I'm leaning towards Rowlet for my Sun version and Popplio for my Moon version. I like to choose the one that seems to be the least popular of the three cuz, I don't know, I like an underdog.

Merged this with the starter thread that already existed. Remember to make sure that a topic doesn't already have a thread when you're posting, guys!

Also, I am waiting til the final stages are revealed before I choose. I remember liking all the first form starters in gen V a lot and...the final stages were very underwhelming for me. So much that I almost always ditch my starter in those games.

As if my avatar and signature aren't already a sign, I am going to pick Popplio! It's because most recent generations saw me side with the initially unpopular Water-type starter (Oshawott says hi) and I know how awesome they became upon the final evolutions being revealed, so Popplio could become something awesome too.

Rowlet! All the way!

Then again I'm getting both versions so Rowlet on Sun and Litten for moon

Well, I'd say as of now, the sea lion thing, since water usually tends to be my first choice for a starter as most of the water starter's final forms look cooler than the other 2 to me. Though I do quite like all 3 of them so far, but I like the water guy the most among the 3.

I doubt that the Fire starter's theme will break since we have only done like 6 out of all 12. That being said, if we decide that the region is based off asia or something, I'm expecting a small cute cat who evolves into a big menacing tigre for this one.

The Water starter's theme tends to be water creatures who can still exist outside of water. So I'm hoping for a platypus here. An elephant could be decent too.

For the Grass starter I'm sure they broke it's trend so it can be anything. I'm half expecting some stick insect or something bug-like.
Back when we were speculatin the starters I said this... and I managed to get at least one correct. this is good...?

Hey guys! Something I wanted to ask everyone in this thread: Do you guys have a tradition of picking certain starters over others?

I don't think I do, but it seems I usually pick Grass / Water starters, Cyn/Chimchar I've made exceptions for. I usually pick what I like best. So this time around, so far I'm leaning towards Popplio.

Surprised to see a grass type leading the poll 'cause it's usually the fire type. :D

Hey guys! Something I wanted to ask everyone in this thread: Do you guys have a tradition of picking certain starters over others? Like for myself, I've always picked the Grass-type starters ever since Gen II or so, and that's more or less because I've always been fond of the Grass-type. But I'm thinking, since I'm getting both versions, I might start with Rowlet in one version and then another starter Pokemon in the other, just to break that tradition and see how it feels. I'd probably go Litten to see what starting with a Fire-type would be like.

My main playthrough is still going to be with Rowlet, but it's very tempting to see what a play through with Litten would be like.

I always pick the grass types too I don't know why. It's actually ironic how I love the colors blue and red; and green never really appealed to me but I still choose grass types. {XD}

My mind was made up as soon as I saw it for the first time. Kind of 'love at first sight'
the cuteness movements it made in the introduction, the cute design, and reminding me of my own pets at home. I know I'll choose it right away.

That starter is Litten.
made very similar movements to my own cats at home.
I also love cats in real life so my decision was easy.

.
Not me, I just go with which ever starter I find cute or I really love.

I always picked starters based on their design, though my personal tastes typically lean towards water types. (Squirtle/Bulbasaur -> Totodile -> Mudkip -> Turtwig -> Tepig -> Froakie) Water types in general tend to be some of my favourites, even the generic fish ones, so eh.

I'm siding with grass types for now though. I thought Popplio would end up being the first water starter I'd dislike but the fella is growing on me and I'm picking it for my 2nd playthrough whenever that is.

I'm getting Litten, for sure! I squeed so much when I saw it. I love cats, and the fire starter tends to be my favorite of a generation's starters more often than not, so you bet I'm going with the kitten fire starter :D

Hey guys! Something I wanted to ask everyone in this thread: Do you guys have a tradition of picking certain starters over others?

Nope. I just pick the one I like the most.

Which for me has been: Squirtle (Water), Chikorita (Grass), Torchic (Fire), Piplup (Water), Oshawott (Water), Fennekin (Fire) and presumably Rowlet (Grass)

I don't really understand the loyalty people have to a certain starter type. What if you just don't like them? Just use them anyway "just because"? ~_~

I usually have a tradition of picking the Water-type, since it's my fave type and blue is my fave colour. I did take a break from Water once and that was in 4th Gen, when I picked Chimchar for D/P/Pt and Cyndaquil for HG/SS.

Most of the time I choose the fire starter in my second playthrought, or when playing a challenge, because I always feel like fire type pokémon are hardest to get early in game (grass: first forest, water: old rod). But Water type is my favourite of the three!

I was so set on Litten when I first seen the trailer, I just thought it looked so cute and like it had so much potential. That being said Popplio is growing on me more and more as time goes on! I always pick the Water starter as tradition too (other than Cyndaquil). I think I'll stick with that method of choosing but I'm open to change once I see the evolutions!
