If I could make a suggestion to Nintendo, it'd be for them to name their systems better. Nintendo is the only one of the big three where people are confused as to what system is what and what plays which games because of their dumbass naming conventions. Particularly when they have multiple versions of the same system per generation.

Also, this:

Also I really wish Nintendo wouldn't allow all these terrible games to make it through to their systems. All the ****** Wii games that emulate Wii Sports, party games, the Imagine series, etc shouldn't be put through. I get that they're kids games, but kids aren't stupid. They'll know it sucks. Kids deserve good games to grow up on. All these games you can pick up for literally a buck or two? Just a waste of a Wii case. I haven't seen this happening with the Wii U so far and it better stay this way. But the Wii got LITTERED with ****. And it doesn't deserve that. Players didn't and the system didn't either. That's part of where its ridicule stems from.

All that shovelware crap shouldn't have existed, and it's beyond me how Wii Sports and its related ilk sold so much.

Definitely sort the whole account system thing out. At the moment, your eShop purchases and the like are tied to your system and not your NNID; this means that if you lost/broke your 3DS or Wii U, there'd be no way to redownload all your games. As someone who's begun to buy games from the eShop rather than from shops, this is crazy. Iwata talked about this issue a while ago, but nothing's been done so far... please Nintendo, do something about this!!

In Nintendo's defense, while these games may seem trivial to us adults, it probably does appease pretty well to young kids. Or at the very least, they still get sucked into it. It's easy to criticize it from an adult standpoint - because even I'll say they are just a whole bunch of crap - but for kids, they're most likely still entertained. Although I can't really say that it will be the same quality as some games from our childhood, like for me it was Harry Potter's Quidditch World Cup and The Haunted Mansion on the Gamecube that really got me, even though neither of those games were really that popular/mainstream (which, by the way, are both fantastic games.)

I also had another suggestion about making their games a little better. I mean, I love Mario games more than the next person... but all of these spin offs like Mario Kart Racing and such? Do people even care about those games anymore? It seems like they are trying to gain a more childish response from kids. I've never seen Nintendo come out with something geared more towards adults. If anyone can name an adult Nintendo game, I'd love to hear it. They'd make a lot more money if they followed both crowds. In other words, gear towards children AND adults. Just look at Sony and Microsoft (Xbox franchise).

I mean yeah, I imagine it's hard coming up with an young adult genre game for 3DS or something, but it wouldn't be that hard for the Wii. I do know one game and that is the ones it came with (IE, Wii Fitness and those games). Other than that, my question rings true... have they ever come up with a game geared towards younger/older adults?

Mario Kart 8 is one of the best selling Nintendo games in recent times and it's widely considered the turning point for the Wii U selling units. Smash Bros. is also considered one of the best series that Nintendo has, yet it's a spin-off.

Adult Nintendo games: Bayonetta 2, Eternal Darkness, and ZombiU to name a few.

Nintendo doesn't need to create exclusively violent, sexualized games because their entire lineup caters to everyone.

Other adult-oriented titles: Fire Emblem, Bravely Default, the Persona/Shin Megami series.

So to answer your question: Yes. They have adult-themed games.

I had no idea. I guess I'm just not into racing games because I'm so horrible at them lol.

Yeah, I guess that's true. I still think Nintendo's main goal is to attract a younger audience, even though they are attracting both adults and children. It's kind of odd to me because the only thing I've ever played is Pokemon, Digimon World: Dusk, Disney Magical World and Animal Crossing (just started it and still getting the hang of it).

Anyway, this is why the need to make their 3DSes or future ones more durable:

As you can see, it was chipped. It still plays fine... but it's just bothersome sometimes. I don't even know how it happened. I really think the big issue here is making them more durable so stuff like this doesn't happen.

Nintendo's main goal is to create high-quality titles and innovative technology to enhance the gamer's experience. Does it always work? No. But better than promoting mediocrity.

I guess if that's all you played, you wouldn't understand why Mario Kart is so popular. :P

??? I've never had a chipped or damaged system from any company unless it was my own fault. I've never even had to replace a Nintendo console. If you treat your systems well and respectfully, they shouldn't get damaged at all. I certainly wouldn't say Nintendo makes low-quality ones.

To get back to your thread topic however, I would definitely like to see Nintendo produce more titles like Hyrule Warriors, Luigi's Mansion, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and Star Fox: Adventures. I think their IPs are their greatest asset and creating unique spin-off titles was always something I wished they did more of. I also think they need to seriously bring back old franchises and try to modernize them or even just give them sequels. F-Zero, Mother, Metroid, even Ice Climbers. It worked for Kid Icarus and I think they need to re-evaluate their old IPs that have a lot of depth and wealth to add to the Nintendo lineup.

NEW TOPIC!

Do you guys consider retro gaming (NES, SNES, Genesis, etc.) to be of a higher quality than today's gaming? (Wii U/Wii, Xbox One/360, PS4/3? If so, what makes those games so interestingly good? If not, why are games simply better today?

EDIT: And for Shadow's sake, if you hate consoles, why is PC better?

OK TO START OFF I DO NOT HATE CONSOLES TYVM xD

It is not that PC is better than consoles, but it IS a gaming platform along the consoles :P
The thing why PC-master race exists is because PC's can get their hardware changed where as the consoles can't and since graphical technology increases every day, games get more demanding to look good, which imo is not a big deal because I play games in a different way than the "PC-master race" people :P
And that results into consoles getting locked to 30fps, not having graphical options and no FoV options. Does that matter to me? Well maybe the 30fps thing, that bugs me ever since I switched to PC gaming because if you drop at 30fps, you drop to the 20's which is awful tbh.

This. So much.

Nintendo's IPs have generally been really solid games, and that's one of their strengths. It's a little sad to see some perfectly good series be neglected. And really, they can't keep living off of Mario and Zelda and Pokemon and the occasional Smash Bros or 3rd party hit forever. Besides, series reboots have been a big thing the past couple of years, and Nintendo could totally cash in on that, especially because reboots of their IPs are more likely to do well than reboots of some other series (clearly it worked well for Kid Icarus). We all know how powerful nostalgia can be.

Except no Captain Toad spin-offs. Just no.

You do realize that Mario Kart 8 was one of Nintendo's major releases and best sellers of the year right? And is one of the most popular games to play online at the moment. I'm part of a small Skype group that plays MK8 together as well. So...yeah. People do like Mario Kart and the next Mario Party is also pretty highly anticipated as it's making major changes to the series, as did the last one actually.

And for what it's worth, I see a lot of adult looking Miis when I play MK8 online...dont know a lot of kids with full beards. :P
Wooo, shout out! :D

My suggestion for Nintendo would be to give me the keys. lol Not for the finer details or game design. But leverage and the bigger picture. Where they have holes in their lineup. Which internal dev teams and third parties would be best suited to tackling an IP. Extent of content. Quality control and cohesion :p

Honestly though, those are all things I think Nintendo should be trying to get a better handle on. Also courting third parties big time.

Definitely agree on making their handhelds more durable. I've dropped my GBA SP once before accidentally, and it immediately began malfunctioning (such as when you'd turn it on, it would automatically shut itself down few seconds later), which was sort of troublesome. Similar thing happened to my DS Lite, but thankfully, it wasn't as intense. Am afraid of making my 3DS due to the same, exact reason, which causes me to be extra careful while handling. If it were more strong, I would've been able to worry a little less, which, I feel, would be nice.

Alongside, another suggestion I would make is turning DLC more prominent. This would allow us to extend our game, and continue playing after we're done with its story. Of course, some of there video games do have these things, but there's still a lot that don't, especially Pokémon; if Pokémon had DLC, I'm sure many of us would be into them.

I've had many other ideas as to what Nintendo would possibly be able to try and whatnot, but right now, these are the only ones I could think of, aha.
My GBA SP fell many many times, and it still works, after more than 10 years.

I agree with you on this so freaking much. They've been guilty of bad product names since the beginning though lol. NES to SNES. Game Boy with the Pocket, Color, Advance, Micro, and SP. xD

I personally thought Super NES was a fine name...I mean, it made sense. Then a number for N64 because bits...okay...still on the sense train. But GameCube...which, don't get me wrong, is an awesome name in my opinion, but it just doesn't...yeah. Wii???? What???? Excuse????? WII U??????????????? UM MA'AM????????????????? Honestly, I'm not too bothered by Nintendo's naming system other than the Wii U and the New 3DS because UGH that's gonna be annoying af.

To whoever said bringing back old IPs though, YES. All of the yes. I love Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, etc, but there are SO many great Nintendo franchises that could use the reboot. I'm looking at YOU Mother series even though it's been stated by Itoi that there will be no more ITOI CAN'T YOU JUST DO ANOTHER SERIES PLEASE????? But there's also Star Fox, F-Zero, someone even said Ice Climbers for Christ's sake. And this all being said, I hope Splatoon does really well and it doesn't go into remission for twenty years.

For what it's worth though, I love Nintendo. They make strange and bad decisions, sure, but when they get something right, by God, they get it right.

I don't feel retro gaming is of higher quality than today's. Games we have around right now are better in almost each and every aspect, arguably, whether it be graphics, mechanics, features, you name it. Some older video games might surpass current in terms of story and whatnot, but that more or less varies from person-to-person, I believe; to me, one game could be great plot-wise, but to someone else, it might wind up to be terrible. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same, exact taste, haha. Though, when it comes to nostalgia, retro ones are usually at top (and would likely feel the same for current-generation of games when they are considered old). At least for me.

Considering there is a big wave of HD remakes of oldies + many Kickstarter indie projects that create retro-inspired games, I believe retro games in many ways do surpass today games.
But Persona and Neps are new games so new games rule.

It feels weird being in the Video Games DCC... D:

Who's got an Xbox One? I bought one over the weekend and don't have any friends so it'd be great if anybody had one and wanted to slay some Titans on Titanfall, race some cars on Forza 5 or kick some ball on Fifa 15. VeranithasVI is my XBL gamertag, always open to friend requests just include your PC name in a message if you do add me!

In other news, Halo: MCC comes out very soon and features Halo 1, 2, 3 and 4 online gameplay + campaigns. *Heavy breathing*

I've been playing a lot of retro games lately. About... 70 in the last two months? Which is both impressive and incredibly sad.

A lot of arcade and NES stuff so far. A few Master System things. I haven't even hit Super Mario Bros. yet though, so the stuff I've played is beyond ancient. There have been a couple of gems, but by and large... no.

I think it's the same as now. A see of decent games. A few gems that shine above the others.

The retro stuff is today's indie market

Skyrim's Go Pokeball mod has been taken down?

In the wonderful world of Skyrim modding, a great mod known as Go Pokeball gave players the ability to catch any creature, any person, with Pokeballs! As far as I know, it's only been hosted on the Steam Workshop, and recently it's been taken down. Does anyone know why that is? Did anyone miss their chance to download it? Is it legal for those of us who still have it to distribute it?

EDIT: Whoa, sorry about the sudden rude interruption mid-topic. This was originally a thread but was moved here.
