Mega Slowbro was likely supposed to look comical like it does. And yes, it does look stupid, literally
Tho it's a physic type so I doubt it is.
The design isn't bad, even if you think it is, because it actually makes sense. The shelder is a living thing. Living things get bigger. Slowbro stays the same yes but I think we can assume By the time slopoke becomes Slowbro it's an adult, and it's shelder is obviously younger, since slowpoke doesn't have one at birth.

Also, seeing how it looks like a top, its likely getting Rapidspin(SlowbroForOUPlz)

Well they didn't call it Slowpoke for nothing. It even spawned an image macro meme. The fact that Slowking got neglected by its older evolution counterpart like Gallade had me realized, both evolved from items, so I wonder if Pokemon who evolved from stones/items usually don't receive Mega Evolutions.

Interesting to see you picked up on that, but Slowking doesn't really evolve from a stone but rather trading when it holds a King's Rock. After reading your post, I'm starting to wonder if stone-based evolutions are intentionally excluded from getting Megas but who knows they could be choosing at random and then pull the rug from under us.

Oh yeah, it's going to be amazing! Right now, the renders are awesome and I love the color of the game.

It's just really pretty. The point of view in some screens look quite unique as well!

I don't remember a scene like that in the originals, or at least when it happens but that looks likely to be Route 102 in the screenshot. But still, those Beautifly are looking so glorious in that 3D and I can tell they improved in that department well, even the Mega Evolution scene looks more polished than it was in X/Y.

I know I've already seen a lot of Hoenn Pokemon's models in-game in X/Y and they looked great, but I can't wait to finally see all those that weren't in Kalos.

King's rock is an item though, so it still fits what Pinkie said "so I wonder if Pokemon who evolved from stones/items usually don't receive Mega Evolutions."

Interestingly stone evolution seems to be connected with Mega Evolutions. As irc Sycamore mentions the Mega Stones possibly being evolution stones that underwent a change. (if that theory is true I think Charizard's stones are Fire stones, Venusaur's a Leaf stone, and Blastoise's is a Water stone, which would be a nice homage to the remakes, and the trademarked name for a possible remake (instead of LeafGreen) for WaterBlue's case. Interestingly Charizard getting two may be a reference to how it was featured in two versions of Red (the Jp, and the international versions) while in Japan Venusaur served as it's counterpart while Blastoise took the third version role, and in the international version it was Charizard and Blastoise that were paired up.

So perhaps Pokemon that evolve by stones/items will get something else other than Megas. Not necessary Primals though, could be something else.

The game certainly looks crisper than XY did.

So, Game Freak may have something against giving Megas to Pokemon that evolve with items. But still, interesting theory on the Kanto starters there, given the version mascot status they had as you mentioned with the original 1st Gen games in Japan.

Although, I likely think the Primal Reversions might be Kyogre/Groudon exclusive.

I am so using Mega Slowbro to peeve people whom hate them off.

I think that it's a bit silly honestly to speculate on rules on why so-and-so doesn't (yet?) have a mega. We don't have too many Pokemon to base it on as only a small handful from 700+ Pokemon have a mega so far. (Even if you ignore Pokemon that can still evolve, that's still a lot). Besides, stuff changes all the time. Some generations ago legendaries 'couldn't have' genders, or breed. Or a duo always had to have a third version which was the same game but with bells and whistles and maybe some minor changes to the plot. It goes on. While Game Freak are rather formulaic, they're not like that all the time.

(I will however speculate that come 'Slowpoke day' as promoted by the Japanese Pokemon site, we may end up with a Mega Slowking. Seems like a neat opportunity for them to do that).

Well to divert the conversation back to confirmed things, I really like Lopunny's Mega. Honestly I wish it and Mega Audino were the normal evolutions of their respective Pokémon. Especially since those two could've used a boost before going Mega.

Yeah, it's where it's suppose to be.

Where do you think we'll first meet Lissi? It looks like Verdanturf to me.

Well 14-16 days until we likely get more news, if any.

Looks like Slateport to me.

That screenshot in Azure's signature must be the scene where Lisia first appears in the game, and I do think Kyainey about it being Slateport City because iirc Verdanturf Town's contest hall was not on the top left of the map, it was Rusturf Tunnel (aka that tunnel full of nothing but Whismur) that was there. Verdanturf's contest hall was on the southern end while Slateport's was on the north-west.

Has to be slateport. Verdanturf's is right before the cave, so it would not seem so open. Not to mention the fences, which are something slateport had. Makes me wonder if they switched the ranks for them. Which would technically work on some level. The way I see it, the contests now have a sub story, which goes along with the plot, which is why you would do Verdanturf's 3rd and not 1st. Yeah I know Fallarbor is after it, but I think the cave expansion of Rusturf is probably going to warrant a second visit.

Okay, now I agree. Especially since Slateport is the first place we encounter contests (but can't play them) in RS. Plus the road resemble's Slateports (Verdanturf had a (lighter than the normal grass)grass road).

Mega Slobro looks a lot like Slowpoke just in a big shell. Well more than normal Slowbro does.

I remember the order of the contests was Verdanturf > Fallarbor > Slateport > Lilycove, in the rank order. I wonder if they'll retain that rank, or maybe they might switch Verdanturf and Slateport around given Lisia makes her first appearance in Slateport.

Lisia will likely be like Norman. We met them early, but don't get to challenge the gym/contest hall in this case until later on.

Well August is almost over, so almost another corocoro upon us.

Interesting theory you have going there, but you know I'm also starting to think if she gives the player the Altaria Mega Stone given it's her star Pokemon. At least we'll be getting some news soon so it can further add to the discussion.

Remember this is a thread for confirmed information, so keep the topic on things falling under that category. That's in reference to the discussion earlier about possible mega evolutions.

Anyway, I've been in love with all the new NPC designs. Lisia is one of them, adorable <3

I love Lisia, she's a cutie. It's pretty cool how they based her design on Altaria which is nice way to showcase it being her signature Pokemon. Also, I came across fanart on Tumblr and for some reason I'm now reminded of how similar she looks to Yancy when she's in her TV presenter outfit. And there's also the Wallace comparisons I see floating around.
