I'd presume it means "My Little Pony". (b'-')b

It is a combination of things. The amount of activity, the significance to all the members (new and old), the life of the thread (its been there since the beginning), the impact it can have on new members to the forum, and the fact it is one of the only parts of the forum the almost everyone visits. You can take each one of those individual things and apply them to one thread or another over the entire site, but DCC is probably the only one that you could apply all of them to. And that is why it deserves a spot on the front page.If we're considering significance and length of survival, I would rank the DCC straight up there with a few of our games in Other Trivia. Threads like "The One Above" or "Ban the Person Above" have been around since we all can remember, and in fact always travel from Forum to Forum. You'll find those types of threads in any forum that has a booming community and an equivalent to PC's off-topic discussion board.
The DCC is no different. It, too, passes from board to board. Although you might argue that Other Trivia is just composed of mindless games, the DCC is composed of nothing more than chit-chat. Am I wrong?
And 2000 posts in 2 weeks is an insane amount of posts. And I agree that this should be left up to the forum moderator. The latest incarnation of the DCC has had 2000 posts in the past two weeks, js. So It's for sure one of the most active threads on PC, thus warranting a quick link, in my opinion. Personally, I think it should be left up to the section moderator.

No offense to you but that's a terrible idea lol.
I meant for all the forums, say, if Twilightblade wants a certain thread, say the Quick Trade Thread to be the 'Quick link' thread, I would advocate that she should have say over the decision, is all. Hypothetically speaking of course, Marz. You know how Hstaff can be in changing things, etc. :/ I don't see any changes happening though, to be honest. It's nice, but all you really have to do is make one more mouse click. So.... yeah.
Hmm I get what you're saying. But if we were going as far as to let mods decide what threads in their particular forums deserve a shortcut, there'd be a bunch of shortcuts that no one uses on the bar first of all lol. And secondly if we're going through all that trouble we may as well just let members customize their shortcuts.
Well yeah, we can bicker all we want and it's all up to the hstaff in the end.
Customizing shortcuts would be more effective and simple, imo. I think that was brought up in CQ&F awhile back, IIRC. :o
I support it. Like it or not, the DCC is essentially the go-to thread in OC. It's almost always active these days and it's a catch-all for discussion and chat. Other threads come and go but this one is different. I realize it's already stickied, so I can see the "what's the point?" argument but it certainly doesn't hurt to link to the more important threads. :/ And this one is definitely important from an activity standpoint.
We use thread shortcuts in the staff forums so I guess I'm really used to them and that's why I have no issues putting them in other forums.
I would definitely say for DCC or New User Hangout...it would have to be the latest page...but anything else that would have rules or something on the first page...then first page would take precedent...The only issue for me is that I don't know whether I'd want them to link to the "latest page" or the first page. :( I wanna say latest (since that's what's relevant for me re: DCC), but for most threads it's more important that the first post is read above all else, haha.
