This is quite the random thought for a new forum, honestly. I really don't see how it'd prove lucrative. Care to tell me how this forum is needed on PC?

If this had anything to do with "needs" PC wouldn't exist at all. This forum is here because it's wanted here. It's another fun and creative pastime for people to participate in. If you really need a more specific definition of the positives of this section, look at it this way: this forum acts as a bridge between several different sections of the community - in particular the creative forums. It is not only a place for us to showcase our creativity and ideas and a potential resource for the other creative forums, it is also a place where we can get to know PCers who we wouldn't ordinarily interact with much without this section as a focal point.

Basically, it's just a fun creative section that has the added perk of bringing the community closer together.

Why are you asking this question? In the same way, care to tell me how <insert any other forum here that isn't about Pokemon> is needed on PC? I mean, come on now.

Yeah, so needs are things that facilitate relevancy in people's actions. So yeah, whether the forum needs it is, like it or not, relevant. I find it superfluous to be honest.

That sounds exactly like what the Creative Discussions forum already does, lol. Unless you're okay with this forum being utterly irrlevant and would like to admit that, please tell me how it's needed and therefore relevant to your "community."

Care to explain how Pokémon is relevant here at all? I mean, come on now.

    Moved this over to CF&S.

Care to tell me how this forum is needed on PC?

The World of PokéCommunity works as a new way to introduce your own creative endeavors to the community - whether you're an artist, a game developer, a fan fiction writer, or just feel like putting forward a region of your own design.

Its a chance to get involved as a community (hence our World map and World events coming up soon) and get to know one another.

On the cynical end it also works as advertisement for your media, but I think thats actually kind of nice. I mean, you'd be more likely to join a roleplay if you already knew all about the region, right?

It's a very good idea for a forum. It encourages creativity and is something much different that we haven't had here. Is it "needed" though? no. Is the Treehouse "needed"? no. Is ROM hacking "needed"? no. No specific forum is "needed" but there is no reason not to have something like this if it is something our users clearly enjoy and make use of. If you don't like it as a forum no one is forcing you to post there or even visit that section.

Honestly my initial thought was it'd make more sense if it was a GT theme in the future, like survivor and Olympics. That's just the feel I get from it so running it all year round seems out of place because it seems more like an event thing rather than a permanent thing.

However! PC has changed a lot since back in my active days (two years ago), where unorthodox things are given spotlight at the forefront of the community like AMAs, underground etc, so it does fit in with what the PC of now represents, compared to the PC of the past which was more srs business. So while I'm still in the past, therefore it seems out of place to me, it actually suits what PC has been working towards for the last few years.

I will say that the main reason it'd be better as a temp thing is because I can't help but feel people are going to lose interest in it but hey if mafia is still super popular anything is possible.

Um, well, first, I'm really sorry that you and (somewhat) Nica feel this way, and I hope that you don't think we're bandwagoning on this but I do want to make a point here:

I just hope you guys will give this a proper chance.

Yes, it's not really a board we might of considered years ago, but as said, PC is an ever evolving forum where we try new things and meet new people. I've spent about 8+ hours trying to put this altogether, because when it was initially introduced/proposed, I really thought that it'll be a great idea trying to get the community together, and I still do! We're just trying to get the feel of everything.

But I do understand your concerns. I was kinda skeptic myself at first even, but after so much work as been done for it, you know, just give it a chance and maybe weeks down the road, you'll change your mind about it! Which Mana and I do plan to work hard for the board. So yeah, I hope you guys will understand. (:

I personally think that this forum is a great idea, since it kinda has everything from roleplaying, to fanfic writing, to art design, heck even ROM hacking if you're stretching it, Sure, it may not be important but so does every forum here in PC, or even PC in general. Like I don't understand why are you asking how is it needed in PC, it doesnt have to be really.

And tbf, I'd try to be a little bit nice because Shawn, Mana, Ozzy, and the others worked hard on it, trying to set the place up and seeing that question kinda irks me a bit. :(

If you want to read what it's about there are several threads and announcements about how to figure that much out(1)(2)(3). It literally takes up ~100px of vertical space in a collapsible forum. If it doesn't succeed I see no reason as to why the attempt at creating something new and innovative affects you at all. Just because something does not directly apply to you does not mean that you should meet it with a closed mind.

This is quite the random thought for a new forum, honestly. I really don't see how it'd prove lucrative. Care to tell me how this forum is needed on PC?

It being lucrative or not on a forum designed for fun is very subjective. This forum is not needed on PC, just like every other forum here on PC. No forum is needed, and if it was obligatory that a forum be deemed necessary to be added, we'd never gain any new forums. But for a forum to be lucrative really depends on your point of view. What do you want to gain out of the forum? If fun and enjoyment isn't what you want, then this forum isn't going to bring you anything, and neither likely should you be on PC, since that's what it's here for. But for those who worked hard to create it and for those who will gain hours of enjoyment out of it submersing themselves in their own little world it will be very lucrative. For the staff it bridges a gap between the Creative Discussions and brings people together who without it probably wouldn't talk or engage much together.

Perhaps you'd do better to actually think about supplying some useful feedback, as opposed to just being rude about something that has been worked very hard on.

Yeah. I think the answer's been given thoroughly (though frankly why it needed an answer is beyond me). We've seen what one successful idea and forum can be (the Underground) and we are 100% open to trying new, fresh, and innovative ideas.

With the overwhelming success of the Underground, the real question is why wouldn't we need this?

All members are very welcome to submit new forum ideas and the staff will absolutely be willing to check them out. This is your community after all. :)
