  • So since everyone's classes are ending and everyone now will be able to kick back and enjoy some free time, I was thinking what better way to kick off the summer than with a summer challenge?

So, I was basically going to do a Beach Challenge.
    1 Fish Pokemon
    1 Water/Flying Pokemon
    1 Pet Type Pokemon
    1 Pokemon that learns Ingrain
    1 Ground Type Pokemon
1 Pokemon that could resemble a human.

Something like that. I'll go more into detail in the actual challenge.

  • I have a question for you all.
What is your main game for challenges? I've seen like AoTora uses Leaf Green a lot, and I use Fire Red a lot.
    What about y'all?

I recently bought Diamond, partly because I'd never played it, and partly so that I would have a game to do challenges on. I also own LeafGreen, which I'll be doing challenges on as well, but I can't trade stuff over to that one :/ It's in post-game right now since I'm gathering stuff to send to HG.

I like to have a challenge going on every game I own, but I won't be starting over my White or SS versions anymore. White because sentimental reasons and SS because need to catch/breed stuff for breeding shinies on HG (it's a japanese SS cart). And there's no way I'm starting my HG over. I'm almost 300 hours deep trying to get that black Trainer Card, and all my breedxors are on it, too.

I also have a question, what is the largest amount of current challenges you've had at once?

The most I've had at once is eight, I think. I've got six going now, with two completed and two dropped. I'd like to keep my completed:dropped ratio pretty decent, but I'm really tempted to drop a couple of the ones I've got going right now just for peace of mind... We'll see, I guess.

In other news, I'm also stoked to see the Norse Mythology challenge! Once I finish up Diamond, I will quite possibly be taking that challenge.

I've started reading up on Native American folklore again, so that I can start working on a 'Mythology' challenge for that culture. Could certainly use help if anyone's interested; every tribe has some amount of unique "deities". Because of that, I'm thinking that taking the challenge will entail choosing a tribe, and then doing the challenge with that tribe's deities/myth-characters.

  • We have the power to edit our own thread titles now, guys!

I switched mine to The Monotype Challenge for now to see how I like it, since Ultimate sounds way too grandiose.
    aw I liked the Ultimate...

that aside I'm pretty sure that it's been possible to edit thread titles for a while - I changed my thread title from "Monocolor Challenge" to "Mono-Color Challenge" at least a couple months ago.

    And on that note, join the Mono-Color challenge guys! I need more posters so I can update ;-;

  • I would join the Mono-Color challenge but I already have 3 challenges going and it would be way too long to finish them if I got more challenges going xD

I'll have to finish at least one of them first :P

I actually thought about doing a summer challenge event in years past, but last year I got overloaded in work and made up for it with the raffle in the August challenge at the end of summer, haha.

As crazy as this sounds because I'm sure there will be a mod in here by this point, I do have something planned for next June. Not this June, I mean June 2015. If you can figure out why, don't spoil it, guys. ;)

Sorry I've been away for a while; my laptop broke and my desktop SUCKS. I figured I'd post another little update on my WoW challenge, as I recently finished all of the Alliance races (except for Pandaren, he goes at the end.)

    Spoiler:

Let me know what you think, please! ^_^

I would suggest making the two "high stat" traits be more than just above the average. 78 speed and 83 SpA isn't really very high - 90 or 95 and above for both seems like a reasonable level to me, and is high enough when playing the games normally (as opposed to competitive).

I must say that it is shaping up pretty well. I think it could be on par with Time Warp in terms of the viability of it due to the choices available - hopefully people will have fun with it.

Of course! You're free to make a summer themed challenge if you'd like. I don't really think I want an event now though, if that's what you mean. I've got plans for a July event so far.

Well, I was planning on maybe making my challenge last til August 1st or something, and having a raffle kind of for a shiny Pelipper or something if I can get someone to do that portion. I don't want it interfering with your challenge, though.

You're free to host that as a regular challenge if you'd like. And I only allow one event at a time anyway, haha. Two at the same time would be a mess, nor do I like having event after event. Also not a fan of April or May events because that's when most people are knee deep in school finals and graduation and such.

As for the raffle, if you run this as a regular challenge, you could have it as, say, those who finish between a certain time period will be entered for the raffle. Something like that.

Okay, I see. So, instead of having an ending event. Say. "If you complete this challenge by June 1st you can enter the raffle and have a chance to win a Shiny Wingull/Pelipper or whatever?

I think that could work, yes. It sure would drive people to your challenge. :P Also, I've only had two raffles before and I still have some stuff that I haven't given out. It can be difficult to get time zones right with people and be able to trade sometimes. I generally don't have that problem, but 11wildy can tell you how much of a pain it's been trying to trade. It's like aligning the planets. lol

Good point; many competitive players use 100 for the general average Speed stat, that much I know...

Thanks, it's good to know that people believe in me and are actually helping out. :D

  • Has there ever been a Mayan/Aztec mythology challenge? I'm thinking of incorporating South American legends into the Native American myths challenge. Perhaps I'll just title it "American Mythology Challenge." Not sure which sounds better.

Oh they had plenty of gods, yeah. I do feel like the Southern civilizations were quite different from the northern ones though. Not sure if they would mesh well. Worth looking into none the less.

Not sure about the meshing, don't know exactly how different the stories are. Regardless, I think I'll just keep it to North American mythology. It's more than enough material to base a challenge on. The South American myths should be a separate challenge.

I mainly wanted to include it in one challenge because there's so much interest in Aztec and Mayan culture; I'm pretty sure it'd draw people to the challenge. Can I reserve it or something? I just want one challenge, just one, that doesn't fail completely... -_-

  • Yep, I think that Aztec & Mayan challenge should be seperated from North American mythology :)

The challenge would be too clustered and already Mayan & Aztec mythology is already enough to make a challenge of their own and just adding more would be too much :P

@Feraligatr13 I like it so far, looking forward to the Horde and Pandaren races! One thing I'd suggest is changing the gemcutting rule for the Draeni, maybe the Pokemon could have a different requirement than the art thing?

& I really want to know what Jak has planned for June lol XD
