first impression of paldea

It is one of the best regions in my opinion. There's a lot of stuff to do inside a single route and I realized that... I get lost very often! I thought the Isle of Armor in Pokémon Shield was pretty vast, but after seeing Paldea I must rethink about it.

These games have completely engrossed me:
Different stories each with unique, lovable characters
You can go literally anywhere and do quests in any order
It's a bit glitchy but the stories and characters make up for it

I enjoy Paldea a lot. However, when I first saw Paldea in the trailers, I thought I would be disappointed because I assumed the entire region would be mostly nothing but wide-open spaces. After playing the game, of course, much of it is open space, but it still has a good amount of towns spread throughout, and the sheer amount of Pokémon in the wild make up for the space. It has plenty of items to gather to keep you occupied as well. I believe they did a great job with it and it's much better than what they did in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. I also love the culture that they have there too.

It's confusing and difficult to navigate because the compass always points North! But, I think the region is a little too big. I don't dislike it, I think the region is really cool and is fun to explore and play in, but the map and the fact the compass always points north is slightly annoying.

Very open and fun, but at the same time, I wish there were more things in between. There are a lot of Pokémon to catch, trainers to battle, and items to pick up of course, but I talk more about the setting and how it can be a little more connected. Right now it just seems to be towns/cities connected by paths of grass/rock/ice etc, but what about roads (as we do obviously see people with cars)? Farmlands with farm Pokémon and farmers? Homes of people living a little more away from larger groups/society? A bit more life in that regard would be nice - in older Pokémon games you could at least find houses all over the world and not just in towns, and I do miss that.

Needed more in-between areas. Missed places like the Pokemon Tower in Lavender City, the Power Plant in Kanto, the Lost Hotel in Kalos, or even the spooky house in Kalos. Did not need to be long, by any means. Hoped for places with some prize at the end.

Had some areas with more interesting exploration, such as the cave into Alfornado. Remembers a hill east of Los Platos you could climb.

Switches between rotating the map and locking the map to north by pressing the right stick. Do not forget about setting destinations too. Might help?
