starter predictions

Chespin/Fennekin/Froakie, but now with mega evolutions.
 
L:A route - Snivy, Scorbunny, Piplup
Mainstream route - Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie

I'm not sure what to say
 
Okay so I have three trios that i want based on a theme

Forms of entertainment
Popplio (Singing) Sprigatito (Magic) Scorbunny (Sports, specifically football which is big in France)

And perhaps just overall themes of royalty or nobility because well, France
Piplup, Chimchar and Snivy

And lastly, to quote Marge Simpson; "I just think they're neat."
Inteleon, Chikorita and Incineroar
 
Ok based off the information we have and the starters used in the original game I say we have a good selection pick.

Of course they could always pick the originl kanto starter trio but to me it wouldn't feel as cool? But i digress because everyone wants Mega-Greninja.

So we have 27 starters to choose from and right off the bat we can eliminate a bunch of them. Rowlet, Oshawott, and Cyndaquill were used in the first legends game so It's highly unlikely one of those three will be chosen again. so 24 starters remain.

6 starters, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Torchic, Treecko, and Mudkip already have mega evolutions and I think the starters in this game will probably get Mega Evolutions? Or regional forms, or both. But that turns the starters remain from 24 to 18.

Next up, I mean realistically they are not going to make a Mega Evolution/Regional form for gen 9 starters that are recently introduced. Getting gen 8 starters is a possibility because last legends game was released during gen 8 and they had a starter from gen 7, but not gen 8. So its highly unlikely we will see one of the starters from the paldea region. The remaining starters went from 18 to 15.

Sorry I didn't eliminate this trio earlier, But if game freak wants to stay true to the original legends game, The kantos starters have to go. The remaining starters went from 15 to now 12.

Kantos is based in france which is interesting because some starters look like they are french in essence. Such as Serperior which looks like it is meant to represent french royalty, Scorbunny repersents a soccer player, and if you know anything about soccer, french people are OBSESSED with it. For the Water starter, I had a harder time selecting so tbh even though i said I eliminated the kantos trio earlier I just have to add Froakie (But mainly for its final form, Greninja). It's badass, Game freak loves it, The fans love it. In fact it was voted the most popular Pokemon and the most popular starter back to back in 2020, Which goes to show how much the fans like it.

Very similar predictions, We both are basing our predictions off of French Culture. I agree with your scorbunny theory, and Popplio is a good option but I feel like greninja is more likely for reasons I listed in my above thread. The marge simpson quote is smart ;) and I would like to see Inteleon and Incineroar, but unlikely the come in the game as starters. Instead of picking Sprigatito I picked Serperior because It repersents Napoleons Staff, and Royalty. Both are french enough, and So Is Napoleon.

So my predictions are: Snivy, Scorbunny, and either popplio or froakie.

I'm almost certain that they'll be using snivy and piplup, they just make too much sense thematically. Following that idea, I really hope the regional Serperior becomes Grass/Dragon, or at least that it gets a mega like sceptile, but without changing its hidden ability. If they don't do that, I guess a Grass/Ghost to reference the French monarchy's ending could also be nice. I don't know what they'll do with empoleon, other than maybe make it Water/Dark to reference Napoleon's desire for expansion or Water/Fighting to represent his tactical prowess. The fire type is more tricky, maybe torchick (I believe I heard someone mention that France's national animal used to be a rooster, some people also suggested cinderace, though I don't remember why. It would be pretty funny if they end up using Litten, just to see competitive players lose their mind on the possibility of another Incineroar.

I think the Legends Z-A starters will be Charmander, Chespin, and Piplup.
 
I was skeptical about Snivy but seeing so many truthers raised my hopes. It really makes sense, with the fleur-de-lis theme and all. But I'm still betting on Froakie for the water starter, everyone is crazy about it, and I don't believe Game freak would let this opportunity slide lmao
For the fire starter though, I really haven't the foggiest idea. It could be anyone, except probably Fuecoco since it's so recent. I would really like to see Torchic tho :')
Guess I'm going with Snivy/Froakie/Torchic!

(But then again, there's always the chance that they decide to use the original Kalos trio, which wouldn't be so bad tbh, I think they're a solid bunch. Maybe if they really want to market this game as a continuation/expanded version of X&Y they'd go with that. Guess we'll find out when the next trailer drops.)
 
It's kinda hard to predict. In Legends Arceus we got new regional evolutions for three mix-and-match starters. In Legends Z-A, we know that Mega Evolution is returning. They may well forego the regional-evolution in favour of new Mega forms for whatever starters they choose - in which case, they may simply give us the ordinary Kalos starters, with new Mega evolutions.

If they don't go with the default Kalos starters, I'm guessing the Kanto and Hoenn starters will be ruled out of consideration, because they each have Mega evolutions, and it'd be pretty stilted to give one of them a regional evolution when they ought to have their original Mega. I dunno. I'm complicating it, clearly.
 
It would be fun to see Snivy since it hasn't got much love (being forms, special moves, etc.) as far as I know. Piplup is definitely my favorite Gen 4 starter, so if we could have it back that would be great! I don't have any good candidates in my head for fire starters since I don't particularly like any of them, except Cyndaquil but that was just a starter in Legends Arceus. Second favorite fire starter is probably Torchic, but it seems more likely Litten since it hasn't been used for a while and doesn't have a gimmick form.

Please Game Freak Snivy and Piplup! :woop:
 
C'mon guys, obviously the starters will be Charmander (with held item Charizardite X), Charmander (with held item Charizardite Y), and Charmander (with new held item Charizardite Z as homage to the game's name).
 
if i had to make a guess, PLA had a starter from the last gen (gen 7), so i think we're probably getting one of the galar starters in Z-A.
