Who here owns a tablet? What are your thoughts on tablets in general? Is there a specific brand of tablets you would recommend to someone else?

I don't own my own tablet per se, more like it's my mother's - but yeah I do use it from time to time. Tablets are very convenient and act just like a mini laptop, only with an on-screen keyboard without a mouse, which is fine because it uses touch screens. One can use a tablet to surf the Internet, type documents, make slideshows, play games, take photographs/videos, and many more. When travelling, one would prefer to bring along a tablet instead of a bulkier and heavier laptop, unless one really needs a laptop because of work-related stuff. Although it has all of these advantages, people still prefer gravitating towards the traditional keyboard and mouse because touch screens offer a lower level of accuracy while navigating and creating word documents, plus most games are based on the laptop platform rather than tablets. As the only brand of tablet that I use is the iPad, I can only recommend that to others as that is all I know.

Can't go wrong with apple. I wanted to get a laptop but all I did was browse the internet, watch YouTube , and check my email. The iPad is easy to use light and most important battery life is excellent. Personally I think they are great for mobility but you are still gonna need a computer to get the serious work done.

I don't know am not really sold on them, They are useful if you just browse the web or use apps, but for me I find a laptop more useful, thanks to the keyboard and having more "power under the hood" so to speak, also websites tend to work better on PC than Tablet and you can play real PC spec games and watch DVD's.

I personally don't use a tablet. However, my aunt is an avid tablet user so I have plenty of chances playing it around. She loves it for movies, photos and some games. They just look so much better on a tablet.

She was cheated by a terrible salesman who sold her a worn out Galaxy Tab 2nd Gen. It was extremely sluggish and the camera didn't work at times. She knows nothing about tech, and bought the device simply because it was cheap. Since she loved movies and taking photos, I bought for her a 128GB iPad Air loaded with her favorite Cantonese serials. She loved it so much and it made me very happy. :)

    EDIT:
I'm not being anti-android in this post. Just felt really sad that such cheats are prevalent. That Galaxy Tab is nearly unusable.

Tablets in general are really pretty awesome. I have an Apple iPad Mini. I love it. I've had it for about a year now. Actually, my whole family uses it. I mainly use it to watch YouTube and Netflix. We recently went on vacation and bought it to take pictures instead of a regular camera. It takes amazing pictures. It's also the perfect size to carry around because its the mini :3 Would recommend!

I want to get a nice Android tablet, wifi only though because too poor4data5me. Android because I despise Apple with a passion for my own reasons I won't say. I'd use it to message people on Facebook and skype while playing a game since my laptop isn't powerful enough to handle all them programs open at once.

I have a Google Nexus, though it has some battery issues and my charger currently doesn't work for it. I need to get it replaced, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. It's really convenient, though.

I have a generic, 7 inch tablet that I still have for the past two years now. Once I save up for an iPad, I'm going to sell it or hand-me-down to my little sister who might need it for her schoolwork (she goes to a private school that relies on technology).

iPads have appealed to me lately, and I'm thinking of getting an older generation iPad, so that way I don't have to use my iPhone for on-the-go access to the net. (and I can use mobile data sharing between iPhone and iPad, AS WELL AS iMessaging!!)

halp i have become a completely insane apple fan

I used to have an iPad 2, well I still do but I really don't use it anymore because it kinda lost its appeal. It was fun for a while, though, so I might look into getting a Mini in the future, or another tablet like a Galaxy or Amazon tablet instead.

I too am a major Apple fan, but I wouldn't be completely unwilling to branch out someday.

My Asus Transformer was pretty handy until the screen broke. Only really used it to read e-mail though, so wasn't the best spending of money. Should've just kept my iPod touch so I could listen to music while walking.

I have a Nexus 7 (first gen), my mom has the Nexus 7 2nd gen.
The newer one was fantastic, but the older one was absolutely horrific (apparently, the SSD Asus used was faulty...)
I'd recommend the new Nexus 7, the Surface RT, or the iPad mini
iPad's the best one imo, though, Surface RT is a close second.

I have the first Surface Pro, I might replace it by the Surface Pro 3, which Launched a few days ago.
I find iPads to limited, and Android Tablets feel like Toys to me, while Windows 8.1 Pro Tablets feel like everything I need, to be productive.

I have a Dell Venue 8. I find them more useful when it comes to work. Albeit it is beneficial for some games that require larger screens...

My mom bought me a tablet on my birthday before... I use it to play game and drawing art...
