    Summary of what we know right now;
    -Around 8 AM, an explosion occured at Brussels airport.
    -A second explosion occured moments later.
    -An hour later, 9 AM - ish, confirmed explosion at metro station Maalbeek. Other explosions rumored at Kunst-Wet, Schuman, NOT CONFIRMED.
    -Metro stations have been cleared
    -Train stations are being cleared
    -Students at Brussels Universities are advised to stay inside
    -Cellphone networks are congested.
    -Multiple suspicious packages reported, Bomb disposal units are heading to each one.
    CONFIRMED CASUALTIES: 13 at the airport.
    -Parliament is being cleared.

    It's clearly the same group that bombed Paris, since they apparently apprehended one of those suspects in Brussels shortly before the bombs went off. It's honestly just ridiculous, these people need to be caught/stop before they can do this again.

    Not to mention the terrible stigma they're helping create.

    Incidentally, there were tons of people trying to catch a plane today because these past few days there had been an air controller strike in France and Easter break is this week for most people so... couldn't have found a more packed day to attack the airport.

    This is just horrible news, especially with Easter around the corner as Went said. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected in Belgium right now.

    Huh, third major bombing from an Islamic group this year. Good times await us.

    Don't make assumptions, guys. Nothing has been confirmed yet. Or has it? Anybody following the news now?

    But I kinda assume the same );

    What assumptions? Survivors reported to have heard gunshots and yelling in Arabic(I'll link in my source later right here), coupled with the fact that a big player in the region's terrorist network got caught a few days ago, the only logical conclusion so far would be a retaliatory strike at the country who snagged that guy.

    I only hope more drastic action is taken by the world than the current "It's not my problem" approach.

    ISIS claimed responsibility for Brussels.
    Nothing in this thread or that I had read so far had been confirming, hence why I asked if anybody else followed the rules more thoroughly.

    I don't understand ISIS and can't think of any way to justify the things they are doing towards the world, so I feel I can only think of them as evil. If there is such a thing as evil, they sure don't fall far from it at least.

    This is so awful for so many reasons. My heart goes out to the victims & the refugees/other Muslims who are going to somehow get lumped in with this extremist group every time they do something.

    Update: 31 dead and 198 wounded. This reminds me of Colectiv, although that wasn't a terrorist attack.

    I was really shocked when I heard about these happenings, certainly as Brussels is only like a two hour drive from my house. It's terrible people do such things.

    I read they found a suspicious package at the university of Brussels, which they had to disarm. The entire situation sounds really scary if you ask me. I wish the people there for the best, my heart is with them.

    it's certainly a dire situation... likely a retaliation for the arrest a few days ago.
    still, at this rate, Amsterdam is next in line. it seems safety measures are already being taken here as well :/

    hearing about another bombing like this isn't making dealing with the refugee crisis any easier either. i guess i just can't understand what the point of these attacks is. fear mongering perhaps, but what are they hoping to accomplish that way?

    If I had to guess, I assume they want to promote further aggression and racism towards the middle east to make it easier to recruit. So in essence, you probably hit the nail on the head with "fear mongering" I'd guess.
