Anime/Manga uguu?

I'm grateful that while my country is rather conservative (okay, rather is an understatement), they don't block much stuff online.

Speaking of yaoi and yuri, I'm crazy yet no so much crazy compared to half of the Internet over yaoi. Ren from DMMD is like my spirit animal *nosebleeds*

Free! is pretty much a fanservice anime with a lot of tension (skinny dippingswim races at night ;p).

Wow, did I just spawned a yaoi/yuri topic out of my talk about blocked manga sites? Damn.

But seriously guys, we should stop with the topic haha. We don't want to branch off too far into the dark side. :P

Of course. HanaKana may play a deciding role for anime-only watchers, that's for sure.
And she's moe, she's obviously perfect waifu material :P
Flat characters... in your definition, you mean flat character-wise or boob-wise?
By flat I mean bland, so character-wise. Characters with little personality and identity, basically.

I have nothing against flat-chested characters- though on that note, I am big on breast variety in anime, and I have a big problem with anime that generally only have a binary of "flat as a wall" or "larger than a small child". Ecchi and harem anime do this in spades (though they're not the only ones, far from it- this is addressed to all anime, because it's everywhere), thinking that they've appealed to all of the demographics, while generally this just leads to dumb-looking characters (for a good example of one that can drive people away from an otherwise pretty good story, see Tenjou Tenge. Or, if you take out the pretty good story, Senran Kagura, which is a prime example).

Breasts and breast size does a lot more for a character design than a lot of artists seem to take into account, and this whole "bigger is better" mindset (which, with anime, is taken up to eleven because it can be) is kind of annoying, especially because there are plenty of times I can think of where character designs were almost good, but then the breasts happened. And it's not like I have anything against sexual framing or hooks to get people interested, but there are other ways to appeal to the audience's loins. Breast size (and shape) variety is just as important as the other parts of the characters' designs, and ultimately it just makes cast designs more interesting.

I just went through Endless Eight of Haruhi... NEVER AGAIN! What was on the director's mind when he made the storyboards? God, I felt like I just wasted a good portion of my life watching a repeat of the same scenarios over and over again.

I'm really not that strict, and I'll stop it if it gets too far, haha. As long as you're not discussing male or female appendages, your opinions on sex scenes themselves, or anything else on the topic in a crude manner, I really don't care. It's all related, and honestly, boycotting discussion of certain genres that don't necessarily contain hentai is dumb, imo. As long as it's just yaoi and yuri as genres, though -w-!

I only watched The Melancholy, never got to the rest of the series ;(

I haven't watched anything Haruhi yet, but the Endless Eight is so famous that pretty much any anime fan knows it lol.

But is it really like the same thing with just maybe different clothes and also does it somehow tie into the story or was it completely unneeded?

Best way to watch the Endless Eight:

Open up all eight episodes at once and sync them all up. That way, you end up saving yourself several hours of watching the same thing by watching the same thing in about 24 minutes.

Or, if you actually care about what's going on, open four of the episodes and then, once they're done, another four.

More realistically, though, two at a time would work, and you'd still be saving a lot of time (and possibly frustration).

Wow, you should make a video of that. 4/8 synched endless 8.

I remember just following a rec and watching the first 2 and last one lol.

I have been power watching winter anime but a lot of them are just so incredibly average I can't watch more than two episodes at once @_@ somebody go post in the winter discussion thread so I can post again

I've so, so behind aha I still only have 4 episodes from Tokyo Ghoul 2 watched..

You must catch up! You're missing out on the feels! That being said, I'm behind 2 episodes on the second season, only because my boyfriend and I enjoy watching series together so we hoard them until I visit then we marathon everything over the weekend.

Maybe aside from maybe the last two episodes (which were better than the last), Tokyo Ghoul √A isn't doing so great in my books. (This is also coming from me never having read the manga prior/ have no plans to in the future).
Sure season 1 was pretty hyped up and all, but for me, season 2 is failing heavily in terms of meaningful character development and story. Enjoyment-wise it's hitting me pretty badly as I'm still watching this for the sake of completing/ not leaving it unfinished.

Your wish is my command! :p

Got to agree with this. I loved the first season of Tokyo Ghoul. I binge-watched it after the last ep came out and it was awesome. Granted, I haven't read the whole manga, but I knew the gist of it. Now the second season, when I heard that it was a kind of original story, I was okay with that. Then, like 3 episodes in, I didn't understand what was going on. There were so many things happening at once, and I was expecting something great to happen, but nothing.
Aside from the OP and ED, I didn't enjoy it.
That aside, I do enjoy the manga sequel.

Realistically speaking, I think they will eventually become a prized collection someday and you will buy more books in due to time so you'll never ever finish that backlog :P

I mean, these are books I've bought just since January and spent most of February and March not bothering to read them, and instead just buying more. And I keep buying books despite my reading pace not really outpacing my purchasing at the moment... I've read through 5 in the past 4 days, but I've got another 14 ordered that are either on their way or that will arrive the day they release. If I do catch up, it won't be anytime soon, since there are already about 50 I haven't read in the picture (which is about 12% of my collection).

Well they said it would be an anime original, but it's not. I guess they wanted to win the mad manga readers back by saying that they won't continue to butcher the adaptation. The main story is pretty much the same, just with way less explanations and way less sense lol. I actually had a lot of interest as a manga reader to watch it, due to it being an original. But it's sadly almost the same.

Also those last two :re chapters have been amazing.

Though Senran does satisfy both demographics because you have Mirai and Ryoubi.
And Mirai obviously top 3.

Imo DFCs take over in recent anime ;) You don't find that high percentage of boobed girls in recent anime.

Yuri? Where? Can I see where this discussion was about something else than yaoi? xD

And again, someone who marathoned it and will never understand the pain of watching it ongoing. =D

Original works of anime that has a base are simply stupid... you will never please anyone that way.

That aside, I do enjoy the manga sequel.

It still has Kaneki in Aogiri... that isn't in manga... it does incline more to original work.

Well that was the main selling point for a lot of people. They could have done it differently, yet they did most of the things that happened in the manga. While saying it's an anime original. When someone says anime original, they expect it to differ a lot from the original work.

And again, someone who marathoned it and will never understand the pain of watching it ongoing. =D

I can honestly feel the pain of anyone who watched it ongoing. God, that was tiring. Watching the same scenes over and over again with only minor differences in the scripts and animation. Pretty sure anyone who watched Endless Eight has the order of events they've been through memorized lol.
