I just finished watching The Serpent Queen. Naturally, I went on a Wikipedia deep dive to predict what historical events will be covered in the next season.
I ended up learning that:
-the eldest of the Guise brothers, on top of being an uncle of Mary, Queen of Scots, is married to one of Lucrezia Borgia's granddaughters,
-the eldest of the Bourbon brothers will become the great-grandfather of Louis XIV, the longest-reining European monarch,
-his son, who will become Henry IV of France, will marry Marie de' Medici and father Henrietta Maria, the wife of James VI and I who happens to be the son of the aforementioned Mary, Queen of Scots,
-Catherine de' Medici's youngest, Francis, Duke of Anjou, will attempt to court Queen Elizabeth I of England (and he will be infamously portrayed crossdressing in a movie based on Elizabeth's early reign).
...European royal genealogy really is like playing Six Degrees of Separation. I'm not mad if I assume most of the European royal houses intermarried one another at some point, right? Even the Popes' families are involved!
Argentina's playing a World Cup match right now. Win or lose, there's gonna be a racket in my neighborhood when it all ends... though to be honest I'm more scared of them actually winning.
EDIT: They actually won. Pleasantly surprised it's not a war zone here, though the fans are probably too tired to celebrate after how fucking long the match was.
I'm giving my best for the Linguistics final, but I can't deny how unfair it is that I even have to sit this goddamn exam after having put so much effort into passing the subject with a high grade.
See, in most subjects in my course of studies, if you get a high enough average grade, you don't have to sit for the final exam at all. Thing is, Linguistics belongs to a different department, so we all have to play by their outdated rules. They have no rewards for putting in effort during the semester; we all have to go through this. It's as unfair for us in the English Teaching Training Program as for the Literature students.
I can't wait to get this exam off my back so I can finally move on.
