Oh god, don't give Square Enix ideas! We've finally gotten away from FFXIII! Don't tempt them to go back to it. xD
That said, I did really like Serah in XIII-2. Ignoring her voice actress for a minute - creating a giant-sized proverbial elephant in the room, but humour me for a minute, haha - she was a pretty good character by the end of the game. She stopped pining pretty damn quick over her comfort sources' absence, didn't attach herself to Noel, and even when she got to see Snow again, she didn't immediately lose all of the strength of character she'd built up (not much, but more than Yuna had at least) at the sight of him. It was actually a fairly nice little reunion. Sure, she was looking for Lightning, but she wasn't wandering around like a lost waif whilst Noel did all the work. Noel was an inconvenient tag-along.
...just GOD, I wish it made sense. I've seen amateur Engrish fanfiction with smaller plot holes. "Because time paradox" does not explain away some of the serious bullshit going on in that game. Much as I hate FFXIII - and I do; it's an awful game - at least it had a proper conclusion. It was mired in never-explained concepts and a suspension of disbelief that almost required alcohol in copious amounts to swallow, but it ENDED. XIII-2 was all over the place, it was as though they all got together, had a brainstorm, and then put ALL of it in, with no refinements. I was half-expecting a musical number at some point.
Final Fantasy XIII: The Musical. I'd go and see it. I envision it being a cross between Legally Blonde and Avenue Q for some reason...maybe because Snow reminds me of Trekkie Monster. Ohgodwhathelp
