I had an Xbox 360 controller break once. It came with Bayonetta back when I first got my system. I used it for all of two months and then literally none of the buttons would register that something was going on. Other than that the only controller I have that's anywhere close to maybe dying is my PS2 controller that I've had since I bought my fat PS2 way back when. That thing has seen some play and it's about ready to retire. The right joystick has been sticking some lately and I'm sure I could fix it, but once I took it apart I doubt I'd ever end up getting it back together lol.

Make sure you take care of your controllers, kids. The price of them isn't like the good ol' '00 days, as they are ridiculously expensive today ($50 I believe.) That's why I do my best to care of my controllers, although granted one time I completely destroyed my N64 controller when my TV fell on top of it. Nonetheless, I'm happy that it was only the controller that was damaged and not the TV.

Yeah, controllers these days are more expensive than games usually. A new Gamecube controller cost me £25 back then. A new PS4 controller now would cost £50. That's some ridiculous price inflation. But then, it's happened to games as well...RRP used to be about £25, and now it's gone up to anywhere between £50-60. No wonder they say gaming is a rich man's hobby.

A couple of my controllers are in a state where they mostly work but then there's a slight problem with them that makes you kinda not wanna use it, like one of them, the control stick kinda wants to do its own thing and make everything go to the left a bit....

But playing Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles by yourself was so damn frustrating. xD
I put 30-something in-game years into that game. 99% of it done by myself. Then there's like PSO which is kinda the same deal where it was more meant to be played online/with other people but i never played it online and 95% of the time I'd be going solo.
.....there might be something wrong with me

And that right there is why I haven't bought anything "new" in a while. I get most of my games from local used game stores because even their new releases are around 10 or 15 dollars cheaper than other places. And if I ever start getting to the point that I need a new controller for something I search goodwill and craigslist. I am not paying some outrageous price for a controller. I'd just as quick hook up a guitar hero controller to play Dark Souls........

You have a phenomenal amount of patience...I got so sick of waiting for my moogle to catch up with me, or demanding that I take the chalice from it. The Goblin Wall was the last straw for me; that was as far as I got by myself. Maybe I was just extremely impatient, but I enjoyed it quite a bit when I played it with a friend, when we could swap chalice duty as and when. The DS titles were fantastic as well. Shame about the Wii version, though. The less said about Crystal Bearers, the better. xD

I don't think I've ever had a console controller break, so I wouldn't know the prices of controllers between then and now. The prices you people list do seem a bit extreme though, ouch. :X Only time I've had to buy a new controller was for my ps2, and that was when I lost my original one (found it right after I bought the new one, go figure). I don't even remember the price for that one, can't have been too bad if I don't recall.

Speaking of controllers, I went out yesterday and bought a cheap gamepad. Oh my god why did I not think of doing this before this is awesome.

Gamepad as in what, a special controller for a computer?

I'm making a thread on this, but absolute madness is going on right now:
Nintendo parterning with DeNA(Mobage) for mobile development and the online infrastructure for their new platform, codnamed NX. Absolute Madness I tell ye!

Aah, consoles...

the last time I was active with a console was with a SEGA Genesis and my little mini TV. There was something about playing it for real that just didn't match up with emulation.

There's also Columns III for the Genesis and this XS Junior League Dodgeball game for the PSX, and that's about it. I'd rather PC game with what's out for the new consoles and stuff, for performance/$. But I'd still use a console controller.

I can't imagine going without a console for that long...even though I came very late into consoles due to lack of funds. I didn't get a PS2 until 2005 or thereabouts, I think. Money was tight back then, and I had to make do with handhelds...not that I minded. I've always preferred handheld games <3

On a minor note, people are selling their FFXV demo codes for half the price of Type 0 HD on eBay right now...I know what I'll be doing with mine if/when it comes later on today, aha.

After hearing that Kojima is leaving Konami after MGSV, I think it's safe to say that he isn't trolling this time with previous installments, and that MGSV will be indeed his last Metal Gear. This has me thinking if Sakurai's statement of Smash 4 being his last game in the series also holds water.

Ok I am preparing for some extreme "WTF?!" moment here when I say this:

I never played any Metal Gear anything. I do one day would like to pick up a used copy, or even digital because of how inexpensive it is.

I don't know that he'll actually leave and stay gone though. I think if he hears them start talking about another one he'll come back because MGS is like his baby. You don't let someone else take your baby. That's how series turn to shit.

The same thing happened with Masahiro Sakurai. He was ready to leave it all behind after brawl, but when they started making the last one he just couldn't let someone else take it over and he decided to come back. And he'll probably be with it until he dies.
