The Count To Infinity - v12

I got Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, but never played it. One of those steam sale games I've yet to play =P

I'm pretty much just waiting for distortions to form in PLA atm, as you can't wish them into existence and this specific one has a mon I still need to do tasks on... and it's only found in distortions (Magnemite). And distortions can't form during storms... This area seems to have a lot of them. Ugh... also need to just wait and not do stuff as various things will pause the timer for distortions.
Also combining this with a rather annoying task of seeing Aipom jump out of trees. Need to see 15 and there's like 2 trees in the entire dang game that can have one in it.
Only task in this area I'm making steady progress on is catching and defeating Vulpix, which is a somewhat rare spawn.

I have read the first book and it was very boring and slow. I don't remember the movies.
I should rewatch the movies, but I don't want to rent them on Youtube... 15 CAD each to buy them, or 5 CAD each to rent them :(

Tolkien was a very descriptive writer and could get long winded when setting up a scene. It's not for everybody.

I have the books (including the hobbit) and the movies are honestly much more accessible.

Why read the books when you can play the games? :P

The Hobbit was written as a story for his children so that's why it's easier than Lord of the Rings. Tolkien was also a World War 1 veteran that's where a lot of the descriptive imagery of Middle Earth comes from.

He actually fought on the same battlefield as Adolf Hitler. (Battle of Somme).

I used to read a ton, but these days I'm not really into it. The last book I tried to get through had a part near the middle that took me out of it completely, and even before that I hadn't read anything in years. At this point I just don't bother with books anymore.

Formally, when we browse the Internet, we spend our time reading :coolrim:
The only books I read nowadays are maths books, for my work.

I've been part of an email bookclub since November that's really helped me read more. The pace is only 3 chapters a week, which is very manageable, and it's interesting to hear the other members' thoughts when we all email each other to update on Saturday. I just finished "Lullaby" through it, and I feel like it helped me slow down and understand the plot more instead of just rushing through.

I recently finished the third book in the Witcher series and moved on to the fourth one. I'm also ready a collection of Terry Pratchet short stories that I randomly found in a book store a while ago.

Oh, coincidentally, I started reading the Witcher series a couple days ago.

I'm finishing up The Last Wish.
