Now that is embarrassing. What bothers me is that Spewpa has about 20 forms that determine what form Vivillon will have. 20 forms on a pokemon like this.

I knew Vivillon had many forms, but I didn't know this was also true for Spewpa.

Upon further research I realize I was wrong. Internally Spewpa and Scatterbug have 20 forms, as in, data for one of 20 forms predetermined. So that way a Vivillon's form data is already chosen by the time you obtain a Scatterbug egg. However, even if the parents have the same form the one you get will correspond to your regional location.

That doesn't make collecting so many Spewpa worth it, if you ask me. In that case, you're better off looking for wild Vivillon.

I have somehow failed to mention that Spewpa is just Scatterbug's head attached to a cocoon. All cocoon mons do not even go down to that level of unoriginality.

Vivillon is meh. Pretty yes, and it has 20 forms. However, it is no stronger than Beautifly and Butterfree.

Likes its various wing patterns. Helps to live in the region with the Polar Pattern. Considers that one of the better designs.

Is it strong? No. Shares a lot of similarities with Butterfree. Pulls off the Compound Eyes + Sleep Powder trick better (thanks to better Speed). Learns a special-based Bug move much sooner too (Struggle Bug from move relearning versus Butterfree's Bug Buzz at 32). Really struggles with a base stat total of 411, however.

My main complaint for Vivillon stems from being the only bug type in its entire generation. We could've had more. And later gens treat it like fillermon.

Vivillon had something going for it with being a cheeky status user. It has moves like powder and compound eyes for an ability, but that speed stat hinders it. Base 89 is too low by gen 6 standards.

Vivillon's shiny is disappointing. Only changes the color of Vivillon's body from grey to white, and it is not very visible. It's over Bug Bros... we stay losing yet again.
