Which game had the best post game content?

Best: Gold/Silver/Crystal. Gave you all of Kanto. Certainly had its flaws with the level curve. Was still nice to revisit the "several years later" version with new sprites, a new battle theme, and a remixed gym order. Kind of offered new Pokemon too. (Literally never sees Slugma or Magcargo in Johto, even on trainers, minus maybe the Battle Tower.)

Worst: Red/Blue/Yellow. Almost named Scarlet/Violet here (not counting DLC). Viewed Cerulean Cave and Mewtwo as less interesting than getting some character dialogue post-game.

Edit: Forgot about Scarlet/Violet's 7-star Tera Raids. Enjoyed those. Ranks it quite a bit higher than second-to-last.

I lean towards Platinum, by virtue of its Battle Frontier and where the Physical/Special split made a lot more Pokémon more viable in battle regardless of how their base stats line up with their type, which was my main gripe in Emerald's Battle Frontier.
 
I want to say HeartGold and SoulSilver since it took the base of Kanto from gen 2 but heavily expanded upon it. But there's also Black and White 1 and 2 with exploring the second half of the map and providing a decent challenge. Both are genuinely great and fun to explore.
 
Out of the games I have played platinum and crystal have good postgames, with crystal having kanto and platinum having the battle frontier and contests (which are quite replayable).
 
I mean it's gen 2 and dppt for me as well. While, I don't despise gen 5 either though: three more areas to explore, the Cynthia's boss battle, and BW2 having N's final quest. Gen 2 and the remakes gave us a whole new region, which is pretty hard to beat, even though in terms of long time playing platinum beats them all imo: not only three new areas to explore, the Heatran quest, the Regigigas quest (the temple can only be accessed later), the Battle Frontier, the villa forniture quests, the exclusive ribbons.
 
Out of all the games I've played, the one with the best postgame content wasn't even a mainline game, but Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team. There was so much in that game's postgame that it felt like the main story was just a tutorial for everything that came afterwards. You got to switch the Pokemon you controlled away from your hero and partner, got to evolve, and got access to five-eighths of the game's dungeons.

HGSS were the best out of the mainline games, but compared to Mystery Dungeon, it's still really no contest.

While I agree with the Battle Frontier take, Gen 3 is also unique in the fact that the Physical/Special split is type based, which made some interesting choices. Moves like (to name a few):
