It's based on a dark magician and I love her! My only problem is I would need to sr for a female Sprigatito... I would name her Bellatrix after a character from Harry Potter

It's based on the day of the dead and is the first fully quadrupedal fire starter ever! My gripe with it is that I would need to give up Ceruledge for this beauty... I would name him Hector from a character of Walt Disney's Coco (which is based of the day of the dead)

It's based on a carnival dancer and he looks so beautiful and a male would work! My small gripe is that his back sprite might look a bit awkward because of it's curved spine. But I have a curved spine like this Pokemon, so i love that trait of the design! I would name him Baile (which means dance in Spanish)

I enjoyed reading your insights onto the strong points of all of them! I've seen a lot of negativity about the new starters' final forms and while I don't think it's wrong to feel one way or another and I have my own opinions too, it's refreshing to see someone embracing them!

What do you go by when you choose your starters? Do you go by designs, or moves, stats, and abilities? Maybe all of the above? Some of the above?

If you'd like you might be able to use separate Switch profiles to have three separate playthroughs with different starters, I haven't done this myself but as I understand how that works it should be a good solution if you're struggling to choose and are fine with trying all of them. You could also look at the leaks and try to plan your team without the starter and see which starter fits at the end

While I can't deny I've seen a fair amount of mindless hate for Quaquaval based on its feminine features, I think most people who criticize it have a legitimate problem with its exaggerated human features. Unlike Mons like Incineroar or Delphox, who are just cartoon animal-like enough not to be offputting, Quaquaval, much like Inteleon in the previous generation, dials up the human resemblance to unsettling extents. I honestly agree with that criticism. I don't care what gender it aligns with, its... oversized backside and in-game animations made my skin crawl upon first seeing them.

That's not even factoring that this is a Pokémon that is clearly inspired by a samba dancer and the Carnaval de Rio de Janeiro, or hell, maybe even the Argentinian Carnaval de Gualeguaychú... in a region based on Spain. I know that we've had Chinese-inspired starters in Sinnoh (Japan) and Unova (the US) and Japanese-inspired starters in Kalos (France), and trust me, I wouldn't be bothered if conflating the cultures of Spain with those of South American countries weren't such a tired trope - and already executed with Skeledirge, who takes inspiration from the Mexican Dia de los Muertos. What makes it even more jarring is seeing how much more culturally fitting the starters were in the last three generations - in Galar, and to an extent Alola and Kalos - than they are in this one. Heck, reading Quaxly's name made me think we were going to get a Don Quixote homage, given that said book is the most important piece of Spanish literature. It's such a disappointment to see that they either didn't do as much research into their target location this time, or worse, did the research and ignored their findings.

No, I'm choosing Sprigatito first though, seeing that it will be the game's 'easy mode'. I will prefer using Cereledge to having Fuecoco on the team.

Keep in mind that, for these new titles, you are able to free roam and explore the world in an open world. With that, I don't think that starters being "easy," "medium," and "hard mode" really applies anymore.

Okay, so I finally know what duckster's final evo looks like! …Ew. Well at least it was already the one I was least wanting to pick.

So if I could reccomend you to pick any of them, I reccomend picking the Grass starter. Or well either of the ones that aren't the Water starter :]

I like the final stages, but what are their final stage typings?

I've read somewhere that Fuecoco's third is Fire/Ghost, which is a type I really like, but honestly it doesn't seem to make any sense here. Why making a Fire Crocodile a Ghost of all things? Seems like they're kinda derailing the concept of Ghost Pokémon being... you know... ghosts, maybe? and just giving it that type because they feel like it.

Besides, since we got Hisuian Typhlosion less than a year ago, we're basically getting two Fire/Ghost starters in a row.

So I like its typing but I don't think it fits at all. Fuecoco was my intended starter choice, but I'll wait to see what other options there are. If I see a Ghost type that I like for my team that'd leave Fuecoco out then.

Might pick another starter, but can't tell yet. I'll most likely just pick one non-starter new Pokémon and plan my team around it, then pick whichever starter teams up better with it.
