straight As

In most schools, it does affect the GPA. A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3, B- = 2.7...I don't remember if those are the exact numbers so give or take a few but that's the idea.

In my school it's just 4 for A and 3 for B (and so on). I don't know what the actual standard is, though.

I'm fairly certain that's right, Toujie!
I've learned something new today then. The concept of different "degrees" of grade levels affecting the GPA is foreign to me.
Just out of curiosity, how does letter grading work from where ever you're from?

I've actually done a little bit of internet searching following this and it seems that the A-/B+ system is actually more commonly found.

I imagine this change wouldn't really change my GPA that much though, I've gotten close to A about as often as nearly missing out on it.

Since starting college, I shoot for all A's. If I don't get it, well...that's really unfortunate. Failing is when I tried my best and only got a B. Or that I didn't try at all, thinking that it was easy, and got a B. So far, I've only gotten 3 B's though, which is ok...

I always make As or Bs because I don't let myself make anything less. I am so paranoid about failing(which growing up was a C or below for me) that I just dedicate myself to doing great. That said, I am a bit lazy and sometimes do fall behind in class because I just get tired of it, I always make sure I am prepared for big tests and exams to pass the class with a great grade :p

When I was in school anything below B was bad for me. I was terrible in English and made a few C's which got me upset but in the last term I had strait A's.

I got close to getting straight A's in fifth grade. Other than that, I got B's and C's most of the time. I did try hard to get A's though, and I think I did do that in some classes. The important thing is that I graduated with flying colors. \o/

I think the only class I failed was Spanish. However, that was due to the fact that I had numerous appointments. I don't remember for what though. I was just always absent and hardly learned anything from the class. :/ Other than that, I got good enough grades and a pretty good grade point average that I was able to graduate high school. XD As said in the thread about straight A's... I got close to making the honor roll in the fifth grade, but after that, things got much harder for me.

As an honors student at my university, I'm held to the standard of 3.5 (out of 4). Fulbright Scholars (teaching abroad) usually can't have under a 3.75 to even be looked at/considered. Unfortunately, this makes me rather perfectionism-required. x_o

However, mid-sophomore year, I started asking all of my professors to block my access to see my grades online. It worked like a charm, as I don't worry so much about a letter (which for me always needed to be an A, thinking even a B was horrifying) and rather focus on learning. And with a 3.79 now, my GPA doesn't seem to even move anymore.

whenever I get a D or an F (which is rare) I just kinda laugh it off and try not to do that awful next time. my work ethic is very low when it comes to school-related things so it's rare that I'll study for tests at all, really; thankfully I manage to do well on them regardless. I get A's and B's.

In elementary/middle school, I failed almost everything. I did absolutely awful. Then, when high school came around, my mom promised me $500 if I got straight A's, obviously not actually expecting me to get it. But I did. And then I held myself to the standard of high grades from then on... I never got anything lower than a B, even without needing the promise of money.

I do care about grades a lot; and anything under a B gets on my nerves, but usually I make upwards of that so generally don't have to worry. When in school, I'm usually focused, and I can easily learn what's been taught, but when I have to study, I falter. Not the best at studying, so if I don't quite get a concept that was lectured on during class, chances are I won't get it for the entirety of the unit, causing me to get a low grade on the exam.

My grades were poor, but I didn't and don't consider myself to have failed at anything. I'm not an academic.

The grading system is about as broadly indicative of someone's intelligence as giving them a diploma for putting a peg in the right hole.

My current grade in the English class I'm taking now is like a D or low C if I'm not mistaken. I'm like barely passing lol. The last time I checked with my teacher she said I was still passing so really that's really all that matters to me. I'd like to see if I can get my D up to a C with this last paper and the final tomorrow though. We will see what happens. Honestly though, if I get at least a C, I'm satisfied. A D is a little less tolerable, but if I can only achieve that in this class, I'd be okay with it. Getting a B or an A is even better in my opinion since it shows how focused I was the whole 5 months or so when I took the class. Art is easier for me to get an A in so hopefully when I'm drawing next semester, my grades will be better. :)

Ah, school. Good times.
A = excellent lovely moving on
B = I'll take this no matter what tbh
C =
if it's a strong subject > I could probably do better. Ah well, it's a pass.
weak subject > I live to see another day. <3 (getting anything under a C was when people would get on my case for underachieving heavily)
D or worse =
if it's a strong subject > this never really happened except a couple of odd exams in sixth form where I got REALLY lax. I shat bricks and fixed it of course.
if it's a weak subject > oh ♥♥♥♥. oh well. (I got an E in General Studies, my only sub-C grade in school. 8D)

university reactions for kicks. 70%+ was needed overall for the top degree classification which I got of course. <3
100% = this happened once. My friend who'd basically copied a load of my stuff rubbed in that he'd got like 90-something% on this in my face when we got this one back. I reminded him just who'd been copying. 8D
80%+ = awesome I am a god all bow your feeble numbers are nothing against me.
70-79% = yep this went very much to plan and I am happy with this.
60-69% = oh it'll do.
50-59% = this is definitely the module I'm not counting
40-49% = yes I scraped a pass in the module that I wasn't counting this year! / first year doesn't count so this is job done
39%- = this never happened. as if I'd fail. pfffffft.
