HeartGold man, I love that game! It was the first Pokemon game I got, when I was about 9 years old. HeartGold is the game that officially got me hooked to Pokemon.
What about you guys? Which game got you hooked?

I started with Blue back in 1998. I was only about 5 at the time but I remember that my friend had Red whilst my sister had Yellow so I ended up getting Blue!

38 My first was blue too and it took me like a month to get through Silph Co

40 I do that too, I get both and one I just restart over and over

41.

I think the first game I played was Red Version, and boy, did I suck at that game when I was 7 years old! I'm pretty sure I quit at Viridian City because the old man kept blocking me, and there was no flippin' way I'd know about Oak's parcel. >.<

(And omg, hi Tara!)

42 I somehow figured it out, by sheer luck lol
I also had a neighbor smarter than me help.

Everyone is making me feel old. My first Pokemon game was Blue, and I was ten when I first played it. I remember sitting on the floor of my bedroom beating the Elite Four a few days after I started the game.

My first RPG was actually Final Fantasy VI. So Pokemon was relatively easy compared to that.

30 It's there so new peeps can learn tho, so even tho it's annoying, it's necessary
There should still be some way for people to skip it, especially for those who are experienced. That forced tutorial is always what stops me from ever replaying games because I can't skip it, and it stops me from playing through the beginning as quickly as I'd like.

I mean, if you're playing the game on Challenge Mode, or connected B2/W2 to a completed B/W (to get the memories to fill in the rest of the story), that should have flagged something that said "This player knows how to catch a Pokemon. Give them their Poke balls so they can continue on."

Or at least make it so mashing the A button makes that forced battle go by faster.

44 that's true, having it optional would work better for us I think

And on a sad note today, one of pairs disbanded with me so it's just me and Starry Windy again. Let's all come to the conclusion he'll likely be my only pair that ever sticks around.

My first ever Pokémon Game was Blue. I chose Squirtle as my starter and Starmie was the Ace of my team.

I speedran through Silver, really enjoyed Sapphire and Emerald then took a break from the series until White 2 came out. White 2 was pretty much the game that got me back into the series.

Wow, you all started so early. My first game was Diamond, I think I was about 12 or so at the time. At that age you'd expect the game not to be super hard, but as a total noob it took me one entire playthrough to figure out that there was a difference between attack and special attack.

Mostly, I'm just always annoyed at the forced "let's learn how to catch Pokemon!" tutorial at the beginning of every playthrough.

Most RPGs let you figure out everything yourselves and I wouldn't have a problem if Pokémon would also skip these trivial things, or at least make them an optional tutorial at the start of the game. I don't really get why you're able to catch Pokémon before that guy explains how to do that. Every time I just want to shout to him "Yes I know how to catch Pokémon, how else do you think I have a party of six already?"

Really? I never thought anyone other than Windy would actually stick with me.

Aw, come on, don't be so negative. I think I can speak for everyone here if I say we love to have you around here. :)

The 50th one!

So what is a pair exactly?

52 A pair is like, a duo? Like both meowstic are a pair

So I aced this semester like a boss for the first time and its only been 2/4 weeks of midterms.

Have you guys been playing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games lately?
I've went back and beaten the Primal Dialga on PMD Explorers of Sky. I'll also go back to Soulsilver now cos I have 9999 watts on Pokewalker and I have got to transfer them lol. Also gotta go to White and do some missions lol.
