Hi all, most of you already know me as either AlexOzzyCake, Ozzy, or Squirrel, but I think it's time to make a thread of my own here so you can all look at my juicy insides and probe around until there's nothing left unexplored! Gross right? My name's Alex, I'm 20 and I live in England. I'm currently a third year Chemistry student at the University of Reading and am studying for a four year Masters course. My main hobbies include video games (specifically League of Legends and Summoner's War right now), playing guitar, cooking, listening to music, and researching topics that I find interesting (mostly animal-related). My history on PC involved joining, becoming a moderator for Pokémon Clubs, meeting a tonne of new friends, having some ups and some downs, and then taking a long break from a mixture of work overload and generally being in a bad state of mind from constant medical troubles. That's all pretty much sorted now though, so I guess let's get on to the questions!

I'm happy to be asked about literally anything you can think of, no matter how personal. Where's the fun in only answering generic questions? There are one or two topics that I'm not comfortable with but I don't imagine they'd ever come up, so let's get started! Ask away 'til your heart's content.

Are there any people on PC you've always wanted to get to know, but never gotten around to?

There's certainly a few! Sylphiel has always seemed lovely but I've no idea on common interests, Mr Cat Dog was always fun to talk to but I was rubbish at keeping up conversations, Captain Fabio would have been nice to get to know as I think he would probably be quite different to talk to as a friend than as a staff member, Dragon has always been someone I'd like to know better despite us talking in a Skype chat all the time, Rika has always seemed like a great person whom I'd love to get to know again (we used to talk but only for a brief period), and Audy has always seemed like a really interesting guy but I don't think we'd share much common ground outside of some shows to watch. There's probably a few more but that's all I can think of for now haha.

Are there any people on PC that are no longer around whom you miss?

Cid I still miss, he was a lot of fun to talk to and it's a big shame he left, and Flubb was a similar case, I'd love to know what he's up to now. Otherwise I can't really think of anyone - there used to be people like Hannah but the last time she did come on it was really awkward, and... well, that's all I can remember, but I don't tend to miss people unless they've made quite a big impact.

Best moment of your life?

Talking to you It has to be the time that I first met my boyfriend irl. We had spent several months in a long distance relationship over Skype and finally got to physically meet up which was probably the best thing I've ever gotten to do. It was a magical weekend, mostly due to the meeting but also partly due to it being my first ever trip to Ireland (and not to mention my first time navigating an airport, that was scary!), and it's one of the fondest memories I have haha.

Favourite foods?

Bolognese is my favourite it's the beeeeeeest. I also love curry, jacket potatoes with tuna, vol au vents (we have a special recipe!), chicken ceaser salad, lasagne, fajitas... I like lots of food basically :D

What are the top 3 places you'd like to travel to?

I'd love to go to Australia to see the wildlife, it looks so much more interesting than what's over here, I'd love to visit Denmark to see Copenhagen and annoy a certain lovable bird, and I'd love to visit some really cold place where it snows all the time and feels like it's constantly Christmas!

Name some of your favourite bands/artists!

My top three favourites are Biffy Clyro, Arctic Monkeys and Snow Patrol, but I also love Franz Ferdinand, Avenged Sevenfold, Muse, Coldplay, Eric Clapton, Genesis, Pulp... there are countless more but those are my top 10 that I can think of right now!

If you could learn an instrument besides the guitar, what would you learn?

Piano! I always adored how the piano sounds but it's just really impractical to learn for me right now given that you need a piano near you haha.

Depends what the insects were but almost certainly yes! If there was no chance I'd get sick from it and as long as they weren't wasps or something then I would :D

Since I'm assuming you like Digimon, is Tamers your favourite?

Yup! I found the characters/general plot so much more likable than most other series and the Digimon they had as partners were really interesting compared to Adventure. Objectively the Digimon in Adventure probably were more interesting, but when you grow up with Augumon and Gabumon being everywhere around you it gets hard to still view them as such haha.

Favourite digimon (if it's not Terriermon)/ digimon you'd like to have as a partner?

Now that's a tough question! My favourites are Rookie: Penguinmon/Armadillomon/Gotsumon, Champion: Frigimon/Seadramon/Bakemon, Ultimate: Giromon/Shogungeckomon/Angewoman, Mega: Piedmon/MegaGargomon/HerculesKabuterimon... Ok so I like a lot of Digimon XD I guess the number one favourite would have to be Seadramon, I know it's quite a boring pick but I've always found him to be such a cool and powerful looking Digimon whilst carrying such an elegance about him in everything he does. Not very typical of me to choose something strong over something cute, but he's an exception haha.

What's do you think the best Crest would suit you the most?

Hmm, tough question! I guess I'd probably say the Crest of Hope, I always found that concept most appealing and in general I think I'm quite an optimistic person. Plus I adore Patamon ♥

Favourite thing/s you like to cook?

Bolognese and chicken korma are the standard dishes I've been cooking recently but making more interesting meals like vol au vents or burritos is always fun and I especially enjoy baking. My favourite thing to make is a pork pie recipe that has quail eggs in the middle of each pie - usually I hate pork pies because all the jelly and stuff makes me feel sick but I found a way to make them where they're just amaaaaazing.

First impressions of PC when you first joined?

Honestly I'm not sure, it all went by pretty quickly! I guess at first I found everyone really welcoming due to how friendly they were in the welcome lounge, then as time went on it just started to feel like a really good atmosphere to talk about my childhood memories in. Then after a few months of joining I was asked to be staff so everything changed quite quickly and it felt a little daunting but I'd say that's the point where I really got to know the community well and that's when PC started to feel like a home - before then I'd spent all my time just posting in Pokémon Clubs nonstop haha.

Anyone you've thought of differently/ intimidated upon seeing them round the forum? (Before you got to know them of course).

There are one or two people I can think of whom after getting to know them I've been a bit disappointed with how different they are to their posting style, but in general I think I have a pretty good view of most people's personalities so I don't tend to get surprised by how people turn out. As for people who I initially found intimidating, the only two I can really think of are Captain Fabio whom I never actually got to know outside of staff conversation, and Abnegation whom I severely misjudged based on his standard tone than I mistook to be patronizing - I probably owe him an apology at some point :p

As far as cooking goes I mostly just cook standard meals like bolognese or curry, but I enjoy cooking more interesting things like vol au vents and more time-consuming meals - it's just hard finding the time to do it! I mostly enjoy baking and pork pies with quail eggs in the middle are my best thing to make, but I'll cook pretty much anything if there's a reason to haha. I also like experiment with different types of cakes/cookies/brownies etc to find which recipes work the best, but that's not very interesting stuff!

I'd go to Harry Potter World again and buy all the souvenirs! Honestly I'd probably just go to the zoo with a bunch of friends (you gotta come k its my birthday party) and spend all day watching the sea lions. Then binge on animal plushies in the gift shop ♥

What year/era would you pick to visit if you could travel back in time?

Honestly I probably wouldn't - there's no period of time I'd really be interested in seeing. I'm not into history at all and I appreciate building on past knowledge, but not so much knowing how it was discovered. I guess if I had to choose I'd go back to the times when the periodic table was only 10 elements long, just to see how they explained simple things like wood burning or even rocks fizzing in acid. Could be fun!

If you could change one thing about you or your life, what would that be if anything?

I'd have a 100% smooshier face and everyone will love me *o* I'd probably change my attitude to university - I don't do as much work as I should for it and it'll probably end up costing me the grade I need, but I find it hard to get motivated for it so... yeah :p

Being that you're a chemistry major, I can't help but ask: What's your favorite element?

Platinum! The area of research I'm doing my dissertation on involves making platinum wires with internal structures that give a really big surface area for more efficient reactions, so I've grown quite fond of the metal in general through researching it so thoroughly haha.

Do you play acoustic, electric, or classical guitar?

I play both acoustic and electric, never tried classical! I prefer electric but at uni I mostly stick to acoustic because my amp's too big to bring here :(

Lots :D I'm always stuck making dinner for us so I make spaghetti bolognese twice a week, lasagna pretty often, meatballs, risotto, looots of pizza (though not often from scratch!), ceaser salad paninis... I think it's our favourite type of food so I have to cook it a lot haha.

Where did the name Ozzy come from?

I really have trouble remembering! I remember it was from my middle school, I think my best friend at the time gave me the name in a history class but I can't quite remember why... I believe we were learning about the JFK assassination and the shooter, Oswald, apparently looked like me in one of the photos, so she called me Ozzy and I think it just stuck as a nickname from then on haha. Delightfully cheerful origins :D

How did you enjoy your time as mod of Pokemon Clubs? Did it ever change your perspective on the community as a whole?

It was great, definitely the best time I've had on PC (despite it being 80% of the time I'd spent here...). It was nice feeling like you could make a difference to people's daily lives, even if it was just on a Pokémon forum, and I've always had a big like for organizing events so it was a pretty nice time. Helping out members and answering questions was always fun and having Olli as a partner to do all the boring adminstrationy stuff made it a really cozy set-up! I tended to run the 'public' side of the section whilst Olli handled more of the background, it worked well I think and it made the job a lot easier for both of us haha.

Would you ever return to the battle server community one day?

I would, but honestly I'm not not very interested in competitive battling any more and I always forget to check the chat when I do come, even if I'm in the middle of a conversation on it. XD I'll try swing by again soon haha.

Do you believe that League of Legends may ever have a sequel? What do you believe the longevity for the game now is?

I don't think they'd ever make a sequel, I'm not sure that really suits MMO arena games like LoL too much since they're constantly updating as the game goes on haha. As for the longevity that's a tough question - I feel like the game will never really get old but at the same time people are constantly complaining about the balance team/company in general recently since they've managed to mess up quite a few champions/game aspects, so I think it depends on whether they get their act together or not but in general I'd say the game has a good long time to go yet haha.

What is one characteristic of yourself that you wish you could improve on?

My attitude to work! This week has been one of the most stressful I've ever had since I'd left all my coursework until the last minute and ended up having to do about 40 pages of dissertation work over the space of 5 days. The whole term I've known I should have been working on it earlier and I really wish I had, but I can just get so lazy when it comes to doing work and it's hard to get motivated I guess haha. Definitely would want to change this, would save me a lot of hassle.

What is a movie you really want to see but have never set aside time to see it?

Hmm, I know I'll probably get some weird looks for this but I think I'll have to go with 50 Shades. I've been really curious about the film since its release and honestly I've been hoping to see it just to see what the hype is about and see what the general concept is. I loosely know the story but from Ellie Goulding's music video for Love Me Like You Do I've seen some really artistic looking clips and I'm just kind of hoping the whole production follows suit. I'm sure it'll probably be a gross and creepy disappointment that I'll wish I had never contemplated in the first place, but for now that's my answer!
