we're about 14k or so members away from 1,000,000 members registered on pokecommunity

i just happened to notice we're about 14,000 members away from 1,000,000 users registered

how does it feel to know there's over 900,000 users on here i believe we're almost at 20 years of pc existing unless I'm wrong about that

It makes me feel so old, oh my god. There's been almost 950k new members since I joined.
It should also speak to how successful this forum has been. It may not be one of the most active websites out there, but it certainly takes some effort to get so many people to join.

Even though I'm pretty sure a good chunk of them only made accounts to download rom hacks (that's how I started out even lol), I'm glad the community is still very much alive and thriving, even in the dystopian year of 2022. I fully expected forums to have died out completely by now, but sites like Pokecommunity continue to prove me wrong~

i mean i can remember when it was closer to 200k lmao

interestingly enough i was the 376th user past that mark

wow that means more than 60,000 people joined after I did in nor more than a year, considering my user number is 130,771.

here's another factoid of the day, serebii and bulbagarden forums don't even come close in the amount of registered users that pc has. Serebii has a lot, but <300,000 (but almost there, from the looks of it) and Bulbagarden Forums doesn't even have 100k members.

putting that into perspective, i'd say Pokecommunity is likely the biggest pokemon forum if we're talking numbers alone.

Well, "users" may not be the right word. Sure we have a lot of them but there's also a huge amount of bots among the registered accounts. Most of them just don't do anything.

Still probably the biggest community, though.

yeah, accounts registered is definitely what I should have said instead of users, my bad. still an amazing number though, i assume only the pokemon subreddit is bigger than pc in terms of registered accounts. (Or I guess in this case people following the subreddit).

It's odd watching the website I spent my entire childhood do the opposite, and go from 70,000 active users per day, to 6,700. They made some awful decisions, and I keep morbidly checking every day as it declines further and further into it's grave.

I'm happy for the success of Pokecommunity. As a relatively later user, I would have liked to see it's growth. Then again, this place is almost the same age as me.

850k bots and fangame downloaders, but 50k+ lovely amazing superusers who keep the community thriving. I'm glad to have been a part of it c:
