  • Hope you're OK Ash. Do take it easy.

Is it worth checking to see if there was any security footage recorded at the time?

I'm ok ty, honestly! And I will! 😊

The shop might, they'll get a good chuckle if they do! I just hope my skirt wasn't halfway up my back or something 😳

  • Genuine question (well 2 actually): how do you stay focused on homework/tasks/etc., and how do you work on homework/tasks when you're not motivated at all? Because this has been my struggle in school since last year, and I think it's gotten worse since then. I'm hoping to stop it before it gets out of hand, especially since I'll be going to college next year.

  • That's hard because I don't know how your thought processes work but maybe reward yourself when you finish? I'm assuming you'll take a course you enjoy in college so it may not be as bad.

  • i can only really speak for my own methods, but i struggle with motivation a lot. the biggest hurdle in getting anything done is getting started, and i kinda just... force myself. once i get past that mountainous challenge of actually bothering to start on any given task, the rest somehow becomes easier for me? like, i'm already in the mindset of getting something done, so i might as well do it to get the weight off my back.

but that's how i function. i tend to just reluctantly push through my tasks because i don't want them piling on too much and overwhelming me.

  • Yeah, I usually just force myself with "it'll be worse if you don't do this thing" type of speech.
But as someone with depression, my motivation simply doesn't exist.

I don't know if it's still being thought about, but I agree with the rewards thing! I've always struggled with motivation, and I learned I just have to move. Just start physically doing it, or else my brain will wanna stare blankly at a screen all day. Sometimes I have to mentally yell at myself, if I start and keep stopping, even. Pushing myself to move and get tasks done is really my main way of accomplishing things. Plus giving myself small rewards! Food based treats, or starting a new series, or going some place even close by that I enjoy. Some of my rewards are things some people might take for granted, but I try not to... lol

I dunno if this helps everyone, but it's all I know to suggest.

  • God the specialists I have to see have a year wait time.
    Fucking covid.

Know that feeling. I've managed to get a dentist appointment but they only had one slot available. If I didn't take it it was another three month wait.

And I dont care that its 10.30pm. Im having some cereal.

  • last time i went to a dentist (which was a few months ago) i was quoted $3-4k for the procedures i'll have to do on two of my teeth. @__@;

at that point i was like..... yeah i'd rather wait until i have insurance again cause going to the dentist w/o insurance isn't worth it haha.

    • Online now
I had a dentist put the x-ray thing into my throat. Instead of taking quickly taking the picture and removing it, she decided to go chat with her coworkers for what felt like 10 minutes. I have a terrible gag reflex, it was probably one of the most stressful things I had ever felt. Anything dentist related since then gives me severe anxiety.

  • This is a scary topic for me. I need to go to the dentist, I have a lot of pain rn. I bit into something too hard, and it cracked my tooth right at the back.

Dentists here were closed, or impossible to see anyway, throughout lockdown. Mine is back open now, but I'm still putting off making an appointment because of my head problems.

I haven't seen the dentist since before I got rushed to A&E last year, and the situation is absolutely terrifying me. I can't lie down properly, I can't look up, and I certainly can't tip my head back. I don't know what to do, and it's causing me a ridiculous amount of stress thinking about it.

I can't not go, but I can't go, if that makes sense.

I haven't been to the dentist in a few years now, since haven't had dental insurance ever since I had to get off of my parent's health insurance. Was fortunately able to get 3 of my wisdom teeth removed while I was still on my parent's health insurance though.

Is there a way they can accommodate you? Like a pillow or something?

Dentistry here isn't covered by the government and is ridiculously expensive. I have insurance and still needed to pay $110.

I'm not sure what they can do tbh. I once knew someone that had to get knocked for treatment, but that definitely wouldn't be an option for me even if it was available. Nobody is gonna give me an anesthetic unless absolutely necessary due to other medical conditions. I will just have to talk it through with them I guess.

It can be pretty expensive here too, even with the National Health Service, depending on what you do or don't qualify for. Still nowhere near as bad as a lot of countries though!

Would listening to music help? I know when I've had MRIs and CT Scans they've played music. Maybe ask?

I wish we had something like that because the provinces have wayyy to much autonomy and it's insane. The federal government needs to put regulations in place.

I had a CT scan once but I can't for the life of me put my arms above my head laying down.
