How much do promises weight for you?

To me: a ton. If you promise me something, I expect you to keep it. Inversely, if I make a promise, I intend to make it real. Still working on the last promise I've made. XDDDDD

At some point, I think we've all forgotten the topic of this thread. XDDDDDD

They mean a lot to me, and only if the person has a reasonable circumstance is it okay for someone to break one.

I'm horrible with keeping promises, I guess that means they don't mean much to me. I'm working on it.

Also to edit a thread title you have to double click the thread (the space between it) in the threads list in the section Index.

i usually don't promise people stuff just so i don't have to have that stress of living up to what i've said
in terms of other people promising things to me--sadly im used to people flaking out, so when a promise is broken i may be disappointed but i usually shrug and go on

I don't expect anything from promises, because people have broken them too much in my life. It's just an empty saying to make you feel better.

I do my best to keep my promises. As such, I very rarely make promises, because it's very difficult to keep your word over a protracted period of time. One should not say things they do not mean.

As for the promises of others...dust on the wind. People's word doesn't mean anything at all to me...I'll believe it when I see it.

ill betcha dollars to donuts that you can't edit thread titles at all, even with advanced
    Spoiler:

You should also be able to do what Vivace mentioned.

....but as for the actual thread topic, I wouldn't really say I'm the type to explicitly make and use the word "promise". It's like what Meyneth said in that it can be hard to keep a promise long-term. We're not clairvoyants, how can we know we'll always be able to keep it?

So then you try and be clever when you use the term "promise". Use it when there is a finite goal in sight.

Don't do: "I promise we will be friends forever <3"

Do: "I promise I will return the favour"

At least in the latter case, you may actually return that favour. In the former case, you are bound until your dying breath.

I'm a bit like this when making promises but I have yolo'd on some occasions on promises which I believe have worked out haha. I was in an online YGO tournament and I promised I would avenge my friend and I did. Even though there was no guarantee I would defeat that opponent >___>

Depends on what the promise is, but if it's anything serious and they don't keep to it then I wouldn't go putting your trust in that person again. life is too short to waste it on people who can't follow through believe me
