A Nice Little Note for All of PC to Read... (Long Post)

Yeah, Kayleigh's right. Why would I have a problem with the role-playing forums? ^_^; I'm talking about how everywhere you look, people seem to be using asterisks (*) to show actions... and these take up almost all the post and have little to nothing to do with the topic. =\ These are the things that bother me, not role-playing in the role-playing forums.

Yeah. Generally I'll just give up reading a thread after 3 or 4 of the replies have been nothing but pure roleplay. I guess it's alright in moderation. I just don't fancy scrawling through it all to find the original point that the thread may have once had.

It?s part of why I?ve really kinda shunned away the DCC. Don?t get me wrong, you guys are great?but roleplay, as is already makes me very uncomfortable due to an insecurity I?m sure you don?t care to hear. ^_^;

At the same time though, it?s hard to crack down on ?cause it?s not like they?re directly breaking a rule. It?s just?them getting too caught up in their own little world. X_x; If the roleplay that was occurring had potential, it?d be great if they then shifted it into a scenario in a RP thread. ?cause after four of five posts even the role play doesn?t resemble the topic. As I mentioned, what action to take? Hopefully we?ll all take this topic to heart and try to improve, but it?s not a magical topic, even if its creator?s pretty remarkable (;p)

Perhaps, as I?ve pushed for before, squeezing in a few political topics might aid the case. I don?t mean ?Ten reasons why Bush sucks? or ?Why everyone who says there?s no WoMD is wrong? but smaller things. Learning to take a flame and turn the other cheek would help too. In the past people were just too touchy, they?d have their own personal fight with someone if they so much as disagreed with them.

Yes, Pokemon T&G has more quality since you have to tell why and stuff, but some games doesn't have that quality and these trivia games like this is almost the ones in Pokemon Land. ^_^ Postcounts should not count in Pokemon T&G because it's susposed to be the same concept of Pokemon Land. Have fun without worring about your postcount. >_>
In reality, both of them has no quality. Most Pokemon T&G are so darn obvious... they're either "what's Pikachu's type" or "earthquake, explosion, night shade, earthquake (repeat) (post +4)". Some T&G are good, but most are not unless it changed from the last month. At the same time, some threads in Pokeland can be just as meaningful... I remember I hosted the Member guessing game before and i was so fun until i ran out of questions XD As you see both threads are relative the SAME in quality. So both of them should have no counts, or both of them have post counts. Should be more consistent...

Well, people should respect their options. If they are bothered by something and find it offensive. They should tell the staff. Not flame a another member. It's just not a very nice thing to do. We are here to have fun, not having a flame war. o_O
Even though I'm not here that time, I believe our most "beloved" staff members started that flame war themselves. Proves how "talk to moderators" are not the way to do it, but just anyone you trust. Just because they're moderators, that doesn't make them super sensitive and can "always help you." Not that they're "too stupid to help", but it just bugs me how everyone says "need help? ask the staff" but not the members. Staffs are not almighty, and members aren't useless. Just want to say that... members can help too. PC staff members seem to have the idea drilled into their head that a member should ALWAYS come to a staff member in times of trouble but that shouldn't be the case. You can simply ask anyone... not that there's a problem with asking staffs, but it annoys me how members are close to never mentioned as a solution to some problems.

I'm very sure everyone will find something offensive even in the "not flammable" topics. Sometimes in DCC in the past I do see some stuff that's quite offensive to me. But then it's about how you handle the offense. Just shrug it off, or don't post yet until the anger subsides a bit first. No need to retaliate. If you do want to argue, do it in a polite manner.

There is no reason to close this thread...or for anyone to get banned here...

Haruka did you actually ASK SA to have frosty banned...why are you a mod? I have no idea what forces of nature keep you being modded...!!!?!?!

Honestly, I think frosty is completely right...I haven't been very active on PC, but I know when this is geting screwed up...Alyssa, it's a sad stage in life when you care more about how online people treat you as a FEAR factor than as a friendly thing...

Hmm...this gripes about staying on PC at all anymore...does anyone ELSE have anymore feedback?

bah!

Alyssa, it's a sad stage in life when you care more about how online people treat you as a FEAR factor than as a friendly thing...

Fear Factor????? I am not insane, but If I had that much fear, then I would be basicly be afraid of everyone...

This is not what I want to happen. I want to to have fun and don't worry about it. ;)

I got some feedback, how about people quit doing stupid little posts and actually spend some time thinking up something that makes youu interested in reading it? I mean, some people are like this: "Lol, that's so cool, I totally agree man!!!!111. Oh lookie, +1 on that number." Come on people, get some maturity, and common sense at that

If it makes anyone feel better, nothing much offends me anymore :D. Thanks to Maddox's site, I am almost totally de-sensitized. I just get pessy when someone says that my ideas are stupid (like in this one creation-evolution thread WAAAAY back). On TPM, they have politcal/religious/sexual topics ALL the time, and when one scrolls through it, it really is a never-ending war and spreads out for over a dozen pages. So my philosophy is: why bother?

Well, I don't know. Posts made short are just fine to me. I try to put a little ...love... my posts, it's not working. :P Good thing it isn't..............

What you say determines how people think of you. If your posts obviously have no thought be hind them, people will think you have no originality, and thus, you're just a drifter who goes along with the popular people...

ugh

Yes, thank you Dakota! I see it as this: A lot of people make tiny little posts, most of the time some idiotic roleplay in a place where it doesn't belong at all. Or, they just make small little posts with hardly any thinking behind it. Thus, I see them as brain-dead in some sense or another. I was guilty of it at some point, I admit it, but hey, at least I put thought into my posts now, not some stupid little reply that I will just skip either way =/

~DragonTrainer:dragonite

Example: HEY DT WOOT THAT WAS SO FREEKIN FUNNY LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111111111oneoneoneoneone LOOK AT ME IM SPAZZIN OUT

Or

I really dont like you. *Sigh*

Or

HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

If you want to be recognized, you have to do something worthy of being recognized. As long as you always put effort and thought into your post, we will never have problems such as this......not to mention stay on-topic. We should actually PM anyone who is constantly making their posts unnecessary. It's easier to talk to them that way!

Eu gosta do PC, but, nimgem gosta de Eu... :(... See I put thought into that one.

Well, to be truthful in all ways possible, if I were to attemp that, I would have a lot of PM's going around, because most people that post either put no thought into their post and did a pathetic little post, or just said something completely irrelevant to the subject, such as roleplaying or anything like that.

~DragonTrainer:dragonite

People always do that DT, you know that, even if you ask them to stop, it'll always be about the posts... There conceited with the post-count and stubborn not to listen to anyone.

Which is why PC is in such a pathetic state. It's why we can't have any mature topics at all. Well, they're not going to change anytime soon, and so I'm ok with that. Just note to people who make small little posts all the time, I overlook all of your posts, mainly because I feel that you can't make a good post with just one line or two. You have to make a thorough post, something that people enjoy reading ;)

First of all, just because i'm starting a new thread, that doesn't mean I'm coming back to PC to post everyday... Just that I can't stand to see PC in such a mess according to the views of others through Instant Messages. There are so many things to address to PC that it's not even funny. I heard many people's opinion through IM, but didn't hear any of them doing anything about them. So I might as well be the evil man (and the rebel) and risk a ban that i don't really care about.

~~~
Firstly, the staff members have an important role to play in PC. They act as role models for PC members to follow. They maintain orders within PC, and improve PC so that PC will be even better. Some mods are more casual, some mods are "mod-bots." That doesn't matter as that's their modding style. However, the problem is...
The first staff on my hist list: Alyssa/Haruka/whatever stupid name you have now, here's something for you-
As a mod and a devoted member who has been on PC for a long time, please for once stick with the rules that you created with your staff members... It's just so sick and tiring of you to constantly change your names. Last time it's decided how no one will change name unless you're starting a new account. So why don't YOU follow that as well? Arcanine tried to point that out to you last time, but that thick skull of yours dodged it. Well face fact... you keep complaining how some members need to act with a lot more respect towards mods. Guess what... you don't gain respect through status. You earn it through your actions. And following the rules maybe one good starting point for you? Same for any other mods who are constantly changing names too.
Another good start for you is to stop saying irrelevant posts that is pretty much summed up to "yeah s/he is right oh dear my post count +1!" Like how last time you quoted SA's annoucement and pretty much said "yeah listen to him"... well duh? Please... just to be straight to the point but blunt: act up now or be crushed. You finally earned that mod spot you so wanted, so let's do a good job of keeping it. *ALL* the other mods and even some members tried to warn you before, but after 2 weeks you forget everything they say. I dont' care what you do on your own vb board, but PC is PC, and it's not your place.
This has to be pretty... "ouch" but sadly, I think it's true. =/ I dislike the changing name problem, it makes it confusing to keep track of who is who. Second, I believe that a name is something to be treasured. Keep it. =3 (No offence)
Regarding Pokemon Trivia and Games/Pokeland, and Post Counts:
So before I got on today... I was chatting with some PC members. And when I mentioned Pokeland, the response was "What's that?"
Obviously Post Count doing its trick again... Pokeland is the subforum within Other Chat that has no post counts. For all the older members in PC, we all remember the "the one above" and alike threads. They were extremely popular back then, earning up to perhaps even 100 post a day within that thread alone in the past. Now...? Emm... 5 post max a day?
There is that post count discussion within OC... yes i know about it. There are both pros and cons regarding it too. But let's be consistent... If part of PC has no post count, then the no post count section will be forgotton. You must admit that there will be *some people* who post to get higher post counts. So let's be fair to all threads and either have no post count throughout entire PC, or post count throughout all of PC. If Pokeland has no Post Count because "they're just games... lacking quality post," then how does Trivia/Pokemon Game section not "games" and has more "quality" than Pokeland, deserving to have "post counts?"
Well, I, myself... My posting style is when I see alot of posts in one thread, I go post, and if someone replies, I go post again. And my online time is sadly limited, so I just check Other Chat and Mixed Voting Polls.
A Message to Everyone:
Firstly, being a mod may be something very fun to you, being able to serve the community and so on. But please... it's not as fun as it seems (according to Lightning in an old post), and once you become mod, be serious about it. Let's not just "I want to be mod!", hope to get modded, and then after 1 week when the fresh feelings of being a mod faded, you quit... though fortunately this didn't happen yet, it's still a good thing to remind ourselves "why do I want to be a mod" when some people scream out to be mod. And to be certain: some mods now don't really deserve the mod spot, while some members now should be mod (or a mod now should deserve something of higher position). Mods will look for you if you're someone worthy of being a mod. Drop the brushups to mods with special MOTM cases by seperating praetor away from the smod category for example, just so certain Smods can get more votes. "PC Politics" should not exist in PC. We're all here to have fun.
._. Well, I certianly know a good member when I see one. Being a mod is a tough job. sometimes I feel so lazy and I don't want to go online, and I have this guilty feeling. ;_; I shall live now.
One more "am I a veteran" thread made, and I'll hunt the thread creator down like a blood thirsty dog... And whoever said "Do I have enough post counts to be veteran" will be killed. You don't earn status with a number first of all as you earn it through your posts and actions. And on top of that, *screw status.* Just because someone is here for a long time, you don't have superior power over others, and for relatively new members to PC, you shouldn't be afraid of members with high post counts too. A spammer can spam to get post count to make his "number" high, and a good devoted member can also get the same amount of post count posting essays after essays. We're all evil human beings who have done something wrong before, and we're all equal. Mods do accept opinions from members, and members should also listen to advices from mods. In the end, we're all equal (basic belief in democracy?)
Exactly. This is what I like about PC. n_n Once I joined an Inuyasha forum, and they were all "Hey! There's a n00b" =_= And n00bs are treated as lower people. ;_; So I left. SPAM means nothing. Once I see a good post, I'll always remember that member.
