What fandoms do you want to/have write/written on besides Pokémon?

So far I've only written Pokemon fanfiction, but I'd love to write an Avatar fanfic about the next Avatar after Aang.

Hmm . . . I think my old ff.net account has a Star Wars fic or two on it . . . *bricked* But yeah, seriously. What else would I like to do? There are certain awful novels with excellent concepts that I'd like to rewrite completely; does that count?

But no. PokemonXMW is my OTP, I guess. After SiggyxJesh

    oic.

It really doesn't work/reflect well on the writer when they hold their next chapter "hostage" for reviews. Just keep posting and you'll get a review. We'll see that you're dedicated to your fic and will help you out.

What fandoms do you want to/have write/written on besides Pokémon?
Digimon, DragonLance (lulz), Spyro the Dragon, Sailor Moon, Samurai Pizza Cats, Speed Racer, and Super Secret Fandom.

:O Samurai Pizza Cats! :O I remember watching that as a kid... Oh man... that takes me back... I even remember watching when TMNT was still cool. I even recall a vestige of Astro Boy and Transformers.

I'm actually more inclined to try out a mass effect fic, though I imagine I might be dabbing in familiar territory of character beginnings...

Like how there are kids who were genetically modified, or something of that matter... Can't simply explain it in a few sentences anyway...

If I did do something like that though, I'd want to use the summer to do some research about the IP. However I might even be away this summer, at a job in Quebec.

All windows computers come with the software (for the disabled), all you need is a mic, and to calibrate the system, and you're good to go. You can even have it read back to you. XD

Atm, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha is the center of my masterpiece fan fic i'm too scared to even let out for betas yet. :P I've written FF fanfics, Beyblade, Digimon, Yugioh [don't ask you don't want to know], Gunslinger Girl, Rurouni Kenshin and Yu Yu Hakushou.

btw, someone growl at me and tell me to post my prolouge for my pokemon fanfic plox? I think four betas by me-myself-and-i and two by friends is enough. =3=

(And I won't update until I get a comment on it)
By comment do you mean someone going 'omfg i love it' along with some 'oohs' and 'ahhs' or a critical review of some sort? I understand wanting someone to notice it as nobody likes falling to page 0 with 5 views but being snooty and refusing to update until someone goes 'oooh' and 'ahhh' is a great way to make people not want to read.

It may not be personal too, it could just be that you don't have enough yet for people to want to take the time to write a real critical review. I mean, personally, I normally don't review unless you've got more than just a prolouge because I like knowing sorta what I'm dealing with. I like having a foundation to review on.

Now, BOLDED QUESTION for you all.

What's the longest or shortest your chapters have ever been? What makes them shorter or longer and how do you make it work?

Longest was chapter twenty-eight, coming in around 8000 words and shortest was chapter fourteen, at about 3000 words. Chapter lengths depends on what's happening in them, like chapters with lots of dialogue are shorter where ones with battles are longer.

My chapters back in the day were about three pages, but now they're averaging eight or nine. Ultimately, you just end up putting more into the chapter if it's too short, and split it into multiple chapters if it's too long.

Written entirely in my head, if that counts.

My longest chapter has to be the chapter that started really stupid wank thirty-one-and-counting! chapter I was writing for one of my Digimon fics. It was really long because there was so much stuff that needed to be included in it. I just didn't realize how much I had to write on it all.

Shortest was two pages. There was nothing else to add to it.

My chapters just tend to run whatever length they need to. Currently, my chapters are as low as four pages (for Super Secret Fandom) up to twenty-two (for my first Pokemon fic), and they're those lengths because they just are. At least with Pokemon, I try to make the chapter seem like an episode of the anime (written to equal one chapter). But generally, I just end the chapter where it feels right to end it.

Oh hey I'm alive big surprise to some of you maybe not so much to the others but yeah whatever let's just answer some questions and **** already!

What's the longest or shortest your chapters have ever been? What makes them shorter or longer and how do you make it work?
Longest has been around 23 or so pages. Can't remember the exact number and can't be bothered to look for it either. Shortest, at least among my modern selection of fics, is around 7. Average now is about 14 or 15, having shortened from 20 from back near the end of TFCv1.

I've noticed that my chapters tend to be quite a bit longer than most other people's and I can't really say why. One reason may be that it's partially inflated to an extent due to properly spaced out dialogue, or that I put more detail in than some others. Most likely though is that in those longer, 20+ page chapters I just put lots of stuff in, enough that other people would probably have split it into two chapters. We'll see how those same chapters turn out when I get to them this time around with my improved pacing...

What fandoms do you want to/have write/written on besides Pokémon?
By far all that I've done has been Pokemon-related except for this one time years ago when I attempted an Animorphs fic. It failed of course.

I would like to write fics based on other series if I could think up good plots, though. One that I would like would be EVE Online, which I actually have wrote a single unpublished one-shot for (I didn't include it above as it was just something I did one day when I was bored, has no plot, and has never seen the light of day anywhere). Another that I've become interested in lately is Mass Effect, unfortunately I have even less of an idea for that than I do for EVE. The problem there is the world is so large and open. The only part of it the games deal with is Shepard's exploits mostly, with just a tiny window into the everyday workings of things. The books help add to that though, but it's still not enough to really have much to build off of other than raw background concepts.

Perhaps the single strongest other series I want to write for and have attempted in the past is a little series known as Myst and its spin-off, Uru. Namely, I don't want to write a fic around those games so much as I do the entire D'ni lore that surrounds it (and which admittedly is what Uru is built on). Myst will always have a special place in my heart no matter what others may say about it; it's simply affected my life too much so naysayers be damned.

A Uru/Pokemon crossover was one of the three fics I toyed with back in the dawn of 2006, the other two being The Flamestar Chronicles and IMPULSE (which later became TRINITY). As such, it is my only "Golden Age" fic that hasn't either survived past that time or been revived. I've made several attempts at it, however each died due to a lack of focus in the story. My most recent attempts have shed the crossover idea and so are pure Uru fics, though, which has helped some in focusing it but not enough.

Scraped concepts include the original, where the Pokemon world is linked to our own world through a D'ni linking book. The plot never got far past that although I think it was going to go into the hero becoming a trainer only to encounter an evil time of people from his world and all. Pretty much, it would have ended up being too focused on the Pokemon side. Then there was one where the explorers in the D'ni cavern ended up dividing themselves into two sides, those who believed the D'ni remains should be untouched and those who thought they should be used for power. Guess which side was good. Anyway the concept was that a war would start between them complete with, well, weapons.

Once I realized that bringing guns into an Uru fic and having actual gunfights break out amid the D'ni ruins was practically sacrilege, that one died.

Then I tried a new concept with some evil force sweeping over the ages. This one was a bit disjointed. It started with an abandoned computer (with a satellite uplink!) sending a text message out to several people with the coordinates for the cavern. When those people got they they would then begin exploring like normal alongside those people already there, only to eventually run into said evil that I never worked out the specifics of. A girl named Hikari (hahaha yeah I think that just a temporary name that I never changed seeing as the concept died and al) that the main character finds in one of the ages would end up being the key to defeating the evil and all! Yeah, how generic! And disjointed. It died an honorable but ultimately humiliating death.

Since then my thoughts have shifted more to simply making, well, a no-plot fic. It would simply be about the main character going about exploring the cavern and ages, perhaps with mini-stories that would be encountered and solved within a single chapter. Perhaps the best equivalent to what I'm thinking of would be the manga/anime Mushishi, but with a bit more cohesion between parts and a set timeline. One nice feature about this is that I wouldn't feel pressured to get a chapter out.

Hmm, as I've been writing this some ideas have come to my mind. The whole comparison with Mushishi, I hadn't actually thought of that before. Now that I think about it though, it may be just the kind of structure I've always been looking for in how to make this work. Well, I'll get back to thinking about it more and see what comes of it.

Oh, and if this does come to fruition don't worry, I'll explain pretty thoroughly all the concept of D'ni in it, seeing as it would star a guy new to all this stuff himself. So, no previous knowledge of Myst/Uru/D'ni required!

Oh hey a long post who would've thought.

I only managed to finish one Naruto one shot and it's a very short one. XD I did another Naruto and it's a short story one, but the characters were becoming OOC, so I scraped it. >.> There also has been a few The Simpsons stories I did, but each one is poorly written as they're script fics. XD I want to do a couple Black Cat and Code Geass stories, but the ideas aren't fully developed yet.

What's the longest or shortest your chapters have ever been? What makes them shorter or longer and how do you make it work?
Shortest has to be the original Heart of the Sea's Chapter Three in four pages and longest the same story, but Chapter Five in thirty pages because The Grand Festival from the anime is featured. :x Pretty much the chapter depends the rise and fall of action, really. The chapters with a lot of action will tend to be longer or broken down to a couple chapters while chapters that don't have action tend to be shorter for a character development bit and such.

The last chapters for NE and Heart of the Sea dramatically became quite long though because of the big climaxes and then a (long) resolution at the end. I just feel the last part would be rushed if I just have everything resolved quickly and I do want the endings to tie in what the themes of the stories are, actually.

Oh, if we're counting those, I've written several dozen crossover self-insert Gary Stu fanfics that would make any real fanfiction author blanch. They never leave my head, though, although some of them get adapted into real stories, like Artificial.

What's the longest or shortest your chapters have ever been? What makes them shorter or longer and how do you make it work?
Weeeell, I try to average between 2000 and 3000 words a chapter. They don't usually get much longer than 3,500-ish. Shortest was about 1800. I try to be kinda consistent.

Heck, I want to find a DTB fanfic that focuses on Havoc during the Heaven's GAte war, and not another HeixYin pairing fanfic with a twist, but I've yet to find one.

You know what I did? I'm writing it...

Seriously, there's a saying that goes. If you want something done right, then do it yourself. This is friendly advice btw.

Darker than Black and Kino's Journey which I have yet to write, that's it so far...

Longest has got to be either Chapter 3 of TCNG or Reflection in the Storm. Shortest have to be my early forages into fanfiction which I scarcely remember.
