Have any of you ever had an detention at school ?

I have had an break-time one from my French teacher because she thought I was writing slower that the rest of my class. Which was not really my fault I was writing slower I have problems with writing due to ASD.

    Yeah, in 1st grade.

I wanted to answer questions in English class, but the teacher made me go to the corner because of it. The reason was that I ''knew more'' than the others. She got fired, because she was a ♥♥♥♥♥ to other students, as well.

    >_>

Most of the teachers at my school are so soft they don't really bother to give out detentions, especially for senior students, since we're supposed to be grown up and not requiring that sort of menial discipline. But yeah I've had a few detentions, who hasn't? There's probably some goody two shoes here, absolute angels who have never been in a spot of trouble in their entire lives :D

Ah, if only we could live in a world where if you got no detentions in school you never did wrong the rest of your life...

My school had an incredibly lax system where you got written up 10 times before you got a detention; I was written up once my senior year for being late to class, and my teacher apologized while writing it. I believe it's still on my mother's fridge.

    I've had it one time.
It was for like too many tardies or something. I went to the wrong room and they told me I could go home. Lol

I've never had detention because I was always the nerd good kid in front of my teachers. Although whe my teachers were not there did beat up a lot of guys. (people who I was with. not bullying.)

At my time in private school. More than once. Two were in my reading class for times when they thought I wasn't paying attention at all when I really was, and another was in a different class for when I was laughing during class and being disruptive.

They would get kinda tough with these matters, but I wasn't on the higher end of being a victim to it.

Yup! I had a detention every single day for the second semester of 8th grade. I don't even remember what I did to get that. I really don't remember too much about the 8th grade for some reason. I'm guessing it had something to do with school work since that's really the only thing they would give out a dentention for. My school liked to give in school suspensions a lot more than detentions. In school suspensions were ♥♥♥♥ing awesome cause you didn't have to do anything all day, you just showed up, hung out with all the other suspended kids, texted people on your phone and slept all day.

*Playful_Weasel's reply jogged my memory. My shop teacher gave me a lunch detention everyday due to some family issues that I'm not comfortable sharing online, so that I could catch up in that class, since I practically missed the first semester due to those family issues. The only after school detention I had was when this girl accused me of stealing her phone. I ended up staying after for 4 hours until the principal finally found the girls phone in one of her classes, she just forgot to grab it... I had a lot of in school suspensions though lol.

I had detention exactly once during my thirteen years of public schooling. It was due to a half-baked and ultimately short-lived schoolwide policy that stated that a student that didn't turn in x number of homework assignments in a y-week period would have to be assigned detention, and I was a known slacker. XD

I'm sure I had many, but the 2 that come to mind was when I was at 7th grade.... when a friend and I talked back -in a rude way- to a teacher and she sent us to the principal's office, we got after-school detention for it.

In 10th grade, my other time was when I was caught skipping class since I was not prepared for a test and I didn't want to take it. Got lunch detention for that.

Yes of course I've had a detention, who hasn't? I'm actually really surprised there's people on here with just 1 or 2 detentions and some with none, either I'm just a really crappy student or my school is crazy strict. But I've had like 10-15 detentions some lunch ones and some after school ones just for not doing hw, bad uniform or being late just stupid little things.

I've been pretty close to breaking into the detention for a school I don't go to, if that counts?

I've only gotten it once in 7th grade and it was the whole class. We had a substitute and apparently she couldn't handle how "unruly" the class was so we had lunch detention for a whole week

In 6th grade, I had this home ec teacher that started the semester by telling us that if we arrived at her classroom after the bell, we'd get detention.

So uh.. I had it every day that year. Then I was supposed to have it longer every day because I never showed up. But I still never showed up, so I don't know what that accomplished.

    Detentions were non-existent after middle school now that I think about it...The closest thing to a detention for me was being sent to "the wall" during recess time for throwing a snowball at someone in elementary school. People who are sent there were watched by a teacher on duty to stay there for 10 minutes, and then they'd be free to go. But nope, no detentions because I was basically a goodie-two-shoes ;-;

I had the most bizarre luck with detentions. The two that I actually did end up being verbally told "YOU HAVE A DETENTION ON WEDNESDAY" went my way.

The first of the two was for kicking someone in the head, they hit their head on a bar in front of them from the kick and it left a pretty awkward bruise. Because of my usually good temperament, I actually managed to contest my detention and still result in the other guy getting one due to them being... basically an annoying ♥♥♥♥. 8D

The second of the two was for getting a B on a Biology test I had to get my target grade on. (WHICH HAD BEEN RAISED TO AN A FOR THAT YEAR FML) I resat it in a detention, finished it in 15 minutes, got a perfect mark, and managed to catch the school bus that had been delayed.

I guess there was the odd lunch hour punishment here and there, but who cares about a lost lunch? 8D

Who knew you were so aggressive? XD

Despite being a really unorganised person, I managed to avoid detention throughout my schooling. We had a system of needing three demerits to get a detention and I basically got two most weeks and usually luckily avoided a third a lot of the time. I spent a good two years getting two demerits a week for not doing French & Spanish homework so how I never managed to pick up a third demerit over those two years I'll never know.
