Decidueye's Ultimate Gallade Solo Run - Black 2 (5/8 Badges)

Stuff happened:

- Ohkay, its go time. I'm ddrox, Hugh has been renamed to Barry, At the will of my favorite d6, I selected NOTMANTINE the Oshawott as my starter (because it's going to learn surf but it isn't Mantine Surf).
- Saved and PkHex'd in Inigo the Ralts. As usual, he's Adamant 6IV, and this time I decided to give him the egg move Shadow Sneak because Purrloin can burn in hell.
- Barry's Snivy was eventually beaten. Took a while. But it happened.

- So apparently everything and its mom has a Dark move in the Black 2 Early game, including both of Cheren's Pokemon. Sigh.
- After grinding to level 15, I challenged Cheren
- VS Cheren: A lot of Double Teams and 30 or so resets, but I did eventually cheese Cheren. Badge get!
- Route 20 exists. Next!
- After getting mauled by the first trainer in the Virbank Complex, I decide to skip the entire area and just murder Audino in Virbank proper.
- I hit level 20 and Inigo evolves into Kirlia!
- VS Roxie: Level 20 evolved Psychic-type vs LV16 and Lv18 Poison types. Riiiiight. This took a whole 3 turns (both of her Pokemon had Dark moves too btw). Badge Get!
- Plasbad
- Castelia City is a nice place. It has some sewers with more plasbad and also a Twistedspoon.
- It also has a nice park with more harmless pink EXP-stuffed fluffballs to brutally genocide.
- VS Bugsy or whatever his name is (burgh) - Double Team still exists. Badge Get!
- Colress is rude. He also has Steel-types.
- Arrived in Nimbasa, the city of... uhhh... Ferris wheels?
- Beat up Ingo and Emmit
- WHEEEEE ROLLER COASTERSSSSSSSSS
- I forgot Elesa's gym trainers were all named after scientists. Smart.
- VS Elesa: Trace Ability was clutch here, as copying Emolga's Static paralysed both said Emolga and Zebstrika after they tried to Pursuit me (OH LOOK, MORE DARK MOVES). Anyway, got to +4+4 with Calm Mind and started one-shotting stuff. Badge Get!
- As the Dawn Stone isn't to my knowledge available early in this game, I invoke the 4-Badge Clause to once more evolve Inigo, this time into Gallade and promptly forget Calm Mind in favor of Return because he already capped Friendship and now has a 107 Attack stat (Evolving into Gallade doesn't affect SpAtk at all).
- Plasbad
- Heartbreaker Charles is forcing me to have 3 mons to progress because he wants to impress a girl with a Rotation Battle. So, I catch INEED3TOGO the Trubbish and re-add NOTMANTINE to the party, only to beat him with just Inigo. NOTMANTINE got 9 levels out of it though.
- Anyway, Driftveil. Can't go to the PWT to get Leaf Blade or Brick Break yet, so I teach Inigo Ice Punch with the tutor and collect N's Zorua, then Gym Time
- VS Clay: I literally never even left the gym to heal after beating the trainers. Ice Punch is OP. Badge Get!
- ARGHHH THE PWT REQUIRES 3 POKEMON TOO????? NOTMANTINE and N's Zorua "help" Inigo Ice Punch and Return his way through the Driftveil Tournament (everything being 10 levels below him helped too). Barry took 2 Ice Punches and a Return, Cheren took 3 Returns, and Colress was still annoying as ever because until I get Brick Break, Steel resists my full movepool.
- I'M ON A BOAT, I'M ON A BOAT, EVERYBODY LOOK AT ME CAUSE IM TAKING OVER A BOAT (translation: the First Siege of the Plasma Frigate happens). Seriously plasbad, get something other than Poison types if you want to survive more than 1 turn per pokemon. Also someone finally decides to learn Psycho Cut, so all my moves are Physical now.
- Anyway, I need to farm the PWT for TM Brick Break.

The Lucky Egg is a broken item.

Ice Punch was my savior in the E4, though the last-minute decision to switch to Night Slash (replaced Leaf Blade, which replaced Shadow Snek before the 8th Gym and kinda tore apart everything between then and the E4) was clutch for Chauntal and Caitlin.

Tropius. One of the many Hoenn Pokemon that tends to get lost in all discussions about the region. It remains the only fully evolved Grass/Flying Pokémon at night (when Shaymin can't maintain its Sky Forme). However, its inability to evolve coupled with its 460 BST (including an incredibly mediocre 51 base speed) and usual late appearances in games have left it a bit underwhelming.

I've used a Tropius once before, in my Emerald Monograss. Its actually half-decent movepool saved me a ton of pain and suffering at various points of the game. Earthquake (and, in AS, Bulldoze) should ease the pain of Fire-types. Skarmory will, as usual, be the bane of my existence.

Anyway, for this run, Cordelia will be Naive, with the maximum IVs that allow Hidden Power Ice. She will also have a pair of egg moves - Leech Seed (which surprisingly isn't on her level-up kit) and Dragon Dance. She will not know Leaf Storm at level 0 as her kit allows, because that's just broken.

I'm ddrox, and Fate (my d6) has determined my starter should be Mudkip. I named him Memefish. Right now, I'm using PkHex to add Cordelia to the game.

Nice. I'm running a Tropius run as well. Alpha Sapphire too! I stopped right before the 3rd gym (due to not being able to pull photos off my phone), but I was looking to start it up again. I bred my Tropius and it has HP: Steel which comes in handy.

I took a hiatus from this challenge due to not knowing how how to pull photos off of my phone, but figured out my Google Drive so now I am continuing!

Shockingly over-leveled: I started Wattson's gym at level 25 on Banananator, so I had zero issues with the trainers up until Wattson (having purchased the Bulldoze TM with my meager funds). Once I got to Wattson, it would have been an easy sweep again if it hadn't been for Magnemite getting paralyze hacks on me! It kept using Volt Switch, along with Voltorb, and even though I harvested an Oran Berry once, I kept having to use (I think two, total) potions in order to keep my health above crit level. Magneton ate a Bulldoze and wasn't really in the fight after the switch wars. Eventually I got a Bulldoze on the two Pokemon using Volt Switch, and earned the badge.

Preparing for the fall(s): I played into the game some more and I'm currently saved at Meteor Falls. I believe Banananator is LVL 34-35 now, and dangerously close to going past the level cap that the Dynamo Badge gives me (level 40 Pokemon will obey). It's the beginning of my game all over again if he won't obey me lol

- Got the Exp Share. No harm in leaving it on I suppose, this is a solo after all. (spoilers: this makes Yawnzagoon actually a decent help later)
- Roxxane gets Razor Leaf'd
- Brawly gets Gust'd
- Team Aqua gets bodied in the museum
- Brendan is actually a hard fight now, but its ok because I still have way better stats at this point.
- The game was nice enough to give me TM Bulldoze before the Electric Gym.
- Team Aqua gets bodied at the crater thing
- Team Aqua gets bodied at the volcano
- Archy's Sharknado knows Ice Fang. Bully. A quick reset lets me actually Dragon Dance this time so I outspeed.
- Yawnzagoon evolves. Just throwing that out there.
- Honestly I'm so over-levelled that Fire-types don't really bother me if I have enough Potions (which I did thanks to Yawnzagoon's Pickup)
- Flannery gets Bulldoze'd
- Norman gets Dragon Danced on.
- Yawnzagoon learns Covet and mugs some Pellipper until I get a Lucky Egg
- From here the game is easy.
- Get handed a Latias. Hey, new Surf/Fly slave!
- Winona gets HP Ice'd
- Aqua shenanigans
- Oh dear. I forgot this is a mandatory double battle. AT LEAST I HAVE MY BFF YAWNZAGOON!!!!!
- Yawnzagoon outsped and used Tail Whip while Cordelia used DD, then a good Razor Leaf to the face earned me the Mind Badge.
- Caught SANIC the Sharpedo because 7.8/10 too much water
- EVERYBODY'S SUPER SANIC SURFING WHEEEEEEEEEE
- TM26 contains Earthquake.

- Skarmory is set up bait, and Aggron missed Stone Edge. Everything else got +6 Earthquaked (Claydol got Razord instead).

Really, there came a point in the game where nothing except Ice moves hit me for any meaningful damage, so Dragon Dance became a thing and then profit. Really fun run overall.

Big shoutout to Yawnzagoon the Linoone tho. Pickup gave me free stuff, Tail Whip helped a bunch in Double Battles, and 3 HMs for usefulness. Saved the run more than once. By the end of this mess he was easily on-level with the normal trainers just from EXP Share experience.

So because I love Skitty/Delcatty enough to suffer a bit I started a solo run on Alpha Sapphire. No pics right now bc I'm too lazy to pick up my phone and take pics but current details:

- Spent some time getting a Skitty with a good egg move for the run. Decided on Skitty with Zen Headbutt.
- I've beaten up to Wattson so far. Wattson was hilariously the hardest gym out of the three. Because of Zen Headbutt Brawley was a piece of cake and Roxanne was a walk over too.

Lorelei took about three Hypers or so.
Bruno took one thanks to his Hitmonlee holding on by a few HP and launching a Hi Jump Kick.
Agatha took four Hypers, two Full Heals, and a Max Ether on Super Fang. :\ She kept spamming Super Potions.
Lance took two Hypers. Surprisingly, he was easier than Agatha. Used an Elixir afterwards.
Rival was a close call with Blizzard, but Raticate survived by 16 HP and Bolted for the win.

Brock
I started off by breeding my Gengar with a freshly caught Muk in Leaf Green, and then trading the newly hatched Grimer with Shadow Punch and Giga Drain to Fire Red. It was a nice surprise seeing that she knew Giga Drain, because I didn't know that TMs are transferred in breeding. I named her Veneno, which means Poison in Portuguese.
Leveling her up was a breeze due to the exp bonus from the trade, but I completely forgot that she could desobey my commands if I didn't have enough badges. Oh well.
The battle against Brock was easy, since Giga Drain OHKOes both of his Pokémon. When Veneno decides to use Giga Drain, that is.

Misty
I tried to avoid all the trainers that I could in Mt. Moon and was doing fine until the last trainer. I had to face the scientist just before the fossils with 3 HP and no potions left. I ended up losing to his last pokémon and had to go through the cave again, but with only one trainer fight at the bright side.
I learned from my mistakes and bought a bunch of Super Potions before facing Misty. It took a few tries, including one that Starmie used Water Pulse, landing a critical hit and confused Veneno, who hurt herself in her confusion, meaning instant loss to one attack, but I managed to defeat her. After obtaining her badge, Veneno began to obey me again until she hit LV 31.

Lt. Surge
I went to Bill, got the S.S. Anne ticket, got the TM for Dig, taught it to Veneno and then borded the ship, battling no one except my rival inside. I taught cut to Cut, my Oddish (pretty creative name, right?), and went to challenge Lt. Surge. Sadly, after his Voltorb I went to lvl. 31, meaning that Veneno won't always obey me anymore (I wonder why Nintendo gives you the exp boost If you can't use the Pokémon properly anyway), but I won the battle with 3 digs and 1 Shadow punch.

Erika
After getting through the Rock Tunnel with no Flash, I went straight to Celadon City. After buying some recovery items, I went to the gym and Veneno evolved to Muk after beating the trainer just before Erika. The battle against her was ok, besides the infinte paralisys. With her badge, I can use Veneno normally until lvl. 50, which is a relief.
I defeated Giovanni in the Rocket Hideout in Celadon and then kicked the Rockets out of the Pokémon Tower.

Sabrina
I forgot to say it, but I teached Brick Break to Veneno the second after she evolved. I went to Silph Co. and defeated Giovanni once again, learning Sludge Bomb in the process.
I then went to Sabrina's gym. The battle wasn't too dificult, since the only Pokémon of hers that actually attacked me was Venomoth using Psybeam, but, despite being super effective, it only hit for 22 damage. I won, and now Veneno will obey me until lvl 70 (Maybe that's enough to beat the last gym).

Koga
When I arrived at Fuchsia City, I went to the Safari Zone and got HMs Surf and Strenght first and then went to battle Koga. The battle wasn't very hard despite not having super effective moves (Well, I used dig against Muk, but all of his other Pokémon have levitate). I won, teached Surf and Strenght to my Lapras, and flew to Pallet Town.

Blaine
I got to Pallet Town, surfed to Cinnabar Island and went to the Pokémon Mansion. After a while, I got the Secret Key and went to the gym. I awnsered all the super hard questions[/sarcasm] and went to battle Blaine. The battle was easy, since I could just use dig until I won.

Giovanni
After flying to Viridian City, I went straight to the gym. Battled every trainer this time, because I was only lv. 60 (I was kinda worried about getting past lv. 70), leveled up a little, and then I went to Giovanni. The battle wasn't very hard, I only had to use 1 Hyper Potion after getting to 19 HP and couldn't use Dig because Earthquake does double the damage if you use it, but I managed to win.
I saved the game.

I was working on playing through all the games I could with Chikorita family of Pokemon. Got through FireRed, Emerald, and SoulSilver in the past. I had also planned to do Platinum and Black 2, but that never happened thanks to life being stupid. Until now.

I got that Pokemon itch again and was reminded of these PC Challenges thanks to a certain birthday email. I did manage to acquire a used 3DS on the cheap but no Gen VI-VII Pokemon games yet. Later this year, I'll hopefully pick up X/Y and US/UM to finish Ultimate Solo at long last.

I'm disappointed that it has been so long, I lost track of where I was keeping my old .sav files containing the champion Meganiums from FR, E, and SS. I was planning on keeping all my Gen III-V challenge Pokemon (apparently also shinies) stored in a box for posterity.
