Do you sell or trade games after you beat them? Do you keep them and play them continuously? Why, or Why not?

I keep mine, especially pokemon games. I also keep my FFX/X-2 games and whatever because I know I have know hope of beating them anyway. XD With pokemon games, I do like to play them constantly because they keep me occupied, and I love being able to create different teams. :3

I'm a collector, so yeah, I keep my games. I do replay a lot of games often, especially Pokemon, so that's probably a contributing factor as to why I collect games. The only time I trade in games are when I'm absolutely sure it's a game I don't want to play again and if it's for a console I'm not very focused on collecting for.

I don't think I've ever traded in or sold a game in my life.

I've never traded in or sold a game after beating it. I do want to change that though, since the majority of the games I own are ones that I have no intention of playing again. Or they were ones that I bought on a whim, never played them, and now look at them in wonderment as I figure out why I have them.

I'm surprised. I thought for sure there would be people who would say they trade in their games and such. I know a lot of people do. The reason I was curious was because I recently bought Pokemon Black Pre-owned. It got me thinking about the amount of people who like to trade in games after only beating them once.

I don't really consider myself a collector... I just don't see any reason to trade them in after beating them once. I don't get too easily bored of games, especially pokemon ones. I can play them constantly for days without ever getting bored. Sometimes, I'll get bored of one pokemon game... but then I'll move onto another. Either that, or I'll play something like Fantasy Life for a while. I'll even play my Vita where I have Tales of Heart R and FFX/X-2.

I keep them, and don't really have plans to trade them in (especially given how little I'd get back for them). Maybe I will give some to friends or family (e.g. I've given my sister my Pokemon White cartridge), but otherwise I'll probably keep them. They don't take up too much space, and sometimes it's a good source of nostalgia, even if the game wasn't that good!

I keep all my games, bad or good. Sometimes I end up replaying games if I like them. Though, mostly it's because I like to collect things. A lot of things.

Sometimes if I buy a new game and beat it quickly, I can sell it on E-Bay for almost as much money. It's like renting a new game for $5 and passing it on. No strings attached.

Most games I keep for my private collection, but some I beat and know "it's ok to sell these"

I like Link Between Worlds, loved it... but I sold it immediately. I got my fun and done.

I've kept most of the games that I enjoyed playing through. If I had a game and I ended up not liking it, I would trade it in, but I like collecting, so I hold on to most of the ones I like.

This is like sacrilegious to me tbh. I'm such a video game hoarder it's not even funny, I still have my very first GameBoy Color - still works, still has batteries in it, and I still pick it up once in a blue moon to play it. I replay my favorite games a lot, so it's unheard of for me to trade in or sell a game unless I absolutely hated it or it bored me to no end.

"Hello. My name is Alessa and I am a hoarder."
A good 80% of my library is digital, so that's not going anywhere. And the other 20% just looks so darn pretty on my game shelf. :P

I will admit, I have resold a handful of my Xbox 360 games, and I have another 2 dozen or so sitting aside waiting to go on ebay/craigslist.. but those are only titles that I've already purchased a "replacement copy" for PC, because both of my 360s are fried. Anything I can't 'replace' on Steam will continue to sit on the shelf for forever, despite how seriously unlikely it is that I will buy an Xbone or fix/replace either of my 360s.

As for playing them continuously.. not so much. I have so many games as it is now, that once I feel like I've sufficiently beaten a game it goes back on the shelf. Or if it's in my Steam library, I move it into the "Wrecked" category and uninstall it, to probably never ever touch again.
I have a small handful of series that I like and I'll usually play a few times over before I get bored, or implement self-imposed challenges for future playthroughs - Resident Evil, Zelda, Fallout, etc. But otherwise, once I beat it, I only hold onto physical copies for my collection.

But no, in general, I don't sell or trade my games. Not unless I've replaced it from an obsolete system to a more current one.. Though my physical Resident Evil games aren't going anywhere, even though I've replaced all but ORC from my 360 to Steam.
And after how fucked up my N64 was after letting my cousins borrow it (and how many games went "missing") or how I lost my first 360 to my niece while my sister was borrowing it (and she refused to pay at all for my broken console because "360s just break, it wasn't her fault") I uhh. I don't loan out to friends/family anymore, either. My games will stay in my bedroom for the rest of forever. :v

I don't think I've ever traded in or sold a game in my life.

P-please, teach me your ways! I've sorely regretted trading in some stuff. :(

I'm always saying I'll do this and whilst I've done it with some games like DmC, and AC, I'm hesitant to trade in some gems that I really, reallyyy liked playing. Sometimes, I've even gone and bought the very games I fully completed and traded in, haha. If I trade in stuff, it's either due to needing the funds (as little as they might be) or to simply get rid of stuff to make space.

Of my own accord, no. Once I buy a game I keep it, no matter how bad I might think it is. I have this weird thing about "what if I actually want to try it out someday, I'll regret it if I trade it in or return it then!"

Of course, the chances of that happening are low, but still. That alone is enough to stop me from trading things in. :P And applies to...well, really anything of mine, not just video games.

Now the only games I've ever had that I did have traded in, those were back when I was a kid and my parents decided to trade in stuff we got for something else that "the kids will actually understand/enjoy". Yeah, I was kind of annoyed for some time after one of those incidents. I know we traded in an rpg I had wanted to try because I made the mistake of admitting "I don't understand this" to my parents, and...I forget what we got in its place, but I was annoyed at losing that game.

(To the point where when I was renting out something else years later, or maybe this was after I had bought my own copy, my brother was like "I don't understand what to do" and my response was basically "don't you even dare say that", lol.)

So yeah. I keep all my games. They can go into my game stash regardless of how bad they are.

I don't think I ever have just for the sake of replayability. Not that I replay games a ton, but I like having the game so I can choose to or not. Plus trading them in or selling them feels like giving away memories. Even if I don't really intend to play Attack of the Toy Bots which I bought when I was like 9, it'd still be giving away a little piece of my childhood. Old games even if bad always have the nostalgia factor. If I played through the entire thing then more likely than not I enjoyed it so getting rid of it just seems silly to me. If I hated it I'd consider trading it in but I'm not actually sure if I've ever done that.

I like to keep all of my games. Even if some of them did kinda suck you never know when you're going to want to play something. The only times I ever really sell or trade my games are once they no longer work. Somebody will be able to fix them, but not me. I'd rather just trade/sell it and then spend a little extra cash and buy another copy. I have about 30 games that I keep out of my binders because I play them often enough and enjoy them enough that it's easier to just leave them out rather than search through all of my games any time I decide I want to play it.
