Do you prefer cats over dogs? If so, what makes cats superior over dogs? Why do you prefer cats over dogs? etc

Cats are ok, but they turn angry quickly so it's scary to pet them.

I dunno where you get this from, it highly depends on the animal and the type of environment it grew up in. I've been around plenty of house cats and none of them were ever like this. Some animals can behave violently suddenly yeah, but that's not limited to cats. Sorry you had that experience though!

anyways I love em!! I've got one cute gray angora kitty that I adore to pieces. She's shy, but really well behaved and will never scratch. Plus she loafs near me when I'm on the bed how do you not love a cat that does this. <3 Cats are usually low maintenance and quiet. Such a good pet for me, since I often get home tired and just want something cute to lay next to as I recharge.

I'm totally a cat person, always have been. I can't remember what drew me to felines originally as I was very young, maybe it was because they had a air of regalness? Too much Aristocats? Either way, it was the kitteh life for me, and it still is.

I like their more independent nature; from the cats I've owned, they still like to get attention, but don't need tons of it. I also like that they don't need to go out, and where I live, that's a major advantage. It gets very cold and icy in the winter, which makes going on walks quite the chore (for most dogs and their humans). Cats tend to be less hyper then dogs, which does suit my lower energy levels. And, I just feel more comfortable around kitties.

That's not to say I don't like dogs though, I've matured from that phase. I do like being able to take my pooch outside when the weather is nice, I feel safer with my dog in the house, and most doggies that I've encountered have a positive energy to them. However, I simply prefer cats overall.

I know both animals are stellar and make great pets, provided you can meet their needs.

I've lived with cats since I was a baby, so it doesn't feel the same if there aren't any around. Not to say that I don't like dogs, they just don't seem as cool to me as cats.

For some reason I'm remembering when I was a kid and had a cat named Lucky, I was playing some game on the N64, possibly Ocarina of Time. I stupidly hadn't saved for quite a while, and next thing you know Lucky stepped on the reset button. XD

I just couldn't really hate her for it, and to this day I kind of think that she did it on purpose, since I was ignoring her while playing the game. :P

I vastly prefer cats, dog people have put me off dogs for good.

That's an interesting point, because people used to tease and pester me about being a cat person for the longest time. When I was a kid, this actually put me off dogs and I had a phase were I really disliked them because my peers kept nagging me to favour them. Thankfully, I've matured and come to see how paw-sitive canines can be, but I'll always remain on team kitty.

Oddly enough, when I tell people I'm a cat person, I feel obligated to mention that I'm quite alright with dogs too. On the other hand, more then a few times, I've been met with responses detailing why the person dislikes cats and it's a little... disheartening. I've even had people agree with kittens being adorable, but tell me that they hate adult cats.

i jus think cats r dope ok i dont hate dogs i just feel legit with cats

I'll leave dogs out of this, they are great in their own ways.

Cats are SUPER GREAT though! I wouldn't want to live without my two floofs, they are the lights of my life and the cuddliest and cutest and funniest and kindest (except for when one of them bit me when i was combing him yesterday lol but he's a bitch and a crybaby)

(but yes generally i do prefer the cute awesomeness and elegance of cats to the drooling stinkyness of dogs)

dogs are annoying end of discussion
    mate I will fight you

I am definitely more of a dog person, but I love, love my brother's girlfriend's cat - he is the sweetest, most adorable thing ever, so affectionate and just loves being around people, unlike a lot of other cats I've known. I don't know a lot about cat breeds but I think he is a Chartreux cat.

Here's a smol gallery of him and his little smushed face
    Spoiler:

He is my favorite cat in the world

I had to stop posting in the dog owner topic because I was starting to gush about my two cats and how much I love them.

Cats are great. They're easy to care for. So long as they have a bowl of their favorite food, a bowl of water, and can snuggle with you, they're happy. They don't need to go outside to use the bathroom or to burn off energy. Which is great for when I come home from work and don't feel like dealing with anything. As soon as I come home, my cats are happy just relaxing in whatever room I'm in. And cats are clean.

Plus, if you get two crazy cats like mine, they act like dogs. Both of mine come when called and follow me all over the house.

    And obligatory cat tax.

Both dogs and cats are great, I love both. When I was younger I wanted a cat and was half scared of dogs, but the two doggos I got later changed my mind and I wouldn't trade them for anything else. I still wouldn't say no to a cat however

I have no cats, but one of the guys I'm sharing this flat with has one, and she's an adorable orange fluffball that is usually sitting near the door whenever I come home, then she starts meowing and asking to be petted.

Dogs are very cute but I absolutely love cats. <3 My aunt always had one and it's the sweetest thing, it always liked to be petted! The dream is to get a cat once I get my own place (that is not just a single room).

Plus cat memes are the best thing.
