Welcome to the Video Games forum, adventurer! Similar to Post-A-Thon challenges we've had in the past, the intention of this "game" is to boost activity and reward users for frequenting the forum, but with a few fun RPG elements added.

Unlike your typical Post-A-Thon, there will not be an end date to the event; this will be an ongoing adventure for regulars of the Video Games forum, and you can always return to keep growing your character!

GETTING STARTED

All you need to do to begin is to pick a class - copy the template under your chosen hero, give them a name and post it in this thread; you will keep editing your first post here to keep track of your character's progress. There can be more than one of the same class, so if someone's picked your favorite, you can still choose it for yourself.

Be sure to copy the entire code/don't accidentally copy more than what's in your box - I realize I made the boxes a bit too small and it makes copying a little difficult, but the page looks neater this way. :P

EXP & LEVELING UP

Your hero starts at level 1, and for every 10 EXP you gain, you will level up!

VIA POSTING

For each post or thread you make on the Video Games forum, you will gain 2 EXP.
For each post you make in the DCC, you will gain 1 EXP.

VIA EVENT PARTICIPATION

WEEKLY ARCADE
- For earning 1st place, you will gain 25 EXP.
- For earning 2nd place, you will gain 20 EXP.
- For earning 3rd place, you will gain 15 EXP.

WEEKLY TRIVIA
- For each question you answer correctly per set, you will gain 1 EXP.
- For getting the entire set right, you will gain an additional 15 EXP.

As more events crop up, there will be more event-related ways to earn EXP; keep your eyes peeled!

OTHER THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

Please don't make spammy topics and posts just for the sake of leveling up - I won't specify any hard rules on what qualifies as "spam" unless I feel I have to, but I trust your judgment and that you will know what the difference between meaningful discussion and post-farming is.

GOLD SYSTEM AND SHOPS

If you've made a few posts around the place, chances are you have some

gold jingling in your pockets already! Here's where you spend it on various weapons and vanity items. You earn gold the same way as EXP:

VIA POSTING

For each post or thread you make in the Video Games forum, you will earn

5.
For each post you make in the DCC, you will earn

VIA EVENT PARTICIPATION

Could work on something like that! I was thinking of adding gold and an item shop where you can buy vanity armor and weapons, but if we want to actually "play" the game I could make the items actually functional. There's a ton of directions we could take this, glad you guys are enjoying it so far. :)

And... do we write EXPs as overall amount or simply EXP on the level? (So, if you level up, you have 10 EXP or level 2 with 0 EXP?)

I think people should find a way to separate their quest logs into certain sections such as posts in other Video games threads and threads started. I might as well do it then.

obviously posts in this topic won't count in the quest progress. That would be WAY TOO CHEAP.

Good questions!

While our DCC isn't really spammy and there is often quality discussion there, I do want to encourage housing any long-term discussions in their own threads and boosting the activity of the rest of the forum, so I'll say posts in the DCC will give 1 EXP. I'll add that to the OP.

Re: EXP - I see people doing it both ways and I think either is fine as long as there's no confusion as to where you are level-wise - you have your Quest Log and LVL counter so it's all easily verifiable and just depends on how you want to keep track of your own score. Personally I'm more used to seeing cumulative EXP.

That's a good idea - I think as I expand on the system I'll come out with a new template that will make things easier to look through/sort. And yes, posts here won't count, haha.

Also emblems have been made, adding them to the OP right now!
