  • So, what do you think? Should I wait until next week to start the next round of my haiku contest or start it today? I don't want to overshadow your contest by starting mine the day after yours began.
    Go to bed! D=

You're doing just fine overall. =) And nobody can check PMs without forum add-ons because that's how vB is set up. So if one wants to check for abusive PMs or whatnot they need to be reported.
Your call after all. Hopefully the turn out is good! Btw you can always try editing the forum splash if you can about it, and even consider making a blog entry to advertise it. And your signature! ;p At least, that's stuff I've tried in the past, so just letting you know of those methods.

Also glanced at VMs again. =p Don't worry about the 1000 word thing. Being a mod includes trying different things and not all of them will turn out great. Just gotta learn from them is all, haha. (And besides, there's no one way to moderate). And now I wanna hear story time too
Maybe :P Though I'm thinking of using the name for a manga I'm making. The concept of the character interests me beyond Pokemon, too. Why not recycle it?
Hum, interesting. Tbh, I don't feel not celebrating means you cannot write a short story about it, but that's me.
    Oh gosh you can't do this to me! ;w;

I'm sincerely flattered, really. I love Art & Design and I love my position as a moderator there; and my love for art is something I wouldn't trade for the world. It's why I try to go above and beyond when I critique someone's work and try to do so fairly and equally throughout every gallery. Art is something that is so uniquely within the artist, and each piece needs -or at the very least deserves- to be looked at with, not only a critical eye, but an empathetic one as well. I feel that's the only reason I can do what I do.

But, it's not just my art that keeps me working towards a brighter future for A&D, it's the members and the happiness posting there can bring them; things similar to what you said to me. I always wanted A&D to feel like a really comfy chair with a cup holder for your hot chocolate, you know? Somewhere where it's safe to be lax and safe to be introspective and contemplative! Somewhere that's fun, but totally at one's own pace.

All that said, I cannot totally credit myself, as the template for A&D was built upon some of the greatest moderators ever; Gavin and Derozio. All I did was carry out their plans for a thriving A&D and injecting some of my own personality into it. Nevertheless, I'm still so, so grateful for your kindness and consideration. It's not often that people really express how they feel.

I do think FF&W can be everything you want it to be. The best part is, that mentality alone is the first step and will generate nothing but good things. So don't feel like you need to rush in headstrong and remedy everything. Just keep being you and you're going to do great! In fact, I know I'm speaking for many others when I say that you already are doing great. :)

OKAYOKAY that's enough of my ranting. Thank you so much. <3 I really do appreciate it.
Story time will have to wait until Tuesday! As I said, it's a long story.

As for the name, I'm not sure if changing it will help the problem with people posting other writing in the section. Since this is a Pokemon forum, it's always going to be a little skewed in favor of Pokemon writing.

If you're looking for an answer as to whether I mind all the changes and everything, a reason why I step back and let you tend to run things on your own will be explained in story time. Just know that if I really had an opinion on something that you're doing, I'd definitely let you know! Especially now that I know you'd be okay with me stepping in like that on decisions.
Yep, that sums it up pretty much. I don't think I ever really got my house the way I wanted it... Actually, I go so far as to say that this game encourages you to become a hoarder. :P
Yeah, AC is a good game to kill time. Unless you're willing to spend two or three months playing it, I wouldn't recommend it. Like I said, once you start playing it, you won't want to stop. It derogatorally brainwashes you in continuously playing it (in a polite way, though). It's not the kind of game that forces you to play, even when you're done with the major stuff. However, Isabelle (your assistant) will kind of scold you if you don't play for a week or longer.
Hey, uh... If you'd like, I can tell you a story about FF&W's past that might make you feel better as a moderator and give you an idea of what's been attempted before. It's long and filled with drama, though, so I wasn't sure if you'd be interested.
I probably will eventually. And, OMG, you have no idea how addicting it is. Once you start it, it's your second life. You can't go without playing a single day until you run out of stuff to really do, and even then you are not done. That game really has no end to it!
Yeah, multiplayer games aren't my forte. The only good one I played other than Pokemon X lately was Animal Crossing-New Leaf (and that game is all chores, literally)! Skyrim sounds awesome; I may try it someday.
Sounds like World of Warcraft! :P Just teasing. I usually play games akin to that, but generally they're just one-player and Nintendo games. I never really got into multiplayer games a whole lot outside of Pokemon (speaking of which, I've found myself terribly addicted to Wonder Trade and Battle Spot in my Pokemon X game. I don't always win in Random Matchup, but it's fun to see how well I do against other people I've never met or talked with period).

It sounds like Etrian Odyssey IV kind of follows the same premise as Skyrim. You assume the role of an explorer and start your own guild. You have the option of selecting your own characters from a diverse group of classes (some of which are different races completely). You can do minor customization like changing characters' clothing, skin, and hair color as well as naming characters whatever you want, but the only significant thing you can manipulate is what skills characters learn (that in there makes the game rather difficult since you can only teach so many skills at a time, and it gets consistently harder to decide what ones you need). I mostly form well rounded parties of attackers, healers, and mages and try to keep their skills useful for in-the-field. As you explore places, the threat level increases drastically and you need to develop better skills every time your characters level-up. It actually makes the game very hard, even on Casual mode (which is the game's version of Easy. Normal mode for this game, though, is actually very difficult). I'm actually stuck on the third main dungeon in the game since it makes it so that you can only use a certain disposible item to progress, and the item doesn't regenerate immediately. >.>
Well, Pokemon Conquest is good. If possible, buy it online. It was completely sold out the first time I went to get it (about a week after it was released), and it wasn't really available for most of last year. My parents lucked out and happened to snag me a copy last Christmas (the only issue being that I missed out on getting the extra downloadable missions for the game, since they stopped the online distribution by then). It is a very good game. The main story is fairly simple, but the post-game can get really intense and addictive. It's got over two-hundred hours of gameplay, though I personally spent three-hundred on it total trying to complete everything I could. The hardest part is evolving Pokemon since Pokemon don't level-up like in the regular games (instead it works on a bonding system, where your trainer/Warrior has to form increase the link/bond with his Pokemon. As the bond increases, the Pokemon's stats do too, and a lot of the time that's what determines when they'll evolve).

When it comes to other games, I'm mostly a Nintendo fanatic (Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong). However, I've kind of been drifting from the platformers and adventure games I used to enjoy, and have been finding myself increasingly addicted to niche/side titles that I only scantly knew about before. I just recently found out about Fire Emblem and Etrian Odyssey, and I'm kind of regretting it. They turned out to be really good RPGs and I had no idea they existed, and I used to be a big FF fan on the SNES as well as a Golden Sun nut in the GBA days.

Coincidentally, I have heard that Skyrim was supposed to be good, but I've never really tried it. What's it about?
Eh, don't feel to bad. Sometimes I do that and don't realize I did it until after the fact.

Anywho, that's roughly why I started writing Feral Twilight, to get a feel of what a slightly grown-up version of Pokemon would be like. Mmm...but you say you haven't played any side-titles...not even recently? You probably missed out an exceptionally good one called Pokemon Conquest. It's kind of generic (in terms of the storyline and characters), but it's really strategy-intensive and brings a whole different perspective to what Pokemon games could be like if Game Freak modified the battle system to more of a (and I use the term loosely) chess-like format. Coincidentally, I liked that game so much, I looked into getting more strategy-based games for my 3DS this year (and I'm otherwise not a fan of strategy games). I found really good non-Pokemon titles like Fire Emblem-Awakening and Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan.
