Alright, so the other thread relating to the extra name change that Crystal tiers and Platinum tiers received has started to go off-topic, so I'm creating this thread to satisfy some peoples seemingly simmering annoyance.

What are your opinions on the current supporter tier perks, and the supporter tiers themselves? To be clear, this thread doesn't JUST relate to perks, you can say how you feel about the supporter tiers themselves, what you see behind the user banners and so on.

I personally feel that supporter tiers are defined completely by the user banner you wear, and not the other perks you receive. The other perks are nice to have, but I feel that the only thing I notice upon looking at a supporter is their colour, relating to how much they have supported the community, and the actual fact that they HAVE supported the community, in whatever way is irrelevant.

In terms of perks, since this is a thread to talk about those too, and on the one hand I feel that the separation in terms of perks between Crystal and Platinum tiers is quite small, considering the amount Platinum tiers have donated. A slightly larger avatar, profile pic and css in the usertitle are quite... small differences shall we say? On the other hand I feel that actually being a part of the Platinum tiers is a distinction in itself, and again having the Platinum Supporter banner is more than enough for me; to be distinguished like that is quite humbling in my opinion.

Those are my thoughts anyway, yours?

Oh, and also this thread isn't for shutting others down with "you're a supporter, perks don't matter." because that is the point of this thread, to talk about them at the very least as if they matter. Yes, hypocritical of me, since I did that, but hey - I am the worlds biggest hypocrite. Anyway discuss.

Long time ago I said that Platinum tier supporters don't recieve really much as well. Someone said that I'm too egoistic and I only think about perks, so I stopped bothering with that and I'm fine with everything as it is right now and I'm glad to even have that rank. I might still donate in the future for my own satisfaction that I helped site more.

I am of the firm belief that all perks are fine like they are. You donated to support the community, not to make purchases for name changes, usertitles, blogs, etc. Sure those things are nice and fun to have but I feel like some people are too focused on "what else should we get" instead of acknowledging the fact that the entire purpose of the supporter system is about helping the community. We are pokecommunity supporters not pokecommunity customers.

If you make suggestions for perks you'd be interested in, we will look at them for future options. On that same vein, you have your own forum (VIP) which is basically rule-free and a hangout for supporters exclusively. We don't police this section heavily or enforce strict rules, so do with that what you will. Make this area your own and enjoy it.

Continuing on, Platinum tier is not an official tier of supporter. If you check out the Donations and FAQ, neither list Platinum because BEING that color IS a perk of donating a lot of money for Crystal tier. In the context of perks, Crystals = Platinums. The reward for donating more (besides our heartfelt appreciation that you care enough to donate so much) is that color. As it's not an official tier, it won't generally receive even more perks because we don't advertise that amount of donation.

I'm with Klippy here, because Platinum isn't listed in those areas that advertise the supporter system there doesn't need to be much difference between them and Crystals, and with the huge money difference it also explains why Platinums are the smallest and most elusive group on the supporter scene.

I know I never donated (someone gave mine as a gift) but ever since I was supportered, I have always felt like I have become more of a voice of the community. The perks are fun, but it's also fun getting involved in discussions that ask what you want out of PC itself.

I just want bigger avatars. Aside from that I literally could not care less about perks. That's not why I donated.

I don't want to sound ungrateful for my gift because I really do appreciate it (thanks Mage/Jupiter and anon - I really wish I knew who else donated for me, lol), but the only perks I ever really use regularly are the avatar/profile/usertitle ones.

Aside from those, I don't really visit VIP or encyclopedia forums all that much and I've never bothered to set up a blog here.

I don't really care about the perks. Donated as a thank you to Rukario for helping me recover my account at the time since it was tied to a deprecated e-mail I couldn't access anymore.

Was when it was still Tier 1, 2, 3, etc. and it was $5 for tier 1 and $10 for tier 2, got tier 1, and then later I felt like getting tier 2. Now they're both Silver tier :p
And I *think* at the time, Tier 2 had blogs, but now it's a Gold thing. Don't really mind either way.

I think ranks and perks are fine the way they are. I tend to agree that we generally aren't spending money to buy perks, we're doing it to support the community we love. Although in my case I have actually only ever donated for other people my own supportership was a result of a competition and gifts from friends.

In saying that though, I am glad that these perks exist because as much as I love this community I also would be somewhat more hesitant to give money if nobody was getting anything out of it.

Looks like some people forgot about having bigger avatars...

Bigger avatars and supporting PC, are more than enough for me to donate.

Only if my supportership wasn't a gift...

I'm on the same boat, someone who earned theirs via gift as opposed to donating themselves. I do enjoy the bigger avatars and expanded profile customization options, and with the latest system the customizable usertitles are nice. I do love supporting PC, even if opinions get divided and clash at times.

I'd gladly donate an extra $10 just to get a bigger avatar. 150x150 is too small for my tastes. :P

But yeah, I don't see the need for extra perks. We've donated our money for PC, and the perks are just a little thank you gift given to us. I'll be honest and say that if I have a lot of money I'd gladly donate on every site that I've been regularly using for years, because I want to. Will I get anything for donating at those sites? No, because that's the whole point about a donation.

But if we're talking about perks, VIP access as well as bigger avatars and profile pictures (and blogs, pre-2k posts to me), and customizable usertitles, really are enough for me.

i think the perks are fine. i think the only think i would want is maybe bigger avatars.

Wait, as far as I'm aware, crystal tiers get get 180x180 avatars, and I struggle to fill that as a Plat tier, with 200x200 as my limit. Lmao, is 180x180 really that small?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Like, I was surprised when I saw as a Plat tier I could have a 200x200 avatar. To me, that is more than big enough. And I work with graphics, so I know the sizes almost instinctively.

Either someone needs glasses or maybe is it me, but I honestly think at least 150x150 is fucking huge for an avatar on a forum. I've been to couple of forums and I have never seen limits so big. For instance d2jsp has 64x64 avatar limit only and it's the third biggest board on the world!

Just to make sure I didn't get off topic much. That was a really predictable reaction from most of users, since people really got used to everything. Donating more money is optional and "should" be considered as a good will of someone.

Lol, I have the "rezise large avatars" option turned on because I find it so annoying with avatars larger than 150x150 :p
