User feedback and questions.

maybe it's to avoid confusion idk

I don't think members are able to change the titles of their threads anywhere on the forum, haha. If it really needs changing for whatever reason then just PM me or one of the other two smods running this place right now (Patchisou Yutohru, TwilightBlade) and we'll probably sort it out.

This forum seems pretty nice so far. I don't quite understand why, but it's fun. My only real issue is that I can't ever remember where I asked questions. But a quick search seems to solve that issue.

I've changed the titles of threads I've made before but I'm sure it was 5 minutes after I made like droomph said.

I guess it's different for these threads.

Just wondering how the reviving/locking rule will fare? If someone like..decides they want to close their thread because of whatever reason or they are taking a LOA will it just be kept open and die? Maybe something to think about. It is interesting so far.

Also if this takes off..maybe where the about me is on the profile you can put a section (youknowlike.. fav pokemon, friendcode, etc) for a link to your asking-question thread maybe?

That sounds like a really good idea to make it much easier to find a particular member. As nice as it is to have a list of everyone in a single thread, if you're new to the forums or just don't visit outside of a few areas and don't know we have this forum (if it stays) might find it through someone's profile since profiles would probably still be the first place you'd go if there was a particular member you wanted to talk to. (As opposed to this forum which feels more like a get-to-know-random-people kind of thing.)

No matter what the forum, if a member wants their thread locked for any reason, we will lock them, usually under the reason of "at the owner's request" and it's no big deal at all. If they go on LOA and the thread is still open and they didn't ask for it to be locked, I don't think it's a big deal if the thread stays open. People will probably figure out that they're away for a bit or quit caring about their thread and if they do come back, they can bump it and answer the questions they missed. That make any sense? It's midnight here and I'm known to get weird.

I definitely agree with the second part! That'd be very convenient.

I third having a section in your about me /profile just for your MIC thread. It would be convenient for lesser known members who aren't as active as most others or just any user actually. You can still have a index here , but just for times when you're not browsing this section or visiting a person's profile and just happen to see that thread in their About Me.

I'm thinking about making it a requirement to name your thread your username, just because its so much easier to navigate. What do you guys think?

In my opinion, I would much prefer threads to only be locked at the owners request. I don't want to close threads just because someone is taking a LoA. Ideally, I would be okay with locking them at the request of the thread owner, and I would be okay with a thread owner reviving their thread at any point after the thread revival period. I'm not sure when the cutout date would be, but I'd also like to say that I'm okay with thread owners also bumping their own topics after X amount of time. That was actually why I originally came to this thread, to mention that.

What would you guys say to allowing a thread creator to bump their thread after a certain period of time if nobody replied to their thread?

I had thought about requesting an admin to add a field for your MIC thread. I'm all for it.

But it seems like people are doing fine without them named that. I mean, mine is kind of named after myself, but it would look a bit bland to just see threads with that person's username. I like having a neat name that kind of describes you, but isn't just directing your name. Like vaporeon7's is "Totally a Vaporeon" which I think is straightforward and not...boring. It's unique to him, and still kind of describes him in the thread title. Some others ones are a bit odd. So perhaps a thread title that's relevant to your username, but not exactly your username. I think that would be a good compromise.

I am fine with this. Maybe say...a month?

To me, it just seems a bit pointless to make your title your username. I mean, for navigational purposes that's fine but if someone if trying to find your thread then they can just ctrl+f your username and find it that way. The only other scenario I can think of is that they don't know what they're looking for, but then they can look around in the threads anyway! Find out about the members! Yeah!

Besides, what if you had a terrible username???????

The time thing would seriously need to be defined.
I would personally prefer the title being the name thing (Ask Kura anything!).. I dunno.. seems neater to me, but I know people like their own titles.
Maybe we can say people are encouraged to use their username as their title, but don't have to?

Just worried when loads of people start wanting to make threads (not just supporter members) in the main section.

Also are people allowed to set what sort of things you're -not- allowed to ask them in the first post? For example.. I'd prefer to not be asked about my work because.. well.. my contract says I can't say much, especially obviously about things that are unannounced. Just makes me wary.

To be honest, I didn't realize how big I was on my privacy until I had the option here to post a thread. I am open about the things I choose to be open about and not sure how I'd fair otherwise. I figure I might as well give it a shot since I said to you that I wanted to try my own version of this in Other Games/ ChitChat and Polls area.. and it'd be unfair to you not to try a thread so I could see for myself which one I found more fun. This is surprisingly organized (especially people's first posts) so yay, but I think trying it out would still be good. What do you think I should do?

Yep. In the Using this forum. thread I made when the forum first premiered, I included "If there's anything you absolutely don't want to be asked, please include that in your thread." So when you submit your thread or even after, make sure you include that in your first post.

I think that we should be able to name our threads how we like. Part of the point of this forum is getting to know each other, and being able to name your thread is part of expressing your creativity. It's a quick statement to convey to others something about your personality before they even open the thread. And like Syd said, it would by so horribly dull to come here just to find a wall of usernames.

What about "Member Interrogation Center" for the forum's name? :D
