Welcome to Grand Idea Mafia!

A while ago I came across this thread on another forum called Grand Idea Mafia, I thought it would be fun to try! Consider this as an event or special game for fun here in the UG!

I'll explain how this works!

How this works:
The Grand Idea thread basically functions as a giant role list. For each player, I'll roll a random number through RNG. Each player will get the role listed in the post # in that thread that the rolled number corresponds to! The thread is full of regular/basic roles, but also has tons of made-up roles as well!

As an example, if I rolled a 2 for someone, they would get the role in post #2 from the Grand Idea thread, which would be a Mafia Goon! Who knows what other kinds of roles might be lurking in that thread...

Numbers will be rolled between 0 and 3493 (which is currently the last post in the thread as of the time I'm typing this up)

Some notes about this:
- There could end up being any number of factions/teams in the game, and any number of third party roles
- It is possible to roll vanilla (don't come in expecting to get some cool/crazy role! What you get is what you get!)
- There's no guarantee of the game being balanced
- The entire setup will be re-rolled if there's less than 50% town, or if any faction/team has a chance to reach endgame nearly immediately after gamestart
- There's a chance you could get a role that's useless/silly/annoying (but if you end up with something that's just really dumb I'll roll again for you, don't worry!)
- If anyone gets anything extremely overpowered or just completely broken, I'll probably re-roll for that too
- The game could have bastard elements due to certain roles, but the game itself won't be explicitly bastard unless someone gets a role that allows the GM to make it bastard

Other notes about the game in general:
- There won't really be any game flavor/story text
- The game will have Day start, meaning the game will start with Day 1 (this way everyone gets a chance to play at least for a little bit)
- The game will only start Night 0 if any role(s) are in the setup that cause the game to have a Night start
- Day 1 will last 72 hours, all other days will be 72 or 96 hours
- This game will use a majority lynch rule, meaning a lynch occurs if half the players alive plus one are voting for someone, ie. if 12 players are alive, it will take 7 votes to lynch someone. If the majority isn't reached by the end of the day, it will end in a No Lynch. If a player reaches the necessary number of votes at any point during the Day, the lynch will be considered "hammered" and the day will end as soon as a phase post is made, and any vote changes made after the "hammer" vote will be considered invalid. ie if 12 players are alive, it will take 7 votes to lynch, the lynch will be hammered as soon as someone places the 7th vote.
- Activity's been a little low lately, so I might have a "minimum number of posts each day phase" rule instead of a rule for missing votes

The game will have a cap of 18 players max. If you're interested, just let me know here that you are /in! If there is an extreme amount of interest, I'll host two separate games, but you can only join one unless there's trouble filling the second one (you can still be a replacement for the other game though). If there's any questions feel free to ask!

(Note: this thread will be for information and signups, but I'll probably use a new thread(s) for the game(s) instead of making this into a game thread, feels like it would make things a little easier. I'm also using this for an interest check to see if I'll definitely need to host two games which, let's face it, I probably will lol but ya never know)

Rules

1. All PokéCommunity and Underground rules apply!
2a. Remember, this is a game, so have fun! Discussion might get heated at times, but don't make things personal!
2b. Always play to your Win Condition!
3. If anything in your Role PM contradicts any rules listed here, always follow what your Role PM says.
4a. Day 1 will last 72 hours, all other Day phases will be either 72 or 96 hours.
4b. Night phases will always be 24 hours.
4c. Deadline extensions may be granted upon majority request.
5a. Always bold your votes! Example: [Vote] Player
5b. Votes can be changed at any time, as many times as you want. Using [UNVOTE] is not required when changing votes, unless you are simply reverting to "not currently voting" status. [Vote] No Lynch is always a valid option. (More on voting mechanics below)
6. All game discussion should be kept in this thread and respective private chats.
7. Do not quote your Role PM (or any information discussed privately) directly. You must paraphrase! Additionally, screenshots of any Role PMs and such are not allowed.
8. Posting during the Night Phase is not allowed!
9. All Night Actions should be sent to me via PM or Discord! If you are abstaining from using a night action, you should still let me know!
10. If you are lynched or killed, you are dead, don't haunt the thread with your posts! You will be allowed one deadpost, but it can't contain any game related information.
11. If you're going to be busy/unavailable for an extended period, please let me know!

Voting
- A majority vote is required for a lynch (majority is half the players alive +1). For example, with 13 players alive it would take 7 votes to lynch.
- If a majority is reached at any point during the Day, the lynch is considered "hammered" and the game will enter Dusk/Twilight during which players can still post/discuss until I'm able to end the phase.
- If a majority is not reached by the end of the Day, the Day will end in a No Lynch.

Activity
- Everyone is required to post a minimum of 4 posts each Day phase (this number may fluctuate as the game goes on)
- Posts that contain just a vote will not count toward the minimum, and posts that contain no game related content may not count
- Going a full 48 hours without posting may result in a prod for inactivity
- Failure to follow activity rules or getting more than two prods may result in replacement without warning, please be careful!

Game Specific
- There's no guarantee of the game being balanced
- The setup will be run as long as there is a majority of town and at least one player with an anti-town faction/role
- There could end up being any number of factions/teams in the game, and any number of third party roles
- You may ask me about how I might interpret any specific role and I will provide an example Role PM
