Would you buy the older games if they came out on Virtual Console?

    We had gens 1-2 available on the 3DS Virtual Console, but for the most part the older games are quite difficult to access and play officially now.

    If a bunch of older games came out on the Switch VC tomorrow, would you buy them? Or would you pass if you've already played most of them? Maybe you'd buy them all? (b' ')b
     
    No. I already own everything up to Gen VII on my GBA or 3DS, and no longer have my Switch.
     
    As long as I still have working copies of the originals, I'll have to pass. I did get VC Gold, but only because GSC are my favs and I don't have to worry about the dry battery thing. That and there's no other way to officially transfer from Gen. II to the modern games should I find a Shiny I really want to carry over.

    I got Crystal when it was made available on the VC, but I don't need to buy anything else at the moment. I still have working copies of all my Gen 3 and newer games and something to play them on, so there's no real reason for me to get them if they were to be put up on the Switch or Switch 2 eShop. If that was to change though I probably would.
     
    Not for Gen 1 and 2 VC, as I bought them before the eShop closure on separate consoles for self trading and not willing to get extra of what I don't need. I'm satisfied that the batteries will never die on VC for permanent save files. However, I would get VC for Gen 3 games and perhaps the GameCube titles if ever introduced in the VC back into newer consoles or even switch. (which is unlikely.) I imagine they'd eliminate "battery has run dry" message and possibly unlock mew, jirachi, and deoxys mystery gifts. Curious how they'd implement VC for DS and 3ds touch screen games, but I'm not willing to buy them due to having the original games and a console to play them on at least. Maybe the original black and white Pokemon? The only reason why DS and 3ds VC titles could entice repeat customers is to reimplement online interactions on switch or Nintendo's next console without using 3rd party means, DNS exploit, or modding your console.

    I think if they came with some nicely integrated online functions for easier trading and mystery gifts like some others have mentioned, then I'd definitely consider it. I like being able to own physical copies of games, though, so I'd probably hunt down the ones I don't have and want to play anyways.
     
    I wouldn't mind buying Leaf Green or Platinum in digital form. I have original cartridges of both, but I also don't want to delete my save data on either, so a digital re-release would be ideal. I can't see myself playing any of the other older games, though. They either haven't aged very well or have critical flaws that no abount of nostalgia can overcome.

    (I have working copies of Colo and XD as well as multiple Gamecube memory cards, so I can safely replay those games without worrying about deleting existing my save files, so I'd be less inclined to buy them again.)
     
    I'd buy the opposite versions of the carts I own physically in a heartbeat, the collector in me would have both versions without breaking the bank or emulating lmao.

    The Gen 3 events alone would be enough to convince me to buy them. Jirachi, Deoxys, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Mew. And that's just off the top of my head.

    To be honest, I'm kind of uncertain? If I was asked this a while ago I probably would've said yes, definitely. I love to actually own my favourite games whenever possible, and the Pokemon games (especially the older ones) are definitely the games I'd most want to own.
    But since I've been unable to actually purchase and own them I ended up going to other methods to play them, and because they've been unavailable for so long, those copies so to speak of the games are where I've poured all my time into. I've already put all my time and effort into those copies catching everything, filling up several living dexes, and other stuff I've really wanted to do. So it's hard to see paying money to buy those games with empty save files as a reasonable decision, in a way. I'd be compelled to in order to honestly and legally own those games, but I'd be buying them for that reason and not to... play the game that I bought.
    Another big part of it for me is just that they'd be digital copies if they're released through Virtual Console. Looking at it in terms of convenience, it'd be great to have everything available on one console without having to switch out any game cards or possibly misplace copies (it's something I've praised series like Pikmin and Xenoblade for on the Switch already) but when it comes to something like Pokemon that I treasure a lot more, I think I'd rather have physical copies I can keep on a shelf and carry around with me throughout my life if I were to buy those games. Owning something like Platinum complete in box is something I'd be absolutely thrilled about, and it's just not the same if I feel like I'm paying for some button I can click on a menu. It's a lot more emotional for me in that way, regardless of it sounding very silly when I say it out loud, I know.

    So... it's very hard for me to say yes, honestly. But I do believe just releasing those games for everybody in general is a fantastic idea, and really needs to happen. Make games accessible.
     
    No, downloading a ROM costs $0 compared to the likely ~$10-20 if they came out on VC; and emulators allow far more customization than Nintendo would (eg: hacking in Mystery Gift items, cheat codes, being able to back up save files to my hard drive, etc)
     
    I would definitely scoop virtual console older gens in a heartbeat if they integrated local and online battling/trading.
    If these virtual console could also work with Stadium and (hopefully) Colosseum, that would be the ideal cherry on top.
