Mafia? Is that a new kind of pizza or something?
Sorry to disappoint - but no, mafia is not a new kind of pizza. The world may have been a happy place before - full of laffter, fun and love... But kids just aren't into that anymore nowadays. Mafia is something much more grim...
For those of you who haven't played mafia before, the basic idea of these games is quite easy. The majority of players will be split into two teams, the uninformed majority (who are called the toons) and the informed minority (which are the filthy, oil-spitting cogs).
Mafia games are split into two distinct phases. During the night phase, this thread is to be considered "locked" and you shouldn't be posting here. In most circumstances posting here during the night phase will result in your untimely deletion. During this phase, the cogs members will talk privately amongst themselves to discuss strategy and determine a person to 'delete' or kill during the night. After a kill has been made, this thread will be made "open" again and the day phase will commence. During the day the innocents can talk within this thread and debate who to execute as punishment for the cogs killing. This isn't as easy as you might think however, as the mafia will be amongst you in secret trying to convince you to kill other innocents instead.
Some players will be lucky (or unlucky) enough to receive special abilities called night actions that they will be able to use to either help - or maybe hinder - their team. Night actions are very diverse and can range from anything to getting an extra kill, to investigating an alignment, protecting another player from death. All night actions should be private messaged to me during the night phase.
If you're still confused about how to play, you should check out the Newbie Snail's Guide and some of our competed games. Or just... not play, y'know. Nah, just kidding.
Rules?
I remember the days toontown used to be without any rules, a land of- oh, sorry, I'm getting carried away again, am I?
- All PokeCommunity Rules Apply
- You may vote only once during the day phase so think about who you target.
- Please use [Execute] PlayerName bolded as the format for your votes. Votes not in this format might not be counted.
- Missing two executions will result in you being branded as a traitor and lynched automatically.
- Unless you are a member of a faction with a chat, game-related conversation should be kept to day phases in this thread.
- If you are DEAD you are DEAD. Don't haunt the thread with your posts.
- However, if you die (regardless of how) you will be allowed one dead post so long as it contains no game-related information.
- For executions, if there is a tie, a coin-toss will determine the tie-breaking vote.
- Don't post during the night phase unless instructed that you can.
- Night actions should be sent to me via PM.
- Abstaining during the day phase is not allowed and voting for yourself will result in your suicide.
- Just, ah... don't make any fuss, okay?
Roles
The Toons

The toons are just regular old cartoons trying to survive, just like you and me. Although our numbers are thinning out these days...
Splasher - A paranoid intern of the Toontown fire department, trained in the use of squirt gags. If visited (not attacked), she has 50% chance of shooting her water gun, revealing the name of who visited her; if she is attacked, she has 50% chance of taking down her attacker with her with a devastating geyser.
Thrower - The Toontown Central baker. He owns three pies in the game. If used on a cog, the cog dies. If used on a toon or the doodle, the pie preserves them. The thrower may eat his own pie to preserve himself. If the Thrower dies before using all of his pies, the remaining pies will be randomly distributed to other players.
Tooner - A toon trained in the art of Toon-up and toon healing. She can preserve one person each night.
Lurer - A beautiful, high-definition and charismatic toon straight outta the Art Department. She is genius in the science of luring and convincing people into doing what she wants. Works in coordination with the Trapper. Lured targets are notified that they are lured. If the Trapper dies, the Lurer loses her power. She and the Trapper share a private chat.
Trapper - The lurer's faithful partner and husband. Though not as beautiful, he is just as smart in his field. Works in co-ordination with her. Traps only go in effect if the Lurer targets the same person as him. Traps may do many things, ranging from revealing roles to role-blocking. If the Lurer dies, the Trapper loses his power. He and the Lurer share a private chat.
Dropper - A mysterious toon which is often seen lurking in the shadows and dark alleys of the streets. He has a button. Trust me, you don't want him to press it.
Sounder - A smart-aleck inventor who creates weird and wacky inventions for defeating cogs. She can sound her horn three times in the game, stunning a person for the next day phase and preventing them from speaking.
Flippy - The leader of the toons. He possesses a large database of every toon ever drawn, and once per night may investigate a living toon, learning their alignment.
Trolley Conductor - The old conductor of the minigame trolley in Toontown Central. He simply minds his own business, taking whoever visits him and hops onto his trolley to the minigame area; consequently preventing them from using their night action the following night. Once in the game, or if the conductor dies before activating this, the conductor may activate the 'trolley tracks' event, initiating a special minigame which will get the winner a special prize.
Doodle - A stray pet which has no real alignment to any of the 2 factions. The Doodle has three jellybeans which he may eat to protect himself at night. The Doodle wins as long as he stays alive. The Doodle may also use a jellybean to escape a day lynch.
The Cogs

The cogs are a series of economic robots
Lawbot - The smartest of the cogs. He has memorised every Toontown law and criminal offense. With this knowledge, he can infiltrate the toon database every night to frame a toon and them look like a criminal and a cog.
Cashbot - The greediest of all the cogs. Can pickpocket a toon every night, taking away their night action and preventing it.
Sellbot - The mosy annoying and persistent of all the cogs. Can anonymously telephone someone every night, annoying them and constantly nagging them to buy a product they have chosen and consequently vote for a toon. This will go on to the day phase and the toon will be forced to vote for the designated toon, as well as talk about the product in every one of their posts. Failure to do so may have... unwanted results.
Bossbot - The classiest and most authoritarian of the cogs. Every night, the Bossbot will be invited to dinner by a person he has selected. While the Bossbot is having dinner with the person, any positive night actions that affect his target will also affect him (not the opposite though - if the Bossbot is the original target then his host will not be affected). If the Bossbot dies while having dinner, his host will perish as well. If the Bossbot's host dies while they are having dinner, there is a chance the Bossbot will steal their night action for a single night.
CEO - The leader of the cogs. He has the final say on who to kill at night, and is so convincing he will appear as an innocent when investigated by Flippy.
Wait, what?
Artist - The incarnation of the artist who first drew the toons. The artist is revealed to everyone on Day 3. He is protected on night zero, one and two. The artist will be the only person who knows a person's role and alignment when they die. He may hide or reveal it, or lie. The artist must pick a faction (toons or cogs) at the start of the game; if the artist chooses the cogs, he will not know who they are and will not participate in any discussion with them (and neither will the cogs know that he is one of them). If the artist chooses the cogs, upon his death all dead toons will be revealed. If the artist chooses the toons, all dead cogs will be revealed upon his death.
