    hey guys hey!!

i've been working for a social research institute for 2.5 years now collecting survey data for research studies, but i'm just a temp, and the hours are baad. so i'm putting in my two weeks in the next couple of days! i just started a new job working as a food runner at an italian restaurant and the hours are already way better. it's not in my field anymore, but a bug's gotta pay the bills. in the long term, i'd like to work in urban data science. i have a million ideas a day on what that actually entails, so we'll see what i end up following through on, lol.

what about you all! what jobs do you have/what jobs have you had? how do you feel about the work? what are your long-term goals? do you remember what you wanted to do for a career when you first started playing pokémon? i think i wanted to work for pixar at the time.

I really want to be able to just do content creation. It probably sounds silly, but being able to work on my preferred hours while also doing what I enjoy sounds like a lot of fun. But setting that aside, if it weren't possible, my ideal is to work from home and not deal with clients/customers - I've been trampled by them in past jobs so many times that I never want to do it again if I can help it. Definitely not in-person, and ideally not over the phone either. Something a bit slower-paced working internally that also pays well, too. I think I'm speaking for everyone here when I say that though lol.

I wanted to be a writer when I first started playing the game. I can write fics now but... that's it lol 👀

Honestly, I can't work due to being on disability and stuff... but if I could, I would want to work with with disabled folk. I feel like I could be a rolemodel for them in being able to understand themselves and the like because where I have disabilities myself.

/shrugs commission work ig. I hate the idea of retail/dealing with customers in person. Proofreading is the only other thing. Maybe behind the scenes at a library.

[PokeCommunity.com] what do you do/want to do for work?

I like this idea for a thread! I've been on a sort of personal journey over the past couple years or so regarding this type of stuff.

I used to work in the back end of trading card and hobby shops, because I played the Pokemon TCG very regularly at this one store, got to know the staff there, and they had an opening. It was easy work, a way to turn my hobby into a moneymaker, and I didn't have to be social. That was the kind of job I planned to do for several years, if not a long time, and long story short it didn't work out for me. While I'm very hopeful I can return to that job very soon, because god it was fantastic, my actual goal now is to go to school for a Library Technician program and work in a library in some manner in my home city. I think libraries are really fantastic places that people don't appreciate or show enough love to in the modern day. Whenever I was having difficulties in my childhood and skipped school I'd frequently go to a nearby library because it was a safe space with free wi-fi, bathrooms, and a way to charge my electronics, but a public space like a library that offers services like computers/the internet, books, music, movies, and video games offers so much good to the community and people who are less fortunate. I'd love to be able to directly do my part to make them run smoothly and contribute to what they allow people to do.

My ideal job is one which requires little effort, little to no stress, and I can work 30 or (preferably) less hours and survive. I don't really care what the job is, as long as it meets those marks. I may not be a NEET anymore, but I am in spirit.

My current job is none of the above.

My ideal job would be to work in rehab and physical therapy. But, I don't have the money to go to school to work in that field.
i'm just gonna say this as someone who used to work in higher education, but if it's something you definitely want to pursue, then look into it! start by looking at community or state colleges in your area that have these offerings, apply, and then fill out a fafsa form. you could very well be eligible for grants to get you through schooling without having to pay anything out of pocket!

My jobs have all been the very basic type. Factory work, fast food and temp jobs. Pretty much anything that pays the bills. One of my favorite jobs (even when everyone was a pain in the ass) was my last one working at Round 1. The best way to explain it is a Japanese version of Dave and Busters but with more. Japanese games but we also offer pool tables, bowling, darts, ping pong, karaoke and much more depending on what store you go to. I was able to work directly with corporate from Japan when they came to our store to work on promotional things for each section.

As of right now after leaving Round 1 in 2021 because I got tired of doing the jobs of every department (because I could do everything but work the bar) I'm looking to get disability with all of my health issues and the Drs screaming at me to get it. I've been trying to work on making jewlwery to sell but with it getting nice out I really don't want to be stuck in the house making things.

I've wanted to be a wrestler till that went to hell because of my health but I LOOOOVE everything weather-related (until it comes here and I lose my mind over it. Go figure...lol.) I've loved the weather ever since I was a kid and could watch The Weather Channel for hours.
