[PokeCommunity.com] Favorite Pokémon Tournament 2014 - Steel

Welcome to the second annual Favorite Pokémon Tournament here in the Pokémon Polls board, where our goal is to determine the favorite Pokémon of the users here at the PokéCommunity! This will be a tournament that lasts several months, where we'll pit almost all the Pokémon from different types together to determine a winner. After we know the winner of each type, we'll add all of those Pokémon to a final poll, where the winner(s) will be crowned champion, and be known as PokéCommunity's favorite Pokémon!

If you haven't had the opportunity, please read the Rules/FAQ to find out more about the tournament:

Spoiler:

NOTE: Because of the number of Steel-type Pokémon and the limited number of poll spaces, not all eligible Pokémon could be included. If you want to vote for an unlisted Steel-type, check the "Other Pokémon" option represented by a (?), and leave a post with your vote.

Now that you know what the tournament is all about, what are you waiting for? Polls will remain open until September 13th, so get voting!

There are three unlisted Steel type Pokemon that I love. Those are Empoleon, Escavalier, and Durant.

Also, I voted for the Aron, Beldum, and Ferroseed lines just because I love their respective final forms.

Obviously Metagross is my first vote. Beldum was okay, but that training was not in vain. Never fear, Meteor Mash is here! As a Steel Psychic type, it barely had any weaknesses. My fire powers could beat him. ;) But ever since Kalos gave back two weaknesses to Metagross, it hasn't been the same. Oh well.

Steel types are certainly not my favourite and I'm not really partial to any of these. I voted for Jirachi though as it is the cutest option.

My votes went to Metagross, Skarmory, Jirachi, Lucario, Aegislash, and Other. Metagross and Skarmory because those 2 are great in battle. Jirachi because that was the very first legitimate event Pokemon I ever got (and dat paraflinch). And I know that Lucario is considered to be overrated but I don't care because I liked how that one in X/Y wanted to be with you. Aegislash because it's a sword and that's cool and it also checks Geomancy Xerneas pretty well.

When I selected "Other", what i had in mind was Heatran, since Fire/Steel is a great typing and it's the only Steel type that's immune to Fire.

Tch, I forgot to tick Lucario's box. ;_;

Here's the Steel-types that make my favourites list: Magnemite's line, Skarmory, Jirachi, Lucario, Excadrill and Klefki.

Magnemite and Magneton are really nostalgic and bring back fond memories; Skarmory is a superb teammate; Jirachi is just shear cuteness; Lucario will always be cool; Excadrill because he's a bad-ass and Klefki because it's adorable design really attracts me, and it won me over as soon as it was revealed. ^ ^

Here's who I voted for:

Magnemite line - One of the classics, fairly good Defense and Sp. Attack and has a good number of resistances with its unique Electric/Steel combination.

Jirachi - One of the cutest Steel-types out there. It's such an amazing hax god as well with that dreaded Serene Grace ability.

Lucario - A fan favorite of many, it's a powerful attacker with a good movepool.

Honedge line - Steel/Ghost typing is good both offensively and defensively, and it can run lots of sets which makes it a huge competitive threat. No wonder Aegislash became an Uber.

Mawile - I mainly liked its Mega's design, even if people think it should have been a normal evolution instead. The Steel/Fairy typing really benefitted this once-overlooked 3rd Gen Pokemon, to the point it became really threatening.

Klefki - The other Steel/Fairy in the poll, albeit more of a supporter thanks to Prankster. It really loves running the infamous SwagPlay sets, to hit foes hard. It's also got fairly balanced stats all around which is nice.

Excadrill - I love this mole, because it's strong and I also have a shiny one of my own in Black. I always love using it when I play through any 5th Gen games, due to its sheer power. No wonder people find Clay such a challenge.

Pawniard line - 6th Gen really gave these blade-bodied soldiers the competitive recognition they needed. They have high Attack and can be very powerful if you manage to trigger an Attack boost from Defiant. I like the theme with their names as well, it's pretty cool.

I know my vote is almost useless because it has absolutely no chance but oh well. I cast in "other" because my favourite Steel Type is Probopass. I love Probopass so much. I think it might be my second favourite Pokémon of all time. It's many peoples' most hated Pokémon of all time, too, so it can be a little discouraging to like sometimes. :( I'll just love it enough to make up for all the haters. I think its design is so over the top hilarious. I love the poofy mustache, I love the hat, I love the mini-noses, I love the fact that it just floats??? Probopass is amazing. I've also really loved every single Nosepass/Probopass that I've trained in the games. They are a joy to have on my team.

In all honesty am not a big Steel type fan, I find it a bit dull but picked Mawile and Ferrothorn as they are key components of my X competitive team. Mawile is one of my favorite pokemon, but I only really focus on its Fairy typing and Mega form, and don't make much use of its steel type.

I'm not a big fan of Steel-types myself, hardly ever use 'em. But there is one that's almost always in my party ever since he came out.. and that's adorable little Aggron.<3
Sshh, no, not Aron. It's definitely Aggron that's cute. :3

I don't even remember what else I picked, but that's beside the point. The only Steel-type I use is Aggron, haha.

Sticking with choosing 5 pokemon each poll. This one was much easier than fire, since I don't love any of the pokemon I didn't vote for by any means.

Scizor
[PokeCommunity.com] Favorite Pokémon Tournament 2014 - Steel

I love the red colored metal coat on scyther, my favorite gen 1 bug. What more can I say, this pokemon is a total BA. I love it's sleek and stealthy shape.

Mawile
[PokeCommunity.com] Favorite Pokémon Tournament 2014 - Steel

Okay, so I went a good 2-3 years after purchasing Ruby back in 2003 thinking that Mawile was this big old plant pokemon with a bulb head (with an eye) that attached to it's plant mouth. But, one day I was like I need a HM slave, so I caught a Mawile to see if it learned the move. Then I discovered the backsprite! It all makes sense now! This ugly plant creature was actually very cute. Mawile wins for being memorable and having an excellent design!

Aggron
[PokeCommunity.com] Favorite Pokémon Tournament 2014 - Steel

Aggron, barring it's awful mega evolution, is an interesting design. I mean who wouldn't love a triceratops with that with steel horns and armor? To me, Aggron is the quintessential steel type pokemon, perfect. Should probably win this poll.

Jirachi
[PokeCommunity.com] Favorite Pokémon Tournament 2014 - Steel

Such a playful use of steel-typing. It's interesting since meteors (wishing stars) are composed mainly metals. I love the star on its head along with the attached blue tassels and yellow cape.

Bastiodon
[PokeCommunity.com] Favorite Pokémon Tournament 2014 - Steel

Relatively unappreciated pokemon with an out-there design that I love. I mean, it's head is in the formation of a castle/fortress wall with the medieval style window as yellow accents. And Shieldon just works well with the defensive medieval concept as well.

wait you can pick more then one crap i just picked dialga because i couldn't pick from the legends and it was the most epic (who doesn't love the power to control time)

For my steel picks, I picked based on who I've used and liked throughout the Pokemon universe.. in this case its Jirachi based on the movie, cuteness, and overall usability in many situations.

I also picked Lucario.. for obvious reasons.

I voted for the Aron-Lairon-Aggron line, as well as Scizor.

I always liked Scyther, and so when I found out way back when that he evolved, I was ecstatic. No particular reason why I like Scizor, just really fast/really strong.

I went for Metagross, Scizor, and the Aegislash line, because they all have superb designs... but why did I miss Lucario!?

Once again just two votes:Metagross and Bisharp.

My choices are Skarmory, Mawile, Metagross, Jirachi, Empoleon, Lucario and Cobalion.

Skarmory - I fell in love with it when I first found one at Route 113 in Hoenn. It's a really cool-looking bird.
Mawile - It took me time to actually like the thing, what with me only having Pokemon Sapphire and I had no way to see Mawile from a different perspective than the jaws. After looking at a ton of fan art as well as using one in a playthrough, it turned out to be so cute~
Metagross - Cool-looking and powerful, I can't say more. Aside from the fact that I'm scared to face Steven again in ORAS...
Jirachi - It's just so cute~ Too bad it's kind of rare...
Empoleon - This I had to vote "Other" for it. It's a cool penguin, and it used to be my favorite starter (and then Serperior came along, but that's a different story), although the steel half is still questionable to me.
Lucario - It's cool, and it's powerful. Also, the Aura-manipulation part is really interesting to me.
Cobalion - Um... It's cool? I dunno, I just really like it.

I should stop using the word 'cool'.
