True enough. But it seems . . . perfunctory and traditional to name the President of the United States as Person of the Year. I can't recall when that wasn't the case, really.

The year they gave it to Hitler :P

Honestly, the TIME person of the year is a stupid mess most of the time anyway, it's no worse that Trump got this then when Obama inexplicably was awarded the noble peace prize. Just the rich looking after the rich as always

Pssh, oh you. I meant in terms of election years. Time magazine seems to have on and off years. I haven't really seen them take as much a hit against their credibility like a lot of other papers did this year.

"Person of the Year"? More like, "Reason to Drink Beer"!

The Trumpinator has been vocal of his disdain on this award. And this award is barely an award; it feels more like a poster-baby click-bait for magazines who try to catch the eye with a fancy cover. At least Obama got something better. Not sure he did anything to get it, but better than this.

  • "G-guys, He's literally Hitler"
    LoL!!!
Considering the fact that the media has attacked him relentlessly and the useful fools that gobble the Bull excrement from the left and their crony's (Buzzfeed, Vox, Snopes etc) and the right is concerned with a political outsider . It little wonder that the whole western world is talking about him and thus why he's person of the year.

The media hasn't attacked him as much as just... reported on the things he's done? I mean, right there in "the left and their conys" (sic) you've listed a fact checking website, which is a pretty sad thing to see.

When you're pretending a fact checker has bias, and attacking the media for reporting on a bad person & the bad things they do... what kind of world are we living in? What kind of media do you want, one that just... lies, or ignores people lying or the bad things people do?

Attacked him relentlessly? Not really. They've pushed a baseless accusation against Mr Putin, they've seldom mentioned Trump outside of ripping on his hilariously crass and cringey twtitter fits over reviews of his eatery and over Mike Pence needing a safe space. Why are the right so God damn fragile that whenever a media outlet says something they don't like they burst into angry e-tears about it?

As for "the whole western world" please get your head out of Ms Liberty's metaphorical butt. We're barely bothered about Trump. We're mostly talking about Brexit, because that is actually something that matters. Trump is someone who comes up when we need to make ourselves feel better about our economic and social suicide by laughing at yours.

Maybe attack is too strong of word for you but that is what it looks like when they only go after people on one side of the isle like that have and ignore the crap that is just as bad coming from the other side. and aliencommander if you look at snopes they have abandoned fact checking over the past few years and have fallen to ideological narrow-mindedness. Brexit is something that we are or were watching due to it's perceived impact on world markets, thus far all we've seen is the predictions of doomsayers fall laughably short and a small group cry for a recount that will never come and stupid leadership get traded for equally stupid leadership i.e. business as usual.

You do realise we knocked 30 years of economic progress off of the Pound in under 10 hours right? We haven't even left Europe yet, so we won't see the real shitshow until late 2017/2018. You seem to know absolutely nothing of matters outside of the US and it's probably best you avoid addressing them.

Trump wasn't attacked and you're being thin skinned if you feel he was.

This is being attacked, what the MSM has done to the British Socialist Jeremy Corbyn, where, in some of the nation's biggest papers, only 20% of stories were true or close to true. They attack his clothes, his choice in music, how he wears his tie etc. They claim the model of bike he rides makes him a communist, they make up quotes he never said. None of that happened to Trump. Whilst the MSM arguably gave Hillary a lot of free passes, they only ever really reported on things Trump actually done or said.

Uh, all they do is report news objectively and fact check things, just because you feel like their fact checking is too "liberal" doesn't change that they're checking facts? I'd like to know how you can say they don't check facts when they explicitly do so, as the main focus of their website

Huh? It had a very bad initial impact simply due to it's outcome, and since then big businesses have done nothing but move out of Britain as it's become clear that Brexit is occurring no matter what. What's become clear is that there's no good outcome of any kind of Brexit, as the things promised by leave are impossible & to have any kind of access to the free market (which britain financially needs in order to survive) they'll have to keep all the conditions of the EU migration, but with a worse deal than the one they've currently got everything else wise?

Regardless, this is all off topic

1st the markets from what I've seen rebounded in one week but I will concede that we need to see what the long term effects are.
2nd They did not go as far as attack his vehicles but they have attacked his hair, his eating style, and his clothes and deliberately misquoted him on numerous occasions. I give Corbyn the victim silver metal and Sanders the Gold (He got submarined) and Trump the Bronze. I will however say that all of the above have said or done stupid stuff within the past year. Certainly Trump has made me cringe but so has the others.

If you haven't figured this out already, I enjoy the bickering back and forth as I am constantly board and love observing human psychology. Trump arguments have been a re-awakening of this fascination.

  • Can we please keep this topic focused on Trump's selection by TIME and anything surrounding that? If you keep going so widely off topic I'm going have to close this and I'd rather not be that guy who does nothing but close threads.
