Geodude with his Defense curl gave me the most trouble, as even after I lowered his accuracy as much as possible he would still hit nearly every defense curl. As a result there ended up being no point in trying to use tail whip on him.

Okay, so last time I posted I had just beaten Wattson, so a lot of stuff has happened since. Among other things (story stuff, mostly) I've caught a Swablu, a Skarmory and a Xatu. And evolved Swablu, which means I now have a full team. No mega this time around, because Altaria loses its Flying-type upon mega evolution. Pelipper destroyed Flannery, and because he carries Protect, he destroyed Norman, as well. Skarmory took out Winona, and we got ROOST! Just recently, Xatu and Skarmory took out Liza & Tate, and now I guess I'm off to put and end to Team Magma's evil schemes!

I guess since I actually started this yesterday (I meant to make this post sooner, and got carried away with the game) I should go ahead and update my progress:

My journey so far…

Spoiler:

• Name is Violet. Rival is Green. Picked Bulbasaur, named Kermit.
• Got off to a pretty rough start; had to use the Potion from my PC to just barely beat Green's Charmander.
• Did initial quest for map and PokéDex, avoided Green in Viridian City (no way Kermit could beat Charmander and Pidgey at that point).
• Caught a Weedle, named Needle, he evolved to Kakuna on the way accross Viridian Forest.
• Challenged Brock, beat him handily thanks to Kermit's Vine Whip, Needle evolved to Beedrill.
• Caught a male Nidoran on the way to Mt. Moon, named Thistle.
• Beat Team Rocket in Mt. Moon, caught a Zubat named Prince (didn't realize she was a she), picked Omanyte (randomly), and forgot the rival battle came before and not after the Nugget Bridge; got my butt handed to me by Green.
• Grinded, caught an Ekans named Basil, Thistle evolved to Nidorino, and I fed him a Moon Stone immediately so he could become Nidoking.
• Beating Green is suddenly easy.
• Beat the Nugget Bridge while specifically training Basil.
• Met Bill, got ticket, came back to Cerulean City.
• Misty was surprisingly easy to beat thanks to Ivysaur's Sleep Powder + Razor Leaf (I usually struggle for not postponing Bulbasaur's evolution and being stuck with Vine Whip).
• Taught Basil Dig, trekked it down to Vermilion, regretted not catching a second male Nidoran to trade for Ms. Nido.
• Grinded on the S.S. Anne, once more forgot about the rival battle, once more lost to Green (darned Pidgeotto).
• Insta-rematched and won.
• Got Cut, at this point decided that Needle was essentially unneeded and relegated him to HM Cut Slave.
• Beat Lt. Surge like nothing thanks to Basil's Dig and Thistle's Double-Kick.
• Turned a previously caught Pikachu into HM Flash Slave, used him to light my way through the Rock Tunnel.
• Arrived in Celadon City, beat Erika easily thanks to Prince's Aerial Ace (don't remember where I got that TM tbh).
• Beat Team Rocket in the Game Corner.
• Beat Team Rocket in the Lavender Tower.
• Trekked it down to Fuchsia City, barely managed to beat Koga, but beat him nonetheless. Prince turning into da real MVP.
• Realized I need National Dex to evolve Prince into Crobat… realized I need 60 caught Pokémon for National Dex, I'm nowhere close… caught Venonat, named Fuzz.
• Forgot how to get into Saffron City, checked Bulbapedia, darned Tea.
• Got into Saffron City, beat the Dojo, took Hitmonlee at random.
• Beat Team Rocket and Giovanni again in Silph Co., didn't forget about Green this time #timetogetrektson B| yeeeeeeeeah!
• Got a Master Ball. Whatevs, put it in my PC.
• Avoided literally every. single. Gym Trainer in Sabrina's Gym, managed to beat her on my first try somehow (Fuzz and Needle… helped).
• Pokémon catching/evolving montage!
• While in the Safari Zone got the Warden's teeth and HM Surf, taught Surf to Thistle.
• Realized I need to beat the Pokémon League for National Dex… *sigh*
• Trekked it down to Cinnabar Island, rushed through the Pokémon Mansion, got the key, challenged Blaine.
• Blaine's last Pokémon, Arcanine, managed to survive Thistle's Surf and 2HKO him; Basil got the revenge kill with Dig.
• Went to Sevii Islands, beat the cyclists, found Lostelle, caught the Hypno, took a quick break to write this.

UPDATE: I just beat Giovanni for the Earthbadge!

• Kermit single handedly took the majority of his Gym trainers, allowing Prince to handle the Black Belts, and Basil to handle the odd Nidorina/Nidorino.
• As for the battle itself, Kermit OHKO'd his two Rhyhorns and his Dugtrio, and Thistle took out his Nidoqueen and left his Nidoking in the red before getting taken out by a second Earthquake. Basil took the revenge kill. All in all, easy battle.

Update: I made my way through Victory Road, and reached the Indigo Plateau, ready to take on the Elite Four.

VS Lorelei

• Lorelei turned out to be far more difficult than I expected, I was able to rely on Growth-boosted Kermit to take out her part-Water types, and Jynx I dealt with using Thistle's Fire Blast.
• Not much else to say, other than that I had to save scum a bit to make it past her, anyways, the rest of the E4 should be easier to beat, right?

VS Bruno

• As anticipated, beating Bruno was a cakewalk, his two Onixes crumbled before Kermit's Razor Leaves, and Prince handled his Fighting-types accordingly.
• His Machamp was scary, so I tagged Basil in for the paralysis and got a couple of Smokescreens up thanks to Doris (all hail the sacrifice) before Prince did her thing.

VS Agatha

• Wow, I am really unprepared here.
• Some more save scumming allowed me the luck I needed to help Prince beat her Haunter and her Gengars.
• Thistle handled her Golbat easily with Shock Wave, and her Arbok with Earthquake (this part was a breeze, I guess…)

VS Lance

• I expected this fight to be a lot more difficult actually, considering that my only viable option counter to all of his Pokémon was Thistle after I got rid of Fire Blast to teach him Blizzard.
• Gyarados got 2HKOd by Shock Wave, I sac'ced Basil for Paralysis on Aerodactyl who also got 2HKOd with Surf, I then barely managed to beat his Dragonite after he didn't punish my first Blizzard miss, I sac'ced Prince to the first Dragonair to heal Thistle, before he got OHKOd with Blizzard, and the last Dragonair I 2HKOd with Earthquake.
• Thistle = MVP, Kermit = LVP (I guess? he's the only sacrifice who didn't make it to the front of the line tbf).

VS Green

• Pidgeot is tougher than anticipated, Blizzard + Shock Wave don't 2HKO.
• He switches to Rhydon on my Shock Wave… cheeky. I prepare to OHKO with Earthquake… I don't. Thistle gets OHKOd by Earthquake instead.
• Kermit revenge kills Rhydon with Razor Leaf, he brings out Alakazam.
• Alakazam sweep on lock, I ain't got nothing for Green. :(

In conclusion, I have an underleveled team and only made it this far thanks to save scumming, and this Alakazam is pretty much completely impossible to beat as of now, so I guess I should simply focus on training Kermit and Thistle (and Prince a bit, to make the Agatha fight easier), and come back in ten levels… *sigh*

After finishing up the Pokemon Mansion, i went to find my next team member, a Tentacool/cruel named Jelly. I took out other trainers i missed before to train it up to level 17. I then went to fight Blane. Jelly wasn't strong enough, so KingNiro had to handle it. After that, i went to Viridian City to destroy Giovanni. SeedBro was the mvp of this gym, sweeping everyone. Now i'm currently taking on my rival again, after losing once.

Ultimate Water Type Challenge Update
Game: Platinum

Challenged Gardenia once I felt leveled up enough. It was eas... OH MY GOSH ROSERADE JUST DESTROYED ME.
Another blackout later, I decide that it was going to be the success or my withdrawal from challenge. I start with Bimbo (Bibarel) and dispatch Turtwig and Cherrim with under half HP left. With Roserade out, I was not sure where to go. Down goes Bimbo, Shelly (Shellos) and Tanya (Buizel) follow. This leaves me with Sidney (Prinplup) vs Roserade with a quarter HP left. Peck doesn't finish her off and Magical Leaf cuts deep. On the Super Potion, Sidney scores a crit. Roserade comes with another Magical Leaf which leaves Sidney with 2 HP. Sidney takes the win with a final peck.

Fantina and Maylene were pretty easy. Caught Quincy (Finneon). Crasher Wake was difficult but with the evolving of Quincy, Tanya and Shelly. Wore down Gyrados (and hyper potion) with Quincy, Quagsire was easy but Floatzel took down most of my team until Tanya pulled it out with Crunch.

Byron was the easiest gym so far. Currently at Snowpoint getting ready for the showdown with Candice.

Went out and while I chose Charmander he's chilling in my party doing nothing but will be there for Cut and such(at least I think he can learn that?...) More like a mascot for now. But anyway, the real updates and such. Caught a Rattata and named her Numa, I know I wont be disappointed she's gunna be great. So we soloed through the optional rival battle and Viridian Forest together and finally faced Brock after some training. I did use Charmander as a way to remove the Screeches but just cause I didnt want Numa to keep refighting Beock due to defense lowered+killing. She spammed Tail Whip and killed all quick. Afterward we headed toward Mt Moon and soloed more trainers, killing their Pokemon and learning Hyper Fang the most OP move ever nnnngh all joking aside I do love Hyper Fang. We caught a Jigglypuff and named him Tonn, and taught him Water Gun so he could fight things before learni Pound at like 8? It was stupid honestly but whatever. After thinking about it I went ahead and caught Clefairy too, and named her Fae. Grinded Tonn and Fae on the way to Cerulean and got 2 Moon Stones so thosell come in handy. Also beat everyone to Bill and got the team to Level 20, evolving Numa. We took on Misty and all I have to say is Hyper Dang. ......No? Fine. After getting the Cascade Badge and Bubblebeam(thats gunna also come in handy....) we got Dig and caught a Meowth above the DayCare and named him Puffy after a cat I once had. So we then went to Saffron...except the guard wouldnt let us in cause hes thirsty. So we took the underground(much more appropriate for a ten year old) and headed towards Vermillion and the SS Anne. Training there now.

YUUUUS! Through a combination of hax, luck, and a whole lot of patience (and soft resets), I finally beat Green despite being so underleveled. Next up: HeartGold!

VS Pidgeot

• Like I mentioned last update, Blizzard + Shock Wave didn't OHKO this guy, so I had to rely on Blizzard's awful accuracy to kill the darned bird.
• Ironically, I beat it very easily on my first try, taking only a Feather Dance between hits… then Charizard swept me.
• On my triumphant try, I managed to land the very last Blizzard on it after two Sand-Attacks (and here I thought this one was going exceptionally wrong)

VS Alakazam

• This guy had the ability to OHKO my entire team, but Green tended to use Future Sight as his first attack, or Quick Claw (on Kermit) allowed me to put him to sleep.
  
  
• I needed two Growths to OHKO this guy with Frenzy Plant, thankfully (luckily), he only woke up once on me.

VS Charizard

• Words cannot explain…
• Revives, Max Potions, and sacrificial lambs… what would I have done without you?
• I only managed to beat Charizard once… thankfully, I doubt my ability to repeat that feat, I got he missed a Fire Blast against my Arbok, who managed to get a Glare in before dying, got him confused thanks to Prince, and got like four Smokescreens on him before he OHKO'd Doris (a second time)
• This specific part of the battle was too convoluted and stressful, tbh

VS Rhydon

• Kermit OHKOs with Frenzy Plant, I lol.

VS Exxeggutor

• Confuse Ray + Poison Fang; Prince haxrekt this guy. #datearlycavestruggle

VS Gyarados

• Ahh… the guy who almost messed the whole thing.
• Surprisingly, at this point the only KO'd Pokémon I had were Doris, Ms. Nido, and Basil.
• By the end of this battle, only Thistle was still standing #MVP
• Shock Wave doesn't do as much damage as I want it to, and Gyarados kills Thistle.
• I decide to confuse the Gyarados with Prince, it hurts itself in confusion! (thank you God!)
• Poison Fang poisons 'dos, and then Prince gets rekt by Dragon Rage.
• It's all up to you Kermit, oh, I just remembered, he was asleep at this point *facepalm*
• Revive Nidoking, 'dos uses Thrash. Max Potion Nidoking, 'dos is Thrashing about, Kermit dies.
• Shock Wave, third Thrash and Gyarados gets confused.
• I get Dragon Rage'd and Thistle tanks it like a boss… Shock Wave ends it… I'm still in disbelief. #ThistleMVP #YouSpecial #YouSmart #BuyYoMammaAHouse

Beat Lt Surge in one go spamming Pay Day from Puffy and Hyper Famg from Numa(of course...). Pay Day is awesome we have like 30+ Super Potions. :'D Caught a Spearow and Pidgey to obtain the HM 05 Flash for Rock Tunnel though I wont be using them(despite them being dual Normal). Tonn and Far also evolved when I thought it was right for them to. Currently outside Rock Tunnel and gunna play tommorow.

beat the crap outta rock tunnel by using flash then got to celadon from lavender town and beat Erika and the Rocket Game Corner stuff. Berry the eevee joined our team, the only nfe pokemon. ^^ Got a water for the guard and beat the fighting dojo but left the pokemon. Loaded my team with tms so they could fight ghosts later since only two could hit ghosts then fought silph/giovanni and got the silph scope, took it to pokemon tower and ohkod the poor marowak mother with ice beam and took out rockets. After getting the pokeflute we failed the first snorlax attepmt but got the second one by celadon. Took a pokedoll to copycat because thats flipping adorable. charmander finally had to go in the pc this time tho. Hope we dont need cut again now... Trying to find the bike shop/voucher but we will eventually....i havent played this far into kanto in a while... <w<;;;;
