What are your favourite covers of video game music?

I follow a bunch of people for listening to covers during work, so I'm wanting to do some more sharing. Here's a couple I liked in particular I listened to last week.

Husky by the Geek does a lot of good tunes, including FFXIV stuff for those who play that.

Not checked them out too much but I've liked what I've heard so far. Some SV remixes the last year.

He's pretty well known so you've probably encountered him by now if you're looking for VG covers, but FamilyJules does some pretty great covers. One of my lasting favourites on his channel is that duet he did with Grant Kirkhope a few years ago:

The Noble Demon is also a really good channel for this I think, they do some amazing orchestral pieces of more popular tracks. The Face Shrine remix they uploaded the other day is quite chilling:

If you want something a little different, there's an amazing channel called Classical Entertainment System, which remixes famous classical pieces using video game soundfont. There's some pretty great stuff on here!

Listened to this cover of Touhou music (and the second one) from RichaadEB a number of times. Mentions Bad Apple (at the end) in particular.

Heard stuff by FamilyJules too. Goes with Butterfly from Dance Dance Revolution.

Typically gets anime covers from AmaLee. Performed Lost in Thoughts All Alone (from Fire Emblem Fates).

One last, slightly different one: Punch Out by SmoothMcGroove. Posts mainly covers of older games (Super Nintendo, Game Boy, N64, Gamecube).

For videogame music covers the only ones I'm familiar with are RichaadEB's tbh.

These two are in my playlists regularly:

I feel like I had one other person's covers in my playlists as well, but can't find it atm lol

Family Jules is pretty good indeed! That collab was a fun one too. And am also a fan of Noble Demon, he has some very good covers... more so their LoZ I feel they tend to knock it out of the park.

RichaadEB is another I follow. I liked his various Pizza Tower cover videos, fun to watch as well as listen to.

SmoothMcGroove is one of the classics, and hopefully they will keep sharing new stuff too given they returned recently!

I've certainly noticed a lot of Driftveil covers this year... it seemed to have gained popularity thanks to memes.

Here's a few more in an attempt to get more reccs! InstrumentManiac is an interesting one - he's been doing more VG covers of late, and interesting experimental ones (e.g. this 111 instruments in 111 seconds song). Here's a recent VGM cover one:

Sheet Music Boss is great - piano covers with the notes shown. Here's a Plants vs Zombies and a DK one, but they post very regularly with VG, film, regular songs old and new. Also memes (Rush E).

And Scruffy. I first followed him because of a cool Pikmin 2 playthrough (in first person), but he does videos exploring music/sound theory, and also some covers. This is a neat one for Driftveil (funny that) in PLA and futuristic style!

A last one: Mark Autumn, who did stuff years ago and is seemingly back again. This was a nice cover - the end part of the song kills.

Ah, GlitchCity, not heard them in a while.

Here's some more! A few TTYD remake ones, although I will spoiler the first one (final boss theme) - you've been warned! By Dethraxx.

Another one, of the title theme (if you stay on the screen for a while). Vector U has this specific style to their covers, and they like adding sound effect/character samples too.

A different Paper Mario tune - Super Paper Mario. Player2 this time, and I had to say this tune seemed to fit their style pretty well.

And for something different... a cool medley/mini-album of LoZ tunes, by a Raymusique. I've only followed them recently and they only had a few videos a year last few years, but they've done a fair bit here now! Orchestral remixes is their thing.

There are so many great VGM covers. One of my favourites is this RSE medley by Dr. Pez:

though I also love when people do sillier things with their covers like this Zelda 1 Game Over haircut cover by Sp0ntanius:

or this cover of Delightful Spekkio from Chrono Trigger by PPF with all the different instruments:

although if you squint hard enough, videos like these could be considered VGM covers as well, and I absolutely love them:

Some more to share from some weeks back!

Extended cover of a famous DK tune, with some neat drumming segments which you dont usually see!

Cello and Piano duet of Broken Promise which is a standout song in itself - neat version imo.

Acapella! This guy did a bunch last year I quite liked and seems to be doing more regular ones again too. Plus, it's Outrun.

And I'd be remise to not share this - a song as part of a free-to-listen-to Xenoblade Chronicles fan album. (See video description.) Large collab effort, and I quite liked when the brass kicked in.

Game Brass do a lot of good stuff, and they a month back did a cover of a Pokemon Colosseum track too.

    @_confused_piplup_ Here's a nice DP cover:

    Bump with some more!

StevenMix did a nice one for Poni Wilds, one of my favourite tunes in gen 7.

National Park from GSC is certainly a standout, and this was a well put together cover, and it's a collab!

BG Ollie is a more unique person I follow - he has some neat covers. Uses banjo (as per his extended username), but also a lot of varied instruments. Also: has a sponsor before the cover starts, but they're actually well done/amusing ads. "This video is sponsored.", indeed.

Dr Pez put out a video again recently! He's done some great medleys in the past. This one is just one song, but it's a banger.

Ferdk put out a great medley of Silent Hill 2 - starts and ends strong.

And lastly, The Limit Breakers who made this cool cover of a Nights theme.

Bump. Share your own recs please!

Here's a LoZ Tears of the KIngdom fan orchestra, 24 minutes worth:

A nice cover of one of my favourite and IMO underrated tunes from GSC: Viridian Forest. Part of a pair of fan albums actually.

A cool electone organ cover of the old Pokemon TCG's Normal Battle theme - they rebuilt the instrument!

Speaking of built instruments, this was a flex... they made a Zither (a stringed instrument) out of Lego.
