I like having clones, I like Dark pit and Dr. Mario quite a bit, even though i still plat their respective base characters.

Same here, I think clone characters are lovely additions if done correctly. Dark Pit and Dr. Mario are wonderful examples, so is Lucina and Toon Link. They just different fighting styles slightly and have slightly altered stats.

Last night on my 3DS, I did a FFA smash with all four players being lv.9 CPUs and just red, yellow, green, and blue characters, all with four lives stocked. Yellow Team just was non-stop champions. The fight with the Charizards, Greninjas, and Links was just epic with sudden comebacks and sudden knockouts.

My question is has anyone just put all players as CPU and watch their combat for show?

I don't understand why people get mad about clones.

It's not like they take up much time in the development, and it adds more characters to the roster, it's not like you have to play as them. I'd rather play as Dark Pit with only slight differences to his moves than play as black-haired Pit and pretend he was another character.
They hate clones because:

1. They didn't want these characters to be clones in the first place (they provided their own movesets to be their own original characters prior to their reveals)
2. They're not Ridley (or any well-requested character they've been predicting for the past six years)

They use Brawl mods and Project M to de-clone these characters as a way to give a message to Sakurai that their ideas are better than the original developers.

I haven't, but the closest thing was putting my amiibos duking each other out last night.

It's easy to claim someone did better than the developers when the modders have no time constraints, no pressure from outside sources, and none of their own money at stake when they release their mod. The modders don't have "Better ideas", just fewer real limitations.

Besides, taking away clones would just make the roster smaller, it wouldn't make them add Ridley, Goku, Shrek, or Hank Hill.

Yes, It is fun to watch, I also do all amiibo matches from time to time.

The fans get the impression that the developers have enough time and resources, and they weren't sold on the statement that it takes about a year to make a full-fledged character. This mentality depends on whether or not you're that dedicated to a franchise to the point where any reason why a feature wasn't present is inexcusable (just look at the fans at /vp/ bashing ORAS for the lack of a Battle Frontier).

Sorry to deter the conversation back to the subject of amiibo... but does anyone know when we can pre-order the wave 4 amiibo in North America?

Perhaps I should just call my local Gamestop, but I dunno... I just really don't wanna miss out on acquiring a Robin and Lucina amiibo.

I don't thing they are preorderable here yet but I may be wrong.

Wave Four is going to released in North America sometime in the spring alongside the new Super Mario series Wave 1 set. It excepted that April will be Wave 4's release month as Wave 3 is going to be released very soon in February. Pre-Order wise, that is sadly not available to the public (yet); most likely will be up for ordering in either mid-Feb or early-March, though I don't think you have to worry about it being sold out either. The Big N seems to be well-aware of the amiibo situation and stocks them accordingly.

When it comes to the different waves of amiibos, one wave that I will be wondering about is which wave the Greninja amiibo will be in. Course one of the reason why I would wonder about is I would be very interested in that amiibo for collection purposes. Another reason is Greninja is my number one main, and I plan to buy that amiibo.

I suspect that wave five will have the greninja amiibo since there is a only so many un-amiibo'd left (yup, I made a new word today). We do know that wave four will be coming with Robin, Lucina, Charizard, Ness, Pac-Man, and Wario, which is in the spring, April to be correct. There is also the concept of amiibo trading cards going around that will function the same way as the figures do, but I hope it doesn't; I like the figures personally.

But yes, Wave Five; now this is just theory, my opinion on it, is going to feature six or seven amiibos in its line. Greninja, Palutena, Ganondorf, Falco, R.O.B., Olimar, and/or Jigglypuff. I don't know why, but I just have a feeling its going to be these characters, as the release date for this wave is just opinion, but most likely early May or early June. That's just my thoughts.

I have a different theory. Wave 1 included 12 amiibos, Wave 2 included 6, Wave 3 included 11, and Wave 4 includes 6 again, which means Wave 5 could include 11-12 amiibos, which I'm sure will include Greninja as one of them, along with the last remaining characters from the starting roster.

It could be; it might not be, still its a good theory. One of the main issues I have with your concept is how would the new Mario series and possibly other amiibo series (i.e.: Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, ect) would fit in. Knowing Nintendo they are most likely going to do more than just Smash and Mario series.

I don't think there will be a pokemon series of amiibo, just because there would be so few games to use them in. If and when Pokken comes to consoles I'd believe it, though.

On the subject of amiibos, does anyone else find level 50 ones to be super frustrating to fight? I have a pikachu at level 50 and it can curbstomp you if you're not extremely careful while fighting it.

Hey! Listen!

Super Smash Bros. Tournament for Wii U/3DS :) If anyone's interested and didn't notice!

--

I think Nintendo is going to push amiibos hard in the new year. We've got the new Mario ones coming out and I can't imagine what else they have in the works. Splatoon, Fire Emblem, you name it, I'm sure they're considering how to implement them.

Hey, Klippy. Just signed up for it. :)
Just need to know the date of when its going to happen is all.

I want to see the result from Splatoon's usage of Amiibo! Example, will you get a unique weapon, outfit, or skin for your character based on the amiibo? Or something more like a unique character overall? I'd love that.

It will be weekly. So after signups close, people can battle anytime during the following week. Then it'll just repeat like that til the final. :D

Sorry for the stupid question, but exactly how scarce are the GameCube controller adapters for the Wii U? I don't own a Wii U yet, but these adapters seem to be either out of stock or insanely expensive from where I've looked.

I would prefer to use a GameCube controller mostly because of all the tech skill grinding I've done in Project M, but I guess it wouldn't that bad to try out a different controller. =/

I've looked in many stores/retailers, and basically, very. Your best bet would be to buy one on eBay if you don't mind spending a fortune. Why they would practically discontinue such an awesome product makes no sense. Sometimes, nintendo's logic is beyond me.
