Roke Radar / Y)
- Shiny Talonflame (Roke Radar / Y)
Welcome to the SHC, Piney! You're already off to a great start as a shiny hunter with all those awesome catches!
Also, your text color looks really, really cool with Quilava's Glacation, haha. {XD}
I just caught a shiny Cutiefly from SOS chaining. This is my first Gen 7 shiny that isn't an Alolan form.
I found a second shiny Minccino in the friend safari and now I've got a Cinccino which marks my 150th shiny in the living dex.
Congrats!! Cutiefly's one of my favorite GenVII Pokemon - its typing is so cool!!! And the speed makes it an awesome Pokemon to use too, haha.
And you're making terrific progress with your living dex!!
Shiny Female Granbull - Found in a random encounter in the route next to the Battle Tree. Adamant Nature and the Shiny is a nice colour. Very happy with this one.
Shiny Female Wobbuffet x 2 - Looking for a Girafarig or Abra in a Psychic Friend Safari I run into two of these on successive days. It's a nice Shiny but I already have a Shiny Shadow Tag Gothitelle (Which I was hunting with and is one of my favourite Pokemon). Wobbuffet does look good purple though.
Congrats on the new shinies! I've never thought to hunt with Shadow Tag leads; that's a great idea!
