Question Of The Day #26: How much weight do you feel you have when it comes to PC matters?

While staff has control over the coding of features on PokeCommunity, the site holds a place in which users may recommend new features and implementations. At the same time, PokeCommunity allows users to report posts that contradict the rules of the site in order to keep things civil. With a simple click, reported posts are sent to a control panel in which staff can view and act swiftly upon...or admittedly, at a later point in time.

How much weight do you, as the community or as an individual, feel you have when it comes to the advancement of the site? Do you believe that your voice is heard, or do you believe that it falls on deaf ears? How proactivce are you when it comes to finding an issue and presenting it to the public? Do you report posts and/or issues when they arise, or do you let others take the initiative? Do you think the current report system is sufficient in terms of being useful?

Feel free to discuss all entities of this topic below.

I think my voice is heard enough. I mean, I don't really frequent in trying to change PC unless I feel something needs to be fixed or worked on. Such as the photo albums thing. I do try to voice my opinions as much as I possibly can when needed as well, but I usually don't have much I can say or contribute to either. I usually don't report posts because most likely, someone already has by the time I go to report said post. So, I usually let someone else do it.

Do you think there's anything else that needs to be improved on? Or do you have any other suggestions you'd like to make? The one you made before was pretty good!

Not at the moment, no. I'm actually surprised that the photo thing got attention. I don't usually know how to make PC any better, really. hehe

For what I actually input on (which isn't much) my voice is pretty much heard. I am a pretty vanilla user, I don't try to break the system, I don't go out of my way to find things that are faulty. I've been using the same Stunfisk'd skin since I first started posting here. And I don't really report things when I see it because it's either something that I'm certain mods would notice right away when they get into the section, or I get there so late that I'm sure there's already been 50 other reports of the post/thread. And I'm sure that the report system is useful, I just don't remember ever having actually used it.

I don't think I'm much listened to by anyone that can implement significant change. I always have all kinds of conversations with everyone about PC and what we can do and how it can grow and change and be better as a community, but when it comes to bringing it all up in an official capacity I don't feel like my opinions are taken into account, and I'm relatively sure that has to do entirely with how staff views me as a person rather than the legitimacy of my concerns.

I'm a member who likes to get heard, and when given the opportunity I always shared my insights on how the community was performing and what would be good for the forum.

I also report rule-breakers when given the chance, because staff may not be able to catch everything upon first sight which is why the report system exists, because it allows those even outside of staff to be able to play a part in helping the mods do their work.

I felt like that since I became a supporter, it has made me want to contribute more to the community as a whole, and it's turned out the way I was exactly hoping for.

    =(

My suggestions aren't that carefully placed and I'm not really listened to anyway. I hardly report things at all which probably isn't helping my case in the long run... yeah. I'm old, a giant donator, thousands of posts, active af - everyone likes to thing this archetype holds weight and I can't flick shit with my finger and it move.

I like to think my ideas are stellar, and they are when I implement them or suggest them in a capacity that holds at least an ounce of confidence

i'd say my voice on PC isn't a very big one at all-- but then again no one listens to a halfwit. :B

and sure, i report when i see things. as far as how useful the report system is.. i wouldn't know, but i imagine if it was useless it wouldn't be a presently used system.

Less than I'd like to think. I do think people are more inclined to take me seriously as an 'established' member or somesuch, due to the way human social psychology is, but only by a little. I'd like to be able to place an Hstaff level of input and really help with improving or just generally running this place, but I find it very draining not to get immediate results for any efforts I've made to the extent that I can, so that effort is now rare, after never having been especially common anyway. It's the same matter with reports. I see few reportable posts anyway, but almost anything that's not "this belongs in a different section" comes to nought.

So, how much weight do I have, after seven years? Is that a serious question? None. Of course!

You tell me, moderator. Do you think it is? I can only presume so, as no changes to the system (that would be visible to me) have ever come about.

What have been some things that you've suggested that you feel has flown over everyone's heads?
