Have there been forums that you chose to leave?

Getting banned doesn't count lol. Like the title says have you ever left a forum before? If so which forum was it and what led to your decision to leave? Was it boredom? The community itself? A lack of interest in what the forum was about? Discuss.

The Game Homepage Forums. It's activity just kept decreasing and decreasing, and there were a ton of trolls and spambots, so in June 2011 I asked to be permabanned. I eventually came back 3 weeks later, and left again in September 2011. Somehow, I found my way back in June 2012, 2013, and 2014, only to leave again a month or two after I would come back each time. I still occasionally visit The Game Homepage, but I've lost all hope in it. It's so dead even spambots don't post anymore.

I left Serebii and Bulbagarden. I left Serebii because I felt the community just wasn't really a community, honestly. I felt like no one liked me and everyone was just hostile and apparently I'm not the only one. I've heard it's not as bad as it used to be (I was only around for a few months in 2008, to put that into perspective for you), but I still don't think I'd bother going there now. Bulbagarden was just too dead for me. I was also there in 2008.

I was on EGC and pretty decently active there. I'd forget about it from time to time though, then show up and be active, then forget...I'm at the forget stage atm. :P Especially after that forum like...got this crazy reboot or something and we had to re-register? I know there are some EGC staff on PC so feel free to correct me here, cause idk what all happened, haha. I liked EGC though. It's kind of nice to relax on another Pokemon forum and not be staff, honestly.

This place called MLPforums. People got butthurt over every little thing and thought ponies were the key to life. So I was like "lolnope" and left, also kinda when I left the brony fandom too.

    bulba was chaotic and unkind

    serebii was weirdly strict/formal

    pokemopolis was boring

neopets was funny for a while

gaia used to be all art, now it's all revolution

& looool all those tiny independent invisionfree forums that were popular back in the day

I've left every other forum but PC that I have joined at some point. I left EGC because simply put I wasn't active enough and wasn't enjoying myself. Everyone I talked to was also a member here so there wasn't much reason for me to stick around. I made a bulbagarden account too that I used for a little while but quickly grew tired of being on two forums. There were a few others as well that idr at this point. PC is the only place I have stayed at.

Ditto for Serebii. These mods kept telling new members off for shit posting in the chat thread even though they were just being social and trying to talk with people. Even overlooking that incident I've never seen such an uppity userbase.

I've left other forums due to their inactivity or my inability to make friends there. No drama with those sites though.

There's been so many. I've been a member of countless forums. Forums were my form of entertainment when I was on the computer for *years*. I can't even remember 99.99% of the forums that I've been a part of.

The main ones PokeStation, Superskarmory Forums and Pokemon Mysidia

SuperSkarmory I tried to stay on because I had friends there after SS dermerged from PokeStation. I can't remember the exact reason I decided to leave, but I'm pretty sure it was due to specific members and staff members not being pretty nice or something.

PokeStation was the hardest one to leave since I had been on it since almost as long as I've been on PC. Basically there ended up being a split between staff members for some reason or whatever. The decision for half of us active staff to just leave suddenly was kinda on our decision and we just left without ever really telling them. Most of my other friends who left at the same time had more beef with the other staff than I did, but I left because I preferred them to the staff who stayed. Also there was one Admin who was kinda an ass to me anyway.

Pokemon Mysidia wasn't really my own decision to leave, it was more of the whole forum closing down and everyone kinda had to leave.

I left PC for about 3 years to focus on school and I thought that was the end of my forum days, but somehow I'm back here lol.

Eitherway, I kinda miss them good old days.

Oh waaait does Neopets count too? You know what's funny about Neopets though? All I wanted to do as a kid was post on the boards, but I'd never have the Neopoints for paintbrushes and such, haha. And I wanted them so bad, but I didn't care to play the games, if only a few. I left mainly cause I just forgot about it, but in uhhh I think 2011/2012, I came back to my old account and literally only played games. I could NOT post in those boards. All I did was play games and I got one of the most expensive paintbrushes for my pet and then made it halfway to the amount of points I needed for one of the other most expensive brushes. lol I tried to post on the boards at one point, but nope. Once you've grown accustomed to a forum like PC, it's hard to go back to the silly boards, especially since it's a much younger crowd (you feel a bit weird about it too). I tried to just post answers in the help boards if I did post, though.

tl;dr when you're a kid, you just wanna talk to strangers on the internet. when you're a young adult, you just play the games non-stop. lol

No way bro, I get too emotionally attached to pull something like that.

I used to be active on PE2K, Pokemasters, and Bulbagarden, but I left mainly due to real life stuff. Bulbagarden is probably the only one where its culture really threw me off.

Serebii I still lurk, though mainly the fanfic forums over there. I used to be active in the other sections but lost interest as time went by.

I left TV.com as a posting member. There wasn't really a community at all there because it was way too big. But that wasn't why I left, I'm not sure that I ever made a decision to leave, I just kinda... stopped posting.

Hmmmm... Technically I "left" this forum for two years once (well stopped being active, but whatever) and for half year later. But aside from that, I can't say I left any forum, I just stopped being active or forum has been changed/deleted for some reasons.

Part of the Serebii/BMGf peeps that left the place. Honestly, Serebii is actually my first forum, so I grew accustomed to that place and not too much towards PC back at 2008-2009. BMGf too, but after a short while lurking around, I don't really like the community, so I left pretty quickly. Eventually, I left Serebii at the middle of 2010 for a short while, and even left all the forums I've frequent altogether in favor of deviantArt haha, only coming back once in a while to lurk.

Serebii isn't all too bad... if you ignore all the Pokemon discussions and the misc chat threads haha. I swear, the only two things that kept me alive on Serebii back when I returned at the end of 2013 are the Shiny hunting discussion thread over there (since people are doing Badge Quests and it's interesting to see them complete them, while over here I can't find anyone posting haha) and the Fan Clubs, and even there I wasn't so active. Something else might be the weekly spriting contests and the advent calendar threads, but yeah, that's about it. Sure, I met a few good folks, but I'm still not comfortable with the community as a whole. Like people said, it's too strict.

While BMGf... huh, too quiet for my tastes. Even after returning after about 5 years of hiatus, it's still dead to me.

I also used to post around Arkeis forums, pretty sure most of you at least know Arkeis.com, and that was the forums haha. Yeah, an independent invisionfree forum. I was friends with most of the current staff and h-staff, even from way back when they weren't staff yet and aragornbird was the only admin. It died some time last year, which happened after about 2-3 years of me not coming back there lol. I wish I had added any of the staff's contacts back then though, they were fun people. :(

I was an avid lurker/occasional poster in a forum called Pokemon Online (the forum dedicated for the other famous battling simulator of the same name, Pokemon Online). When my interest in competitive battling dwindled then, so did my interest in the forum. So I left.

I also left A LOT of small PC-wannabe forums that I was invited to back in 2010 or so :p

I left Bulbagarden, mostly because it wasn't holding my interest.

I left Serebii for two reasons firstly the atmosphere was kinda weird its a very mod led place and the mods aren't afraid to make sure members know this. Secondly the forums visual appearance is poor and uninspiring, its just the v bulletin default layout but green, also you don't get the cool avatars and signatures you find people have here.

I often found myself leaving loads of Pokemon forums that weren't PC, but some that I'll name include Bulbagarden, Serebii and also a teeny one called Slateport City (formerly Ever Grande City).

Bulbagarden was where I started foruming, but I didn't last very long there because I was driven out by the mods because I felt they were "targeting" me for power abuse. I did make a brief comeback around 2013, but even then that didn't last... because I could never find a place to post.

When I was unable to get onto PC for 2 weeks (because I broke rules I didn't even know about, but remember this was my noob phase) in 2011, I ended up joining Serebii and I did post in a few areas but as years went by my activity as a whole dwindled significantly, and usually spent time posting only in one thread (their equivalent of C&M What Are You Listening To thread, because I'm a big music buff) but then my Chrome browser downloaded this weird adblock that made me completely unable to post there (it also caused small profile videos on PC to be unplayable which led to me taking my own video down), so I couldn't continue and as of late 2014, I left that forum entirely.

I joined Ever Grande City around 2012, and I did actively post there a bit but then you know, for those who had been around there, the forum suffered a big crash in 2014 (I think) and everything was lost meaning the entire forum had to be built from scratch, and that's when Slateport was born. Sadly my activity did not carry over to the new forum, and I ended up disappearing very quickly.

It was all because PC was the forum where I felt like I was really part of a community, and why I'll never leave anytime soon.

I dunno if you'd call it cliquey but even though BMGf's exterior is one of the most orderly places you'll see, their staff forum is literally a spampit. They were incredibly insulated, as is most communities with hordes of noobs. :/

I never bonded right with BMGf, and to be honest a lot of my odd behaviours with PC could be credited to that. Serebii has far too much autistic nerdrage over every little thing, with the staff behaving like a group of drill sergeants with recruits in boot camp. Also the load of shit about not letting people upload custom avatars... talk about keeping people down lol

I ran my own forum and at its peak of activity I didn't really have any social issues with it... we had a horde of admins and like one mod lol. But that was a long time ago.

Oh! I forgot to mention, when a group of AdvanceShippers (us) left BMGf in some confusion we created a ProBoards forum I spent a little time on. It was honestly just as bad as BMGf in the context of shipping though. Constant jabs and attacks between ships, and it turned into a little turf of SatoHaru that no non-AdvanceShippers went to. They baited people with the rules stating "no bashing" but they bashed anyway lawl. I'd have probably stuck around and made some change if I still cared about shipping.

I also remember leaving PokeStation after Super Skarmory Forums demerged from it. As for Pokemon Mysidia, I also remember leaving after it went inactive. As for Super Skarmory Forums, I have been leaving and coming back to it since 2009.
