The New Super Smash Bros. Brawl Thread

Epic two dimensional fighting game with 3D graphics, tons of diversity, random 'wtf a giant slug just ate me' moments, and a large online competitive scene.

Brawl is pretty balanced compared to Melee, and it has less general advanced techs (wavedashing, for example) and more character-specific ones (gliding, BANANZA, chain grabbing) so you really have to know your character and your opponent's character to play well. Competitive or casual, it's a great game to play.

The game is based on beating up on your foe, racking up a damage meter, and the sole purpose it hitting them off the screen. (yes the tv screen)

Superb graphics, specific styles fit to each character, and possibly the best wii game so far (Mario galaxy is up there with it)
I think you should get it, if you have 49.99, go get it when it comes out in "near a bunny" land.

Other great things about the game: Storyline, excellent. Hidden Characters, fun to unlock. And other great pluses others have said above me.

My top choice as a favorite would be Ganondorf's Final Smash; it's not much but I was surprised. When I first unlocked Ganondorf I did not expect him to transform into Ganon. I would say that is the perfect Final Smash for him. Second choice, Meta Knight. I like how almost the entire screen turns into darkness, foreshadowing the attack on his opponent(s). Last, Wario's Final Smash. Transforming into Wario Man is an idealistic move that suits Wario for who he current is now ("Faster than a donut, stronger than cardboard!").

I have not unlocked everyone yet, since I'm slow at playing and not very skilled, but it's about fun anyway. I don't know if I have a top favorite, but I'll just list the ones that appeal to me in a random order; whichever ones pop into my head first.

Bowser's Final Smash is awesome, because he looks even more bad-arse... to me anyway. Even if I am unable to fight effectively.

Meta Knight's Final Smash is awesome too, even though it is hard because of the short range. But when he's all like, "Behold my power," or something like that, and everything goes dark, then a sudden slash.... so cool.

Ike's Final Smash. This shouldn't be surprising. It seems everyone's impressed with his, including me. I think my mouth falls open every time I land a hit with that. I did not know you could hit more than one enemy with it though... this calls for testing...

Link's/Toon Link's Final Smash. I have not unlocked toon link yet, but they have the same one, and I think it's awesome and impressive. Fun to watch...

Zelda's/Shiek's Final Smash. Pretty basic, but cool to me nonetheless. However, I usually miss than hit, but when it does, it shows the slow-motion of their pain... such a wonderful sight.

Marth's Final Smash. It isn't as flashy as most others I've seen, but when it connects, it seems that it's a guaranteed knockout... assuming they don't counter, or dodge, leaving you open for a nasty attack, or if you SD yourself. Good times, good times...

Pokemon Trainer's Final Smash. Can't say much about this one since I just like it. Feel the power of pokemon with... teamwork..? Yeah...
"It's Super Effective!"

Luigi's Final Smash. I am actually surprised I am putting this down. When I found out what he does, I thought it was ridiculously stupid, but when I did it for the first time, I actually laughed out loud. He's got some hidden issues, me thinks...

King DeDeDe's Final Smash. Think whatever you want with the reason I will give, but I actually like the weird music playing, or when he starts chanting, or whatever the heck he's doing... and his little lackies are everywhere. Yay.

Lucas'/Ness' Final Smash. The comets can do heavy damage, and it's awful when used against me, but it's possible to dodge them. I have been able to not get hit by even one, or I get massacred. Depends. I bet it's really chaotic-looking with four people though... *evil grin*

Well, that's all I can think of, since I don't have everyone yet. I have seen some final smashes with online gameplay videos, but it feels that I can't really judge them until I am the one who performs it.

Link's Triforce Slash and Zelda's Light Arrow are my favorites. I mean, trapping an enemy for a multi-slice combination, and then...wait for it...HYAAAH! YOU GOT SMASH'D! BEGONE, VILLAINOUS CUR!!! I love that!

Thank you everyone! Its sounds like a fun game, so I'll proabaly getting it soon. Thanks agian. ALso, Does ayone know about the Wi-Fi of it?

Yes it has wifi, a ton of wifi, you can go on wifi and brawl with anyone in the world, very fun!

And you can get your friends codes of friends, and brawl with them, I recently brawled dr.stiles for like an hour of fun!

And also on wifi, you can even watch others play, and bet on who will win!
Another and, you can tag team with any random person on wifi too!

So many wifi abilities for an even more enjoyable fun experience!

The only final Smash I've ever seen would be Fox's.

I did not like it very much at any rate.. =/

I've really only played story mode, aside from two bouts in practice mode. So I haven't seen any of the others.
I thought they'd be shown in the story at least once.. ^^; how wrong was I huh?

The final smashes I usually use:

Mario: You have to love the fireball thing XD

Pit: Pretty basic, but if you got a slow opponent, your guaranteed a KO.

Zelda/Shiek: Also pretty basic, but you gotta love her <3

DeDeDe: lol

Snake: Awesome Final Smash. It KO'd me from the start.

That's all I really use I guess. I know I forgot people, but those are the people I remember.

Super Smash Bros Brawl Australian Release...

Does anyone know a ballpark figure for the release in Australia? Surely it shouldn't be more than 1-2 months away at the very most. I cannot seem to find it anywhere.

Regards,

~T_S

The PAL release (Europe and Australia) will be in October DDDD:

Can't confirm the day, though.

My favorites:

Ness/Lucas: You gotta love it. Somes you just want to yell it out with them. I mean who could resist shouting "PK STAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRSTOOOOOOORRRRRRRMMMMMMMM!!"
I know I can't.

Meta Knight: Catch some one in mid-air, they're practically done for. I've caught three people in it at once. "Know my power!" *slash* *star KO screams*

Pit: Yes, seriously. Palutena's Army can be devastating in a four person match. And if your opponent has over 100% damage, it's a near KO. Although I do have to say, Pit's voice does not match his angelic nature when executing this move.

I've also lost respect for the Landmaster after playing SSBB today.

Just a question. Now don't call me crazy I have seen the unlockable characters, but I noticed Mewtwo being possbile for the rewards. does anyone know how to unlock him???

I'm almost certain Mewtwo is not in Brawl. Lucario replaces him, so he would be a clone/Lucario a clone of Mewtwo. Just as Pichu is not in the game, nor Dr. Mario. All clones. And the Brawl team was working on keeping things fresh and having unique characters.

Who or what told you that Mewtwo is unlockable? I am sure Lucario was suppose to take his place, though if you think about it they are pretty different from each other. I guess it would be nice to see him on Brawl, but I don't think he is unlockable, knowing what I currently know that is.

Mewtwo isn't unlockable. No question about it; the full roster was revealed quite a while back and the game's pretty much out and being sold by now.

As for what SSBB is, it's pretty much Nintendo saying, "Our games rule so much that if we made another part to our ultimate fighting game with characters from a bunch of them, everyone would buy it and it would be the most exciting game in all history, just like its predecessors!"

So, buy it, pretty much. If you don't, I'll... I'll... infest your bed with Pichus! Yeah!
