Chit-Chat: a good ol' fashioned DCC!

I'm in the Maritimes, so about 4-5 storms a year.

It was raining today and I spent an hour walking store to store to get fuel injector cleaner.

Rain sounds nice. Being out in it for an hour, not so much. I don't even bring umbrellas when I go out in the rain (which may not be wisest) but hey. Hope you're doing well and staying dry.

I need to learn how to cook. Only know very basic things such as the above instant noodles, spaghetti, boiled eggs, rice, etc.

Those things aren't so novice. I have met many cooks who cannot cook rice correctly. Most types of rice require different ratios of water to grain, rinsing the right amount of startch from the rice, fluffing and setting to rest at the right time for the correct bite. With pasta you also need a certain amount of salt per water and water for pasta, finishing with oil so nothing sticks, don't sell yourself short! I've seen cooks get destroyed for cooking their pasta incorrectly (and they are paid professionals), everything has finess and can be improved!

yeah true. but i think it goes for every food (to a degree) that it may be easy to cook, but it's difficult to cook well.

i don't measure at all when cooking rice (just eyeball that the water level's good enough) and it pretty much just ends up ok for me to eat. no added anything, just pure white rice, to go with viands. it's best when it's still new and hot.

Yo Yo Yo it's ya girl RedBalloon. Guess what folks....I might join the school mini-choir. My audition is Tuesday. HYPE!

Tomorrow, I look up vocal techniques online oh yes. I'm too hyper to concentrate today. :D

best of luck! from personal experience, choirs are awesome places to make lots of friends and build team work skills.

if you're looking for some tips, inhale through your belly instead of straight to your chest (breathe in in a way that your shoulders don't move), and always make sure to keep the jaw relaxed open and tongue pushed outward instead of inward. that's what got me through 4 years of choral singing :p

I've always loved the idea of getting actual techniques or training on singing, since I feel like I'd enjoy it but also feel I'm pretty bad at it. I'm curious how it goes for you or any details.~

well there's different techniques to achieve different styles (some more harmful than the others), but the ones i posted above could apply as a general rule of thumb. proper breathing technique and getting strength from the diaphragm helps you hold notes more solidly and much longer. and they're great for belting out ballads! think Whitney Houston.

and i truly believe that anyone can become a good singer if just trained right and given the proper style for their vocal quality, timbre, and range. just like guitars and pianos, the voice is an instrument, and using it for singing is a skill that can be taught. it's just that seeing/experiencing people be "naturally gifted" with good vocal quality and strong relative pitch has become so much more common nowadays that it discourages others from even trying. life's unfair like that, sure, but it don't mean you can't ever reach those levels! you'll just need a little bit more time and training.

I definitely agree and I'm glad I've been thinking that since I considered trying to sing more. I used to think I just wasn't gifted at singing but then I learned about people having different techniques or training to sing and it's been a lot better to think about. I'll look into it more whenever I'm feeling like going for it and I'll keep in mind what you've said, thanks!

uh oh, car problems?

Yeah, she has trouble starting in cooler temperatures.
I suspect it's because the gas station we visit waters their gas down, thus it freezes, yet my mom still demands we go there. There's another right up the street, it's silly.

Yeah, so I auditioned for the mini-choir at 3:15pm my time today. It was nice seeing some people I normally never see. I think I sang a little too loud. After the audition, I realized I was only doing it because I was BORED! No seriously, I got like severe flashbacks of when I was previously in it. Such bad flashbacks that...traumatizing....bad stuff...GAH!

You know how I switched from the choir nerd to the band nerd right? Then the band went ka-poot via the pandemic right? I looked up the old band director on facebook and GREAT SCOTT I was right, he did want a second kid. According to his facebook, he's having a boy in May 2021. Besides the point, then I scrolled down and it literally said "left *insert my school name here*" like last June. So uh.....that happened.

My life sucks. It's a confusing mess. And i'm EMO again so...huzzah.....
